  1. I'd like to see this AP model...maybe it's just me though
  2. Me Neither. Can someone tell me more about those AP selections. As much as I like the ROO the seconds subdial kills it for me. I'm wondering if these are any closer.
  3. Agreed. It's unfortunate because the logo is my favorite model...DSN's has the proper slant but is large and nearly touches the writing. Like many of the Panerai models, It's all about what's the most acceptable flaw YOU personally can accept when choosing a logo watch....if I had to do it Over I'd probably have a DSN but I'm pretty attached to this watch and will likely own it for a very long time! Kruzer: You're correct...no recessed pin issue with the 21j movement BUT the head of the pin is slightly rounded and not flat, so again it's not perfect but acceptable for me for now! Thanks to all for the compliments.
  4. Kruzer: Thanks for the compliments. I knew if anyone could pick this apart it would be you and Babola. Do you think I should try to machine just a touch of material off of the crown guard or quit being picky and leave it? I believe I was told the palps crown is 2.09?...maybe I'm wrong there...I was just happy to find that it was not drilled incorrectly as i was worried becuase I got my crown around the time The Zigmeister was reporting issues with them. You'll laugh when I tell you who's case and dial...it's from Joshua and this watch is actually a "chepo" $100 21j movement watch. All I've done is lume and crown and some work of my own on the crown guard. For no more money than I've got in the watch it's turned out pretty well I think.
  5. Does anyone know if the Deployment clasp offered on the Carrera watch from our dealers will work with an OEM leather band. The reason for this question is: My brother has a Gen Carrera on a bracelet. His wife purchased him the OEM leather band for christmas but didn't realize that he'd also need a deployment clasp for the leather band. The OEM deployment clasp is $200 and he's looking for a less expensive alternative. Thanks in advance.
  6. Well I got a great suprise on Christmas Eve when the mail carrier came to the door with my return package from The Zigmeister. I had him install a palp crown and re-lume the dial with a mix of 80% C1 and 20% C3 super lume. I'm extremely happy with the results....see for yourself. The only thing i may still do is try to machine a little material off of the legs of the crown guard just a touch. I think the opening for the crown is still a touch too big and had I had rob install the crown slightly off of the case which I realize is more correct it would have looked OK...but personally I much prefer the crown sitting right against the case so I had rob install the crown this way. Also I've included pictures of my new all-black Savage strap and SC legend buckle that my wife got me as a christmas present...and a couple of the new watch box that she got for me as well (Don Carbon on the 212 is new too but not highlighted here). One final note...this is my first modified watch and Rob (The Zigmeister) was great to deal with...the work is top notch. Lume shot after 30 seconds of charging and 30 seconds of sitting prior to picture..my lume shots don't do the work justice
  7. Watchdude: That 005 is a beauty. When you say "older crownguard" is what killed you about yours, can you educate me on the differences between the older crownguard and a newer one?
  8. 005 is the only historic luminor model that I own to date...while I wish it could be a little more accurate it's my favorite model. Your pictures make me anxious to get mine back from The Zigmeister soon as I miss wearing it. My only nit-pick...maybe it's just the lighting in the pictures but do the hands still have C3 on them and the face have C1?
  9. Very nice collection! No mention of the crown on the 005, is it a palp as well?
  10. All of my orders from Joshua have taken approx 2 weeks to arrive no matter what time of year.
  11. If I had to have only one it would be a pretty traditional model. Luminor, stainless, black face....so basically a 111, 112, 000 or 005 I actally made this decision once already and went 005 and I'm very happy with it and despite the fact that it's probably the least accurate of all of the model's I've listed. It's still the only luminor model I own despite my obsession with Titanium lately.
  12. I figured I'd bump this thread rather than start a new one. The 3717 has really caught my eye and I'm curious if there's been an official review / buyers guild thread made for this watch that I"m not finding? Are all 3717's created equally (should I stick with the dealer that I've used all along and I'm comfortable with) or are there different / better sources out there for this watch. Thanks
  13. It def. tougher and tougher to tell based on just the appearance of the person. My favorite watch is my Gen. Omega speedmaster...I'll wear it anywhere and everywhere and it's usually the watch on my wrist when I"m driving my 15yr old Dodge truck in scruby clothing....and when I'm dressed smartly and driving something nice I'm usually wearing a rep...go figure.
  14. Good thread. To tell you the truth the only models that I can tell are reps are the ones that I own (Panerai and Breitling) Even on the ones I own there's always something else that I wasn't completely aware of. For instance AR should be a huge tell for most of us...but I remember before I even owned reps I never even noticed the AR on my gens...yet it's a tell on most reps As for Rolex models...I'm completely uneducated and unless it was a horrible rep with a ticking second hand I'd be lost. As a car guy the Daytona is naturally one of the holy grail watches for me but I'm yet to pick up a rep because even I can't pick out the tells and I'm horribly afraid of the seconds @ 6 movement.
  15. Victoria thank you for the help and added comments on the Cartier pieces.
  16. Well it's that gift giving time of the year again...and while my wife's not usually the type that would want a rep she's beginning to get caught up in my hobbie and suggested that it'd be OK if I bought her a rep for Christmas. In searching it seems like the Channel J12 and Patek 24 are the closest reps out there BUT she's not crazy on the J12 and it seems like the supply of good PP 24's have dried up (maybe I"m just looking in the wrong places). I wanted to get some feedback on other models. If I remember Eddie Lee used to offer about the only "Good" datejust for the ladies...but I"m not sure if that is still available or not Omega Constellation (double eagle): http://www.pc-80108.com/omco10020-double-e...6712-p-648.html Omega Aqua Terra: (This is one one that got the best response from her actually) http://www.pc-80108.com/omse10036-ladies-a...671-p-1741.html Cartier Tank: http://www.pc-80108.com/cart10013-tank-fra...uart-p-256.html Cartier Santos: http://www.pc-80108.com/cars10012-santos-m...del-p-2888.html LV Lovely Diamonds (this one was suprisingly looks close to my eye) http://www.pc-80108.com/lv10013-tambour-la...ial-p-2221.html VC Overseas: http://www.pc-80108.com/vc10008-overseas-w...712-p-1108.html Tag Senna: http://www.pc-80108.com/tg10037-ladies-sen...rtz-p-2323.html Tag Link Diamonds Mid Size: http://www.pc-80108.com/tg10041-link-size-...242-p-2338.html Am I missing any other decent ladies reps?...comments on the above watches? Thanks
  17. Exactly...but for the uneducated (like myself), where can I find the Logo buckles and sub buckles that you have there.
  18. All, I realize there was a picture thread containing buckles a couple of weeks back but besides outstanding pictures there was very little information on where the buckles were sourced. I'd like to see this thread include pictures of unique and interesting buckles as well as where they were sourced from. In particular I'd like to find a Penerai Pre-v style with a logo on it but I'd love to see others as well. For instance I never thought that I'd find anything with a skull on it interesting but I really like the SC legend buckles. Thanks in advance. Hopefully this can be an informative thread.
  19. Thanks Rob, luckily I've got all of the stuff you mention above. One question...does it decrease the risk a little if you make the adjustment with the watch not running?...I think it's inevitable that you'll see this one soon too for a full service and lume job, just trying to make it a little more accurate until that time.
  20. Gents....Sorry to bring up an old thread but this one has pictures that illustrate my question on regulating this movement. In the top picture the movement has "Arrow" for adjustment. In this movement is the Arrow that's pointed out for fine adjustment and the arm with the two gold rivits for course adjustments as pictured in the following movements without the "arrow" adjuster.? The movement in my PAM 212 is like the top one pictured and runs several minutes a day fast...I wanted to try to regulate it myself until I can send it to The Zigmeister to be serviced. Thanks...and sorry for the lack of correct terms.
  21. All, Any ideas on what might be the issue with my watch. It's a Gen Tag Heuer 1000 Professional from the early 90's w/Quarts movement. The issue is that the Second hand only moves every 4 seconds....but at that point it sweeps forward 4 seconds to where it should be. So basically it moves 15 times per minute rather than 60. Watch still keeps perfect time however which is what really baffles me. It's been a few years since it's had a battery so I suppose I could start there...but I'm still baffled how it's keeping perfect time if this is a battery issue.
  22. hummm...def. not good. I was going to purchase either a 176 or 177 for myself but had pushed the idea off until spring time...may have to act a bit quicker now as I really want to add a Ti. model.
  23. As the title states, I'm wondering what straps on the market are most like the OEM in look and feel. I now have a Savage custom made strap that I'm absolutely in love with but there are times when it's too bulky to comfortably wear with a dress shirt. I've looked at several AD's at the OEM straps and can't say that I'm particularly blown away by them...but that it'd be nice to have a slimmer strap for tucking away under a dress shirt. I currently have a Bob gator strap that I wear on my 212 that I somewhat disliked when I first got it becuase it was thin...but after looking at the OEM straps it actually seems very close to the OEM specs. Are there others out there other than BOB to look into as well (Don comes to mind) that make a nice quality but thin OEM wearing strap?
