Blue Sphere hit it on the head. Rolex and LVMH. Player haters. someone needs to post the "haters gotta hate" gif! I think if the factories snuck out a perfect vintage piece or two, they could slip under the radar. Modern models would draw more attention. The 1655 was pretty decent and had a mid case that accepted gen parts. Not to mention the great folded bracelet it came with. All for under $100! The second version even corrected the outer markers on the dial. Then that was it. poof. gone. 1675 like LHOOQ said.. well let's just say the little blue pill wouldn't even be able to jump start that bad boy. PT has the 1665 and the 1680's which are decent and we've all figured out how to make them pretty darn good. MBW's are still around too. Maybe if we all stopped and showed the factories that we like to whine like the Pam guys (and I'm one of them, so please don't kill me) about the little nitty bits and pieces like, "does that 9 look funny to you?! we're all not buying one until it is fixed!" And you know what? The 9 gets fixed before release! Sure it gets delayed a little.. but it gets fixed! How long have we complained about the friggin crown guards?!!! Just gimme a good pearl for goodness' sake! I was hopeful with the release of the new 16610LV and 16622 with the 3035 clone. Especially since Angus was asking who the Rolex experts were because he needed their advice for the factory. I mean how cool is that? Angus is super cool. Then it was released. Movement seems like a winner, but everything else is just like what we have been seeing. And we can't purchase just the movements. I wonder what would have happened if all of us complained big time, and the sales of those watches bit the dust. I bet the factories would bust their bums to get at least some of the issues fixed in hopes of moving some watches. I dunno.. I'm bored and starting to rant.

Rep factories seem to be having a war over making a 1:1 Panerai these days. N-Factory this. H-Factory that. Very much like the East coast vs West coast hip-hop rivalry. Pam heads get to sit back and reap the benefits of a "who can out do who" battle of the Guangzhou. New fantastic reps seem to be put out every month! That is, until Tofu Shakur and Biggie Shrimpchips shoots eachother. But being a Pam fan myself, I hope the war goes on! But the Rolex lover in me can't help but ask, why can't they make a decent pearl, or a dial without the word "date" on it, not to mention crown gaurds, when the factories can get 98% of a Pam correct and the only fixes needed is to open up a bit of space between the crown and case and change the strap?! Hey factories! If you can hear me, put some effort into some 1:1 Rollies! Please! Purty please! I'll even put some sweet and sour sauce on top! Maybe the supposed new and improved 16600 will kick off a Rolex war. End of senseless rant. No offense to those who like tofu, shrimp chips, and or sweet and sour sauce. I love all three!

What strap/bracelet to use for a 1665 GW SD?
grifter replied to watchguy51's topic in The Rolex Area
i recently picked up some 585's for my MBW 1665. i then picked up a rep 93150 and simply opened up the end to take the 2mm spring bars. the bracelet, end links, and spring bars fit like a glove and mount very nicely to the watch head. if you want to go the tropic route, there are some rep ones on fleabay for 20 some odd bucks. try those out then decide if you want the $100+ tropic straps. also get the custom end link adaptors for straps. imho looks awesome on rollies. guy over on trf makes and sells them. i can't think of his name, but if you need it let me know and i'll search for it. -
very envious! nice collection!

Ok my friends, sorry for the long delay in getting pictures up! This was my first time using a macro lens, so please forgive the dust. Huge thank you to Concepta! The watch is.. well perfect, as it is all gen except the strap. Enjoy the pics!

Thanks again guys! Thanks Chi for the info on NP, I didn't know it was NDT. Pbdad had to relume the dial 3 times before it was up to his standards. The original markers were an ugly orange. His patience and willingness to do then redo and redo again, without me having to even ask is why I say his service is top notch! I'll stick with the rep caseback, but if I ever come across a bracelet and or clasp for a good deal I will definitely pick it up! In the meantime I'll just rock this the way it is. Happy Easter bros!

Thanks my friends! Diz- The dial is from NP, a seller on the bay. (there are a series of numbers after the "np" but can't remember them) Storm- this is a keeper LH- I'm super specific and bomb pbdad with descriptive emails along with photo examples. He's very understanding and is also very detail oriented so appreciates the fine tuned instruction. This project logged in over 100 emails back and forth. My 1655 had a little over 75. One of the many reasons why I love working with him. Freddy- I agree about the cg's. They are a bit too tall and look too nice compared to the insert. I didn't realize how much thinner the gen 702 was to the rep 703! I purposely chose to mismatch the pearl and the lume however, after falling in love with a pic I found of a triple 6 on the net. Plus the pearl has a crack in it, which would cause more repid patinization (is that a word?!)

This started life as a Jackjo swiss SSD. Then Pbdad was brought in after I sourced some parts and the outcome is spectacular. Pbdad is hands down one of the best in my book. His customer service is top notch. His work speaks for itself. round 3 open 6 & 9 datewheel is killer! Thanks Pbdad, for making a dream watch of mine a reality!

Looking good my friend! Can't wait to see the finished products! -
Hello friends! Does anyone know if the rep GMT IIc can take a gen dial? What about a gen bezel assembly with gen ceramic insert? I know there are different versions of the 116710. Incorrect rehaut engraving, correct rehaut engraving, etc.. but are they different measurements? Please reply if you have any knowledge or information. Thanks!

I got the same run around from Tourneau. Man I hate them! I'm going to call the IWC boutique in Las Vegas and Beverly Hills and see if they can just mail me some. MB, I'll see if I can get a few sets and mail you some if they send them.
