I think I can help a bit. I'm fairly certain that I bought this watch from the person that dutchguy2 sold it to, in its eventual closed factory case version.

Here is what it looked like when I had it:

The 40th anniversary dial had been swapped to a old tritium gen dial, and I installed a gen insert with pearl.

The 40th anniversary dial and gen bracelet, ended up getting re-united with a genuine 2831.80 that I restored from the dead, and is one of my favorite watches I wear to this day.

How is that for 18 years of closure!

see above :)

LOVELY, loss of words, that I beauty! aha! I saw that 40th anniversary edit gen dial from the bay a couple of months back for a steal price, I think you won that?

wear it in good health man!, how is the caseback by the way? does it have serial numbers on the lugs?

@NaviChief that’s lovely. I have a closed factory case from the 40th anniversary Bond that has been built into a ProPlan - hybrid Seamaster Pro case with PO bezel and second hand. Fantastic quality cases that are so close to Gen. I also have franken 2531.80 that I want to mid further. The HEV position isn’t too bad but it still bugs me so I may have the HEV removed and the hole welded up and the re-drilled in the correct position.
What caseback do you have on your 40th?

2. “Addiction”? If it’s that serious you need a clean break brother. Best way is to be done with those foul watches! Done with them! Make your move! Quick while you’re motivated, jump up! Do it now! Grab them all, yes ALL, and throw them in a box! Do it! Be strong! Tape that box up! Lock the beasts inside!!! Take charge!

Now mail it to me.
Aha! if I was a YouTuber who only cared about content in doing gen vs rep videos, I would give it away for likes, subscriptions, and comments.

Cheers

3. How about this one? A closed factory case with a gen 2230 (non -AC dial) and a PO bezel and insert. Built by SSTEEL

Nice hybrid build by the way

Everything is gen except midcase and case back

No way to do this today, would probably cost more than the gen as Omega has restricted access to parts to those they deem worthy and second hand prices are way up

Damn this is a very hard question to answer as I am about to buy this super rep next week from mary@watchinternational..

I have looked over on ofrei's and damn $590 for the bracelet, $960 for the complete case (Bezel, insert, crowns, crystal, gasket, caeback all) so to sum up it will be around $1800, will definitely burn my wallet.. I will really want to have these mods myself too but to me maybe just these parts an I'll be happy;

1. Bezel insert

2. Dial

3. Hands

4. proper decorated 25 jewel ETA Valjoux 7750

Otherwise, I would buy the black one, but the itch is really for the blue bond

but the blue of the insert I simply could not stomach..

Good luck mate!

Please post more pics of your watch so we could see that beatiful timepiece!

done this project as well

Thanks Kernow

I'm intrigued to see what arrives as this is an old rep, one of the original Eddie Lee supplied ones. I'm hoping the case is as per Gen construction so it'll be a case of replacing gaskets if I'm lucky. If not then the Marine apoxy will be out in force!

I'll post a few pics for the process.

Cheers M

did you receive the case how does it look like?

"...on the same boat looking for Omega Parts on the bay..."

I know what you mean.  I have used up almost all of my omega 5xx and 7xx parts with no more in sight...at a reasonable price that is.  The quick set models where you push/pull the crown to advance the date have a problem with broken setting parts and spare parts have just about dried up.

Have one old ruffy dress type ygf front loader 'watermaster' and was going to change it over to a no date model because of missing parts but can not find an affordable case, been looking for a year or two.  Found a dial right away but no cases out there.

No Mo Oh-Meega Parts.

@automatico the nerve of these sellers to sell literally golden rust is baffling, also the almost unusable omega parts in the listings as of this date damn life is hard indeed

7. quickest way to spot the rep DSOTM is the color of the balance wheel, on the rep its gold, on the gen its black, but be careful, this may be a bait and switch tactic, surest way to determine an Omega is that the lug serials should match the Omega cards which came with it.
