  1. Hey Deniz, For me the U2 is a fantastic rep otb. Even if you do not relume... you owe it yerself to at least do this AR mod and complete the gen look. Otherwise it'll always be a cheap white button sticking out (like a sore thumb literally!) I'd actually wear this into an AD and not be worried they'll call me out. Unless there's a blackout but then again, my U2 is lumed like gen or brighter so.. it'll be a torch Wear if proud!
  2. WOW amazing work as usual The Zigmeister.. those round dots are each a work of art. Now i'm so hesitant to post my own lumed hands. But the purpose is just to show the difference btw rep lume and C1 lume of the Sinn U2 hands Daylight shot Night shot
  3. Hi guys, Not sure how popular the Sinn U2 is in RWG. I've just completed a Sinn U2 AR Capsule mod (The white button at 6 oclock) as a favor for a friend and decided while i'm at it, might as well make it into a Pictorial tutorial since i did something similar for this friend. Photo of Gen Tools you will need are shown in pic below, well not everything but most. Others will be black paint, thinner and the usual clean up stuff. My friend's (Great U2 - as in Bono fan) watch Just a check to ensure the dealer sent a swiss ETA I will not bore you with how to strip a 2836-2.. i've seen couple of tutorials that are excellent in this forum. So on to the Rep Ar capsule With a sharp toothpick or end of plier, gently push the Ar capsule out from the bottom. Be careful cos this is projectile time. Then start filing using a very fine round file marked at 1.3mm diameter (Dun ask me why.. its days of precise calculation..) After filing.. there will be a ring of metal visible on the dial surface... not a pleasant sight... Use a blower and very fine brush/rodico to get rid of all the nasty metal filings Remember the black paint? Use your finest oiler and get to work...I use matt black paint (quick dry) from your local DIY store. Smallest tin you can find Close up shot.. it may seem a little rough but this is blown up and magnified... you can fine file the top surface but i have found this unnecessary after painting. Remember that little white button? Hope you still have it. Cos stick on some glue round the back of the hole you filed and stick on the button. Use pliers cos its ~1.6mm diameter only. I leave you with the finished product... Note the inside of the hole is stainless steel and outside ring is black like in the gen photo. much more gen looking U2 i'd say. Taken with my phone... my D90 batt died on me. And folks. That's it. Pls PM any questions etc. Cheers! Hope this helps - my way of giving back
  4. WAT? wear to workout? I get a workout wearing my skyland on Pro II bracelet already.... Now i have a stronger left wrist.. wonder what i can do with it?
  5. +1 for the SOH. BT you have to just relax your tolerance by 1mm.. just 1mm and you can include the SOH in your consideration
  6. Agree about the gen dial... but it'll be quite a lotto win to even find a gen dial cos i've been looking hard on the bay. SA dials everywhere but no skylands. Hence, i decided a V3 dial should suffice for now, i got a nasty tinny bit of lume sticking out of my 4 marker.. BTW, i think people have reached the peak of their SA desire... its now seeing diminishing marginal returns cos everyone's selling theirs on forums, just last few months they were the talk of town..
  7. Hush now.... if you dun bring it up.. we might all forget ur still a VIR-GIN. BTW its boxers or nothing for me.. still love the airy feeling.. this is seriously going OT. Well.. how did we get from lume into balls?
  8. The Skyland V2 is my fav still, just a bid ahead of my modded Sinn U2. Just ordered a V3 black dial... I think the V2 skyland coupled with a V3 dial to correct the lume dots just seals it for me. Simplest but effective mod $700 reps you will love... only if they're WM9!
  9. K, send it o'er here. I'll send it on to HKTan and we can all get nice straps outta it... VINTAGE.
  10. OH dear Cougaree.... different colored pretty underwear is for when the pants come down Agreed on the feeling of incomplete and as a general rule, or rather IMO, hands are normally lumed slightly brighter than the dial...That's the way i do it anyway
  11. Or would u rather take a The Zigmeister lumed torch?
  12. Think of it as a must-have step in the quest for gen-dom. Rep lume is known to be very weak, AR is improving but lume is still consistently weak. Its not like pple here use their watches as torches in the night.. but its exactly why we would mod say a gen springbar... (which eludes me) But anyhow, it is a essential step towards getting closer to the gen. That's all it is to me. As to the cost of luming... i'll leave it to the experts to show why it is all worthwhile.
  13. Although its hard to see.. but i can make out the DM engravings.. proper engravings + 3 notches = ETA for me.
  14. Think he mentioned he had The Zigmeister magiked the lume dots.. Great shots Cougaree and certainly great catch with the SOSF gen dial! Sourcing for these are like hitting the Lotto! You must have outbidded half the world to get it, but its all so worth it. What cha gonna do for your SOH now? The Rep Pro II i hear is nowwhere near the gen but i love it with my skyland compared to a leather... Love the weight.
  15. Thanks a lot for sharing guys.. and great photos Chief. Can you guys share the specific tool bit, like the name or serial number if you're using dremel? Just realised there's gradings from coarse to super fine and like 5 different types of cloth mops!.. Thanks!

    World cup

Spain's were never tournament players, or rather winners.. but they proved all wrong in 2008. My heart is still with L'orange.... But i know they'll just raise me up and crash me down to reality like always.. my money's on North Korea... they will threaten their way into the finals! Lemme win or i'll NUKE u
  17. Hi all, Found some threads about polishing and buffing bracelet but few describing their setup and tool bits used. I'm into Amazon looking to get my handheld Dremel from em and just wondering what tool bits will be useful for polishing, buffing and other general modding like drilling, shaving crownguards, inserts etc.... you get it! Hope guys here can share your setup, which handheld, bench tool and importantly, tool bits. Thanks! G
  18. Been troughing the bay for parts for my 16710 project and came across several items like the one below. Its a brandless explorer/gmt from Parnis factory with sterile dial. The bezel case crystal is made to resemble the explorer II. Has anyone tried getting one of these and swapping in a explorer dial? Just thinking it would make an suitable base for modding. http://cgi.ebay.com/Explorer-II-GMT-Dual-Time-Submariner-Watch-Master-Sub-/330432620438?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Wristwatches&hash=item4cef51a796
  19. Love the creamy dial fulanito. Never let this one go!
  20. Deleted due wrong context. This thread is for beauties!
  21. Congratz my friend! Good to know you snagged a deal with a gen ETA (Couragee! It does happen!).... do keep your mvmt photos so you can tell a gen eta in the future.. You can get more detailed info from eta.ch website with the technical docs. So the problem was the rotor? That is a common symptom for rattling sounds after dropping or knocking. Wear it well my friend! PHotos!
  22. http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=breitling+clasp+20mm&_sacat=See-All-Categories Are these suitable? or are you only looking for clasp that hide the strap?
