Early Rolex 6542 .... Have Anyone One Of These?
rbj69 replied to klingsor's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
heres another version with the small 24 hour hand for u, enjoy!! -
this is way too funny , it works now lmao , all i did was take it off again for the 5th time , or maybe tenth i cant remember , all i did was open the little spring wire just a tad and now it clicks fine and doesnt hangup at all, now was that what it was? hek i dont know but it works now and it looks great and im so damn happy now , lol so if this happens to u and finepics just try opening that spring just a bit and put it back on and see what happens, lol joe
-
hek i have seen so many variations i was believing it could be some kind of left over type deal, lol i just figured if they had the balls to put it on the bay for that kind of money then maybe that hand was mysteriously installed by the rolex gods, lol but back when i researched these watches i never saw one with hands like that as well joe lol u did get me looking yesterday, lol
-
ive already got the big bubble second hand for this one and the hour hand, the minute hand looks very similar to the minute hand on those new cartier pasha seatimers to me , just the little angle on each side is a bit higher up , i will look through my hand catalog book to see if they r attainable , if not i am for sure u can have them made up exactly like that , it just cost money to do stuff like that is all , lol joe
-
actually finepics has had the same problem , there is really nothing that can align wrong for it to do this, if it is aligned wrong it will simply not move at all, i would like to hear robs thoughts as well on this and see if his has done this as well joe
-
nice strap, imho i think it would look nicer on the black bezel version of the same watch, enjoy joe

Well this is a information place and i would like to share some info. about the new 7753 datewheels, first of all it is no ones fault what so ever, it is experimental stuff and sometimes stuff happens I got my finepics beautiful bolder font datewheel the other day, and kudos to u finepics for a nice datewheel finally, i was so tickled to get it cause i love my 188 panerai with 7753 eta movment, so i got it and installed it yesterday evening, well it all went back together like clockwork, and then i replaced my dial and tested its alignment, and that is where the problem started , it appears to get hung up half way in the window, so i figured something wasnt aligned correctly and i checked it out and all was perfect, scratching my head i couldnt figure it out , then i came to the conclusion it could be the new wheel is off a bit, well so far i cant see any major flaws that would cause this so i asked around and found another having the exact same problem , i will try and figure out what is the problem in time, but for now i just wanted to warn all that r thinking about doing this upgrade to think about before u do it cause u could run into this problem as well , and its not a cheap watch and or upgrade to get, especially if after u do it the watch doesnt perform properly anymore so if anyone has any suggestions and or comments please feel free to speak up here, again it is no ones fault and for the life of me i cant figure out why it is doing this , it just seems so textbook to have a hangup if u know what i mean thanks for listening joe

it should be able to pull out one click to move date and next click is to set time , then push back in and be able to self wind if u like, then push in slightly and screw it in to close it, some stems may be cut closer than others which would cause u to have to push it in further to screw it down, hope this helps joe
-
lol, i must of read it wrong, yeah i agree with logan , probably need the hand to be repositioned and in some cases epoxied in place so it will not move again , just depends on the watch and how snappy it is when resetting joe
-
top pusher starts and stops the seconds and when u stop it then u hit the bottom pusher to reset them back . hope this is what u mean joe
-
very nice great pics as well joe
-
wow how did i miss this thread, great watches, i feel u will have another beauty soon to add to this beautiful collection of yours, u have a real passion for perfection and it shows in your pictures, enjoy those babies joe
-
for me personally i like having a thicker tube only for the reason of doing my own retapping for waterproofness , but i will not be able to tell u till i get it in my hands , i can tell u they all have flaws to genuine and the top two r palps and davidsens so far , i have compared palps to my genuine in my hand and it still has the not like genuine look but better than the old ones we were using but i just got a new style panerai in to relume and it looks really darn good , it might be like davidsens but i cant varify that till i get one in my hands, as u all know i dont get crap from a pic , the only way is have it in your hand imho just my two cents joe
-
his crown looks nice in pics , i will let u know soon ok
-
yes the pic u show is the one most call the bond(the movie with red indices and lasers, lol), but if u do a bit more research u will see this is the one they call the original bond (really the original sub) and one of the hardest to find in genuine , reason is because it is basically the birthplace of the subs we have and love today

actually it could have been foiled after market syle to sell as new(i doubt it reallybut could have been), i cant see where mine on my watch appears to be foiled but i wouldreally have to take the crown off to really see and yes many rolex crowns r foiled the two tone subs r not solid gold , they r wrapped gold actually just like the stainless u r showing and basically just like our reps r , just better color of wrap basically -

it appears u had a genuine and rare twin lock crown for a sub (looks like the same one on my genuine sub with twin lock tube), these screwed down and didnt have the oring at the bottom and were the ones rolex started with in the beginning and r hard to find on gen. watches cause many were replaced by rolex when the older subs were sent in for servicing, so i think now u may can blame randy, lol im kidding joe -
u r hijacking the thread and taking away from what it was meant to be , u have nothing informative to add so please refrain from your childish acts, let the thread be informative as it was meant to be i would say the forum missed me and i missed them just going by my emails as a reply to your comment about the board
