  1. I've mangled a couple of cases now. I will admit that I suck. Anyone that will take a couple of Rolex cases and drill lugs for me? Goes without saying, but I would pay for your time and shipping in both directions. I am in the CONUS.
  2. Yes, I'm not the most handy with power tools. I may have to outsource the drilling of the lugs. I'll post some more when I find a decent dial and get the 2836 ready to roll. Have some gen omega flightmaster hands and a stick second hand I've found that I'm going to play with.
  3. I had a NOS gen 24-602 tube and 24-600 crown I cracked from packaging before installing (which I had a bit of trouble finding for reasonable money at the time). I'm not sure about gen crowns fitting on the old crappy tube (or vice versa) or how they are received by other aftermarket tubes.
  4. First, please note that I am in no way affiliated with Josh, perfect clones or any other person or entity that might deal these watches. This was just informative and a bit of fun. I was interested by another post on the board from Josh stating his case was truly made with a gen as reference and supposedly 1:1. I had a Tropic 116 crystal and a gen crown and tube and decided to see if I could mod without a bunch of compromises/sanding/general breaking stuff I usually do/etc. Crystal: The gen Tropic 116 seated down on the ring very snugly, but I didn't have to force it or ever fear I would crack the crystal or damage it. Crystal press put it right on without any issues. The bezel slid on and with a bit of pressure from a press, it slid over the crystal and seated really firmly and is tight as can be and won't budge. Crown and Tube Popped the old crap tube out of the case with a bit of force on the broach and then replaced with a new gen 24-602-0 some Loctite with relative ease. I didn't even mangle up the threads of the tap as I have done 10 times before. The 24-600-0 crown of course seated nicely against the case. Josh's folded bracelet that comes OOTB with the watch is a pretty nice bracelet. Doesn't accept gen bars, so I have may have to attempt to drill when I drill out the lugs. May be a dupe post of someone else's work, but thought someone might find of interest. Really poor pics of the result (I need to align the cyclops and bezel a bit better, but you get the point). Note that I beat up the case and bezel prior.
  5. I've gone and completely mangled the old suckful rolex rep case tube and a bit of the case threading in the process of removing a tube. Any recommended 1) case tube tool and 2) case tube tap? I've found each at Cas-Ker. Anyone have experience with these? http://www.jewelerssupplies.com/product1154.html http://www.jewelerssupplies.com/Case-Tube-Taps-Rolex.html Thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks a bunch Andy and I greatly appreciate the generous offer. With your info I found some on ofrei and I'll just grab some from there. Brian
  7. I bought an aftermarket dial and want to snip the dial feet and install on an ETA movement. My question is: what is the best way to affix to the movement and have it remain in place? Double-sided tape? Some sort of glue safe for inside of what that won't render the dial worthless if I ever want to remove? I've searched around for posts but haven't seen anything. Any pictorial would be of big help. Thanks in advance.
  8. Have a 2824 and 2836 I'd like the rolex-ish calendar disc for. Thanks in advance.
  9. Yes, I'm cleansing the system. Found it the other day and keep looking at it for some reason......
  10. Markers extend to edge. Fonts look a little junky, but otherwise it looks good to me. Seller says Singer, but it looks like Beyeler engraving. Haven't seen any copies of Beyeler dials. But, haven't been looking that hard for very long. Thoughts? Thanks in advance. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=250670089952&Category=10363&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2#ht_2500wt_1114
  11. So many flaws but I just love the thing....
  12. I bought decent one from NDT about 6 months ago that did accept the gen bars, but it had some really goofy end links. No longer available there, though...
  13. yuki has a good looking 7206 with 80 end links I was thinking of buying and sticking on a 5512 I built. Anyone have this bracelet? Thoughts? Does it accept gen springbars? Thanks in advance.
  14. Buy from an authorized dealer and have no concerns.
