  1. I gotta say a couple things about the ETA 2678 mvt's used in these. The winding mech. in them is literally silent and when set in sync and wound, they keep exact time with each other. These weren't set to "sync" for the picture...to be honost they were set sync almost 16 hours ago. IMO...that's pretty impressive.
  2. I'm sticking to having a pair of BK WM9's slightly modded. I did run into a minor set-back as it seems the inner teeth on my latest one are wiped out
  3. Hey guys. I've recently been in the process of obtaining gen parts for a BK WM9 Sub project. Along the way I've acquired 6 gen inserts and I'm noticing differences in them. Some have 4's with the inside comming to a point at the top and some have 4's with the inside being flat at the top. Does anyone know what year Rolex changed the inside of the "4" on the 40 mark?? Also,it's pretty easy to spot the differences in a rep pearl and a gen pearl with a 20x loupe, but I have another question. Does anyone know the lifespan of the luminova in a gen pearl?? Because I have what very much looks to be a gen pearl though it's not active..it doesn't glow. And I've since noted that the jeweler I acquired these from has his listed for sale stating whether they do or do NOT glow. Did Rolex even ever make a non-luminescent pearl for the Submariner bezel insert and if so, does anyone know what years?? Thanks in advance for the replies and info from the "pros".
  4. Sounds about right. I bought my first (and only) SS 16610 Sub in 1992. And I recall purchasing it for 1950.00 from Gold and Guns Pawn Shop on Airline Hwy. in Gonzales,La. That same 16610 would run right at 4200.00 today.
  5. Cool, Capt. Be sure to let us know what BK says about the WM9's. BTW...I'm going to put the gen 93150/501B on hold and go for the gen dial, if I can find one. The one we discussed is nice but if I'm going "all the way" on one of these I may as well stay date correct.
  6. THANKS for the info !!! I'm glad to hear the gen C2 crystal will fit the v2 as I've already got 2 of them waiting at the house. I DO have another question for you, sir. I'm fairly certain the numbers of the crowns I've scooped up are the 24-703-0. But what about the tube needed to put these in the eta 2678 mvt??? BK says he has a custom tube for this application but out of curiousity will a gen 16610 tube work as well??
  7. Out of curiousity, does the Tech Manual you've referred to mention anything that could be helpful in trying to determine the "specs" and uses of a crystal that doesn't have a package with labeled part number?? Perhaps exact diameter and thickness measurements?? Thanks again.
  8. WOW !!! Now THATS a BEAUTIFUL looking Sub. I love the serti/blue color combo.
  9. Thanks for that info, sir. I will ask Euromariner how it's done. I can see the crystal going in from the top well enough, but how do you get the other crystal out from the top with having to pry it out?? And a crystal press is needed to fully seat the crystal or to fit the bezel insert around the outer diameter of the crystal??? If it's that tight between the insert and the crystal, how is it able to turn freely?? Regards
  10. That's a very wise decision. I would do it the way BK recommends as well. I've not yet asked his advice as the last PM I had with him was a quote on his sourcing the gen parts and installing them. Can't blame a man for wanting to save a few bucks whenever possible. Certainly NO offense to BK.
  11. Thanks for the info, guys. I've heard talk of having to lightly sand the edge of a gen insert to allow for a "snap" fit. Is this talk referring to the outer edge (diameter) of the insert or the flat edge of the insert that sits on the bezel itself.?? And if sanding the retaining ring is required, I take it that means gently sanding the inside of the ring to "open it up" just a tad because the diameter of the gen crystal is slightly larger than that of the Clarks??? Also, where might I find tutorials to remove the mvt if I were to go about doing the crystal swap myself?? I know it's probably best to let someone who knows what they're doing and has done it before handle the job, but that's why I scooped up a couple cheap Subs on CL before ever diving into the rep world. To practice and learn on. Thanks for all the helpful info, guys. I'm hoping to be able to do the job myself if it isn't too difficult.
  12. Reading all of this has now gotten me a bit confused. I have a v2 and have recently gotten a gen crystal w/gasket and gen bezel insert. So these won't just swap out with the rep parts? And I'm also going to need a gen crystal retaining ring?? The more I read about all this gen part replacement and the more I look at the v2's, I'm beginning to think I should change then inserts on them and leave the rest alone. I wear mine as a beater anyway and to be honost I'm only doing the gen part thing for something to do. I myself am perfectly happy with the way they look now.
  13. That is some good info, guys.I only wish I'd read it sooner and looked/asked around a bit on the bracelet topic. I've moved forward with gen modding my pair of BK WM9 v2's. While the bracelets seems pretty good to me, I wanted better and wasn't aware there WAS any available rep bracelet that was. So I may have goofed in going for the gen 93150/501B bracelet. Where am I to find a better rep bracelet?? The v2's have the 93250 and numbered only on the clasp and on the ends of the bracelet end links. Didn't know anyone even made a rep 93150 with 501B end links.
  14. Thanks for that useful info, sir. So I really won't need a gen tube?? Just the crown??
  15. Hey guys, I've got a pair of BK WM9 v2's I'm attempting to mod a bit with gen parts. I'm wanting to be sure the 7mm gen crown and tube for the 16610 Sub will fit on the v2 that employs the eta 2678 mvt. before I proceed?? Anyone know?? I've gotten 2 gen 315-16800-81 inserts and 1 25-295-C2 gen crystal and from the looks of it they will fit fine but not sure about the crowns.
  16. Ahhh...thanks for clarifying that.
  17. Great. And yes I PM's the admin for the name change.

Have you seen YM's 9411 Tudor listed for 750.00?? In your opinion, which is the better deal? I especially like that YM's has the engraved case back. I won't have the correct case back with Crokey having started with a 1680. Let me know your thoughts on comparing the 2 Tudors.

  18. Jack....the "Noobs" of today are not the same noobs of early. Noob is a "catch-phrase" following a run of watches from closer to 2 1/2 years ago. At the time of their arrival, they were deemed to be "the best yet" so dealers have "coined" the the noob name. There is no per-say, "noob factory". That, my friend, simply doesn't exist. Ask BK about it..I'm sure he can fill you in much better on that.
  19. Jack: That's a sweet looking 16613, but I sent the wrong watch. That's the rep. Please send it back to me...... lol
  20. The mbk dial is from a noobmariner???? I bought this listed as a MBW LV. You're saying that the dial on the watch Capt is referring to isn't actually a MBW LV, or that the MBW used a mbk dial in the LV??
  21. What exactly is a WIS ??
  22. Yes indeed...VERY NICE build. Congrats on such a fine looking watch.
  23. Any of you guys know where to find a rep Tudor Sub 94110, blue dial with snowflake hands?? One with the date??
  24. Can you source gen Rolex parts too, or are you exclusively Breitling??
  25. Here is the best I could do in showing the height of the crystal over the insert. These are the BK WM9 v2 and the MBW LV Submariners
