what fun are gens? I have a gen 5001-07 and I'm not nearly as excited as I am with the purchase of this rep. to each his own
-
I recently took my SSD apart. I had a semi-difficult time getting the bezel off.. My question is: When you place a bezel on a flat surface, should it lie flat or is there some curve to it? Did I bend the bezel while taking it off?!
-
It has begun... Concepta has been commissioned... Gen: complete case set (case, crystal, pushers, crown, anti-mag cover, caseback), dial, hands, german date wheel, & movement Rep: strap and buckle More to come...

"well made" LMAO

Looking forward to seeing the final build!!! Wish I was as lucky as you to pick up such great parts!
-
Awesome! I'm one of those who think the sports models should all still have the lugholes. Maybe with the exception of the Daytonas. I just really love the look. The SSD looks great too. Get a BK datewheel overlay to really help out the looks of the date!

that looks nice! i don't know if it is the exact one you're looking for.. but if you don't take it, let me know where to get it!

I put a Speedmaster Broad Arrow up for sale on another forum. It's sold pending funds, but I realized I had a hidden gem.. sort of. LOL I didn't know it was reviewed here http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=947 After reading the review I totally regret selling it for some reason.. LOL I need the funds for a project.. but after reading the review, suddenly I feel attached to this watch I haven't worn for literally years! Am I weird or anyone else had the same exp?
-
That looks fantastic! Think once I'm done with a couple projects, I will be contacting BK!

From what I've read, the GMT is decent oob but biggest tell is no ar on the date mag. the yachtmaster i would look for a BK. the explorer is ok but has wrong colored indices surrounding the lume.

@ JMB: So this thing he described really exists? Sorry I'm so ignorant in this field.. @ Ubi: You my hero man, encyclopedia!! What about seadwellers? Gmt Masters? I'm really liking the looks of the holes on the sport models and may end up putting holes in all my sport models

what springbars did the newer subs use? The newer ones that still had the outside holes? Circa 90's? I'm not even sure when the no holes started to be made.. The same as the older vintage? What kind of endlinks did these newer subs have? SEL? Questions that have been floating around in my head..

WOW! whew!!!!! Thanks ubi! That makes sense.. The springbar would slip right through! I'm not blonde.. really. LOL my noobness is showing..

I've been searching high and low for a way to drill lug holes through a case with no exterior lug hole. I'm happy to report that I might have found a solution! I own a restaurant, which makes it easy to meet lots of different people. There happens to be a company near by and the owners and employees all are regulars at my shop. I knew he did some kind of work with metals, and made a mental note to ask him more about his work when I saw him. Well, he came in today along with one of his machinists. Turns out he deals with stainless steel mostly! I showed Rollie case I had and explained that I wanted to make the lug holes go all the way through. His reply, "no problem, bring the case by and I'll drill it for you." Me, "but you see there is a slope and the bit will walk or bend.." Thn he went on to explain something about a wire that gets super hot and makes the hole. So basically there is no drill involved at first. After the precision hole is made with this "hot wire" then they would drill it out to 2mm. As I've said before, I don't know jack when it comes to these things... JMB or any other experts, please chime in and tell me this "hot wire" exists and he wasn't just BS-ing me to get a discount off his lunch! LOL Also, I told him if this is as easy as he says and since we are neighbors, would he be willing to do a lot more cases for me whenever I needed.. He told me "any time! no problem!" So, If my case isn't ruined and he does in fact drill it with precision (a word that is in his comany's name btw) and any fellow members out there want it done, shoot me a pm and all you need to do is pay for shipping your case here to CA and back. I'll take my watch apart then take the case to him today or tomorrow.. I'll keep you all posted!

Rob is the best. Watchsmith, customer service, work quality, skills... the list goes on. Absolutely the best I've dealt with and the best work I've seen. I'm going to stop now before my man-crush gets revealed..

OK friends, I'm asking for some good advice and some serious help here. I'm planning a super-franken project and need to sell some watches. I have 2 PAMs and decided to sell one. Dilemma: which one?! PAM 02a- bought from Oncyte. Specs: Pre-v case nearly strap notchless A6497 with swan neck- Serviced by Zigmeister Dec '10 Sapphire crystal with no AR H3 tall cannon pinion - flattened and polished Hands flushed to CP Rare 1st gen Palp crown - waaayy better than the current ones he offers Rare thick A series CG - pin flattened, hot glue fixed and polished (also has double bevel inside like gen) Zigmeister custom tritium superlumed 02a dial Zigmeister custom tritium superlumed hands DSN 02a caseback Lever snaps in nice and tight Lug screws are pretty flush on both sides Or... PAM 177H bought from Noobypanfan specs: Older cartel Ti case Little Hero Dial Little Hero Hands All the usual PAM mods Mineral Crystal (But I do have a Sapphire for this. It just needs to be swapped in) Sorry, this is all I remember and the original sales thread is on RG... which is down at the moment.. Maybe Noobypanfan can chime in and fill in anything I missed? I love both but one needs to go. Which do you guys think I should keep and why? Many thanks to anyone who can help me with my PAM dilemma!

I can envision something like this too! Kind of a "C" type clamp.. but instead of clamping, you put the bottom of the C into the original hole and the top part of the C lines up the drill.. But then again I don't know much about this subject. WOW thanks everyone for the great learning experience! Keep up the suggestions, ideas, and coms!

that is an awesome looking watch! great job on the lume!

My daughter was born 11/30/10! Congrats to you! Your watch is amazing! How did you AR the cyclops? That is the only thing stopping me from starting a gmtIIc project.

I've read how difficult it is to drill lug holes in cases that don't have them on the outside of the lugs. My question is: Who's got the equipment and skills to do this? Any help will be greatly appreciated! The closest thing I've got to a power tool is my dremel
-
That looks pretty cool! Like the 6542 pan-am white dials.

Thanks Dizzy! Great ref pics! Seems i will be swapping casebacks! Weird how the old 1680 rep has the caseback of a daytona on it.
