  1. Yes. And that's why I would definitely not buy those in gen forms. If it can be faked so easily, the manufacturer is not making much of a product. That is, their design skills (see Hublot) may be great but their technical expertise is lacking.
  2. No fakes can touch the high end watches in terms of workmanship and beautifully decorated in house movements. And then there are rolexes which the reps simply don't come close enough in terms of authentication details. As far as restoring a vintage goes... They're too old for me. And I don't have time nor passion for watch repairs.
  3. But actually if I saw someone wearing a visually indistinguishable replica of the watch I own in gen form that's special to me (5127) I would feel a little sad. Good thing that will never happen.
  4. Interesting thread. I've seen people get offended similarly for pirating music and software. I guess people love their products and brands even if they're not investors in those companies whose products are being counterfeited. I think it's a problem for the watch industry to worry about for sure but what the [censored] do I care lol
  5. The lume on the inner bezel is fairly obvious.
  6. I'm surprised there isn't more discussion about this beautiful accurate rep. Anyone have a gen at hand for comparison?
  7. Hmm.. Seems like the chronograph hand is slightly to the right of 0... Or am I just being picky?
  8. a week seems hopeful... i think people have been waiting for over a month.
  9. I am not sure I understand what you are saying...
  10. TD says: "Hi It is very minor .. My guys did not screw it all the way in .. No problems at all .." I guess now I will just wait for the package.............................. Hope the wait is not too long.
  11. I just got this picture from my TD and was wondering if this crown looks okay. There seems to be some space between the handle and I'm worried that it isn't good. here is the picture mine is on the right. another member's rep on the left.
  12. http://www.1-pc8838.com/0tglc01013-link-chrono-tachy-ssss-blue-asia-7750-28800-p-7477.html It seems that the model has been updated to now include AR. I think that was a much needed improvement as the reflection from the crystal is quite horried from my non-AR version.

  14. What do you guys think about his latest PAM380?
  15. 44mm panerai seemed a bit too big for 6.2" Various 42mm watches seemed okay. 43mm navitimer was also okay. 46mm navitimer world was a no go for sure. But then just rocking a really small watch on a small wrist is also not so great. One thing I can say is that the dial to bezel ratio seems to be important. A 42mm that is all dials (like in a dress watch) looks a lot larger than a 42mm that has thick bezels (like a sporty stainless steel watch).
  16. Also the newest one has the display caseback. For obvious reasons, it'd be wise not to have a rep with display caseback.
  17. I read that the newest gens have AR (as they should; it's like a 2-3K watch!!) but that the older ones (circa 2006) did not.
  18. You will be able to make sure in QC pics. I've seen this watch come up on trade forums and they all seemed to be the same. Incidentally I had this watch from a member and here are things to consider 1. Overall feel of the watch is great. 2. Outside markings are prone to be worn out if you use the watch often. 3. Supposedly the gen does not have AR either but I feel that the crystal is better on the gen... I suspect that the dial comes out better on the gen but it is a unconfirmed suspicion. 4. Movement would benefit from servicing. 5. Lume is almost non-existent. Overall I really enjoyed the watch but I would consider the non-chrono versions and other watches with fewer external markings on the bezel as the rep paint seems to come off rather easily (tachymetre markings).
