  1. Just picked up my 3717 from the Spa... Not only did it go for a recalibration... it came back with some surprises, i did start this thread by saying you'd be seeing that 3717 for the last time... Pics first. First a face on photo Next... a lume shot after 10s UV A closeup of the lume marker at 12 Lume marker at 3 Super closeup of marker at 3 I'm sure the more au fait would have guessed the mods. This baby has just shot up many notches with a gen dial, d/d wheels and gen hands! I will do a side by side comparison of gen and rep dial a bit later on. First impressions are the lume markers are a dead giveaway cos they look more chunky and sharp edged on the rep. Mods done to my 3717 so far : Taka AR ETA d/d wheels Full service and tuning by Spin +/- 3s per day Gen Dial Gen Hands New caseback to replace scratches Gen buckle Stay tuned for the comparison. TanG
  2. Hi Guys, i know this is a pinned thread, but i need to clarify something that differs from the guide. I have a seller of a 93160 with 592B endlinks insisting that this will fit my 16610 sub. Can anyone clarify this?? Thanks
  3. Pretty much.. just snap the stem into 2
  4. Whatever version Josh has, i'm sure King and all the rest have as well. Just get photos of the watch you want and send it to a dealer.
  5. If you've been reading for a few weeks.. you'd be aware this topic has been covered over many times as well as the dealers to buy em from... Do some focussed searching and reading esp of reviews of watches you're interested in and you will not be disappointed. My choice are SOH V2, UPO, If you can call it out of the box, WM9 V2
  6. All the best to your and family Nik, hope i didn't stress u too much Things arrived fantastic, Concepta's a stand up guy and its good to have you back mate.
  7. Thanks Red. Even my wife thought i bought a new watch! I was surprised how different it made my 3717 look compared to on the rep strap or the kevlar watchboy strap.
  8. Just updating with another pic of another AR mod completed. Photo is taken with Iphone till focus limit so i dun think anyone looks at their watch this closely! If you do, you should wear a clock! Hope Ash doesn't mind me posting photo of his dial... You can refer to photo of gen in 1st page. I'm almost done writing up a complete tutorial, if you are interested, just shoot me a PM with your email titled Ar mod tutorial pls. Do note that recent batches of Sinn U2s are shipping with a really horrid painted on Ar button which is too big to drill a hole and no plastic white button to mod. Do check with your dealer before ordering. Cheers TanG
  9. That's a really cute emoticon Miike! Thanks for your words.. glad to have you back my friend... So what's next for ya?
  10. Hey now... we'll here for each other.. like minds gather in a place like this. And also, that's why we organize local GTG as well.. I dun give 2 hoots about someone who can't tell a rolex and a cartier apart or think quartz are the best thing that's ever been invented. Even my wife got into the action.. but i secretly believe its a prelude to getting the gen.. bleh
  11. Hey BK! You just got here and now you're leaving? The rep world has loads to offer my friend... Dun be discouraged by a few hiccups. I still remember back in March i ordered a total of 4 reps. Of which i only have 1 now. 2 were sent back for a refund and another sold off. Yeh i was on a 50% hit rate and was feeling quite discouraged as well but i told myself to keep reading and searching for a dealer i could trust, i can depend on... And i finally found one. My opinion is most of the dealers here will not bat an eyelid about selling you a watch, but not many will want to hear from you if you want an exchange, refund or replacement parts. I believe any dealer that doesn't have the patience to reply your emails promptly, provide reasonable aftersales support do not deserve a single cent more from you. Take a break my friend, stick around and read things that interest you. One day, you will be ready to dive right in again and we'll all be here with open arms! Cheers TanG
  12. Thanks mate. http://www.bostonwatchexchange.com/servlet/the-360/HOROSTIX-Watch-Micro-dsh-Detail--fdsh-/Detail Here's what i did with a U2 for DrBatz
  13. Was browsing and reading RWI and read complaints that of late the Sinn U1 reps were coming with green markers and had horrid grainy lume. (http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/first-rep-bought-sinn-u1-54283.html) Sure enough, received a U1 dial and it had blotches of light lime green markers and the lume was appaling compared to the rep Sinn U2. As a favour to my friend, whipped up the trusty horostick and lumed to save his poor dial. Looks much better imho than when i received it... Not sure what happened to this rep that used to be quite brilliant otb... Pics of lume before touching up are enclosed. Relumed dial Dial after 10s UV Relumed hands Hands after 10s UV Hopefully, this is just a batch problem with the Sinn U1s and the quality of rep lume will improve.. otherwise it'll be such a waste of an excellent rep for a nice diver's watch. Cheers TanG
  14. Is it my imagination or is the lume on the gen UPO dial blue? Anyone?
  15. Yes congratz my fren, just compare to my photos and you can be sure. It was never a myth my friend, just find a dealer that doesn't drop ship, does QC diligently and i think you will get what you pay for. In fact, the price difference btw asian n eta are so close these days that i always pick the ETA. Afterall, there are watch smiths that DO not service clone mvmts. To each his own, but if you're gonna svc your watch with either service, i reckon the ETA should last longer and come out better than the clone. But that's just mho. Enjoy!
  16. Ahh yes. The credit goes to King for her excellent QC and guaranteed ETA. 3 out of 3 ETAs later, i can say she's my trusted dealer!
  17. After a sneak preview... we have the unveiling. My 45.5 Omega UPO black bezel/white numbers ETA 2824-2 on SS bracelet with spare rubber strap. My impressions: The watch has a very solid feel on the wrist, good weight, slightly heavier than my Skyland avenger. I believe the UPO seems larger on the wrist because of the lug size. Coupled with a long solid clasp below, the watch can give a tight fit on the wrist. The bracelet is a pain to adjust.. quite a bit of tools needed for the operation. The rep lume on the dial however is unimpressive and will be relumed .. maybe to stealth blue Perhaps a gen dial will best resolve this. Bezel has 120 clicks, turns smoothly and i can't imagine if the ceramic Liquid metal version comes out.. that'll be a jigsaw complete. Only gripe i have is the common one about the flimpsy crown. It feels like the stem is going to snap when you're winding the watch. So most likely a gen crown, tube is a must mod for UPO. Most likely followed up with gen hands and a dial, Taka or chief AR and i think we have ourselves a keeper Waiting for my Black bezel, orange numbers to arrive now Enjoy folks! A closeup Pearl shot Caseback UPO Clasp Diver extension Inside engraving on Bracelet --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now for the inside. If only it was a caliber 2500 co-axial Caseback Inside Anti-magnetic cover ETA Jewel - note the 3 clasps, 3 grooves Yes folks, its a ETA 2824-2 DM --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lastly, how can anyone forget.. a wristie
  18. My dealer actually gets the watch from the factory, opens it and verifies ETA then sends it out. But i get what you mean.
  19. Yes its kindof a glossy black.. not over glossy though. really thick good leather though. Pure white stitchings to contrast. Perhaps pics of what you're asking might help a lot mate.
  20. Dun have a pic.. but my best rep is my Starwalker Montblanc pen for grand total of USD$2. Free refill provided.
  21. Thanks mate... the strap is hand made and feels really good. Suddenly my 3717 looks like it ready for a dogfight. Managed to snag it for a great price on the bay on auction
  22. Well.. i ordered an ETA, so i shall verify that when i open it and shoot pics. But i trust my dealer enough although... one can never be sure
  23. My opinion is If you have a long term project in mind, get an ETA, service it like plaf says and it will serve you well.
  24. Thanks! I will! When i went to the canal rep market in Shanghai, the dealers were explaining they had Crap/A/AAA+ quality. Haha.. guess its real afterall! Can't decide... Steel or rubber... haha shall size both and feel the difference.
  25. Yeh dealer.. Ordering gen crown/tube, prob Taka AR and a relumed dial/hands.. Hopefully i will be up before the world cup and will do a photo unveiling
