That's a slam dunk sir!

Payment sent too. Looks like I was late here and should have sent it to RWG.
Either way, many thanks to you The Zigmeister!

Thanks tmg, I agree your Omega hands trick looks VERY good. I don't have the skill or tools to modify them to fit though
Sadly, I don't have these skills either. I leave these matters to a good watchmaker.

Thanks for this post. I was just starting to compare gens to the reps I've seen online and the lume, datewheel and mag were the big things that stood out. The Swiss markings on the bottom are quite different as I think it needs the "<25" markings...pull out that pen!!
TT, early 1655's had the T Swiss T marking and a different shaped coronet on the dials.

Cold this possibly be over the top even for JFreeman???

Congrats DT, very nice piece indeed! Nice folded bracelet, I love how light they are on the wrist.
-
Slart,
If you want hands that look spot on to the gen 1655 hands, Omega has a set that I believe are for the 70's Flightmaster model, that need some broaching on the minute hand to fit an ETA movement and that's it.
Here's what they look like and the best part they're ~$30 at Ofrei for a NOS pair. They really make a huge difference.

Still awaiting that Omega Speedy I got on the cheap on Le Side Dark. It's coming from Australia, but I'll post some shots when it does, TMG.
Ever since Dr. Sally Ride, I wanted to be an astronaut. Not that I would wear the Speedy, but it's nice to look at the watch and the heroes who wore them.
Agreed the Speedmaster has a lot of nostalgia and history to it. Keep us posted Vic, nice to see that you're going to finally give a Speedy a try.

This baby can't wait for the new engraved 201A dial that's under development that DSN is working on

The Zigmeister, we hope to see you around here still but I certainly understand your decision. It's a big loss for RWG.
Thank you for your wonderful work/artistry, integrity and exceptional service.
Happy Holidays!

Hi Mezz,
it would likely be $300-$400 along with a movement service. More if you want other work on the case, such as crown guards trimmed down.
Ping some of our modders/watchmakers to find out the exact costs.

Nice photos and a great start MJM -a lot of really expert advice here already.
I know I'm lost without my tripod and the light tent is another must have.

Did your dial come from them too TMG?
Hi Dluddy,
ND Trading actually.

The mercury took a plunge overnight. Finally winter is upon us!
Great shot TWP
-as always!

Thanks Pfff, I believe jewelryandwatch.com is the only one that sells the 5517 case and be warned they ain't cheap
Agreed, vintage sports models were the golden age of Rolex for sure.
Feel free to share some photos of your 1680 when you get a chance.

Finally, I have my "nice" Vietnam 5517 case in hand. I'm very impressed with the quality. The one pictured in the previous teaser was my MBW case from the other project.
and of course some pix....

I'd be cautious, been a member since 8.07 and 16 feedbacks. It would be no differnet than if it a gen were being auctioned.

Hello all, Sorry if its a stupid question but what is the difference in the two manufacturers i.e. MBW and MBK. MBW is marie s best watch correct?, is there a difference in quality between the two. Thanks for your help.
They're one in the same.

@TMG: cool, as the 1655 is not worn right now, I would sacrifice myself to help it to get some wrist time
Ah, the burdens we must all bear at times!
