B series was a transitional series for most PAMs. They were a mixture of tritium and Luminova dials...

I'd start with vac and then move to the "parts friendly" dealers like DSN or Angus...

PAMman, I agree with you 100% but I have often heard EVERY non-sandwich Historic dial referred to as "sausage". Painted dials usually refer to the Contemporary dials that are not engraved and lume-filled, but simply have the lume applied to the surface of the dial. No?

That's a gen 040 in my avatar.

DSN makes a 040 rep, but it uses his 061 C series caseback, which is, of course, wrong for the B series 040.

I would try a small amount of mineral spirits and a soft cloth to remove it. Careful not to remove anything you don't aim to, however.

Sausage dials are more accurate to their gen counterparts, FWIW.

I prefer sausage dials to sandwich, personally.

I really love my swiss 6497 but the engravings look kind of rough when compared to gen.

I agree with what was said above. Polishing the bridges would make them look slightly better, I'd assume, but polishing doesn't address all the issues (like the worse/different engraving).

They can both be correct for the gen models, depending on which production year/series you are talking about. Printed/sausage dials would be A series - G series. Sandwich dial would be H series - current.

Fonts look pretty similar to me. DSN's might be a shade less bold than the Cartel dial. DSN's subdial is correct, Cartel's is incorrect. DSN's crown is better. CGs are pretty much a wash, the Cartel lever pin is better, but the opening for the crown in the CG is too big. Mod DSN's CG lever pin and his CG is better. Pretty much the only thing better on the Cartel watch that isn't a 10 min fix is the datefont.

I'm certain DSN's lume is miles better, as well.

Buy whichever you want, but I see a clear winner here and it ain't the Cartel watch. Feel free to disagree, however.

A "Cartel" 232 with dial/hands swap with DSN parts is the best option out there for a 232. Several people here have done this. I think taiji is one?

IMO, the DSN 088 with a Lello datewheel would be the best thing out there.

Oh, and DSN's caseback is for an F series 088, so a V CG would be all wrong. Not sure what Josh's caseback is, because he has a pic of the Laureus caseback shown for the 088.

Looks like loose movement holders/ring to me.

You might be able to fix it yourself, depending on what the issue actually is. Be careful not to scratch the dial!

Anyone else notice that the finish on t's crowns is brighter and more gen like than the "Palp" crowns that PAM was providing?

If you really want it to be accurate, you really need to get a PVD case from Davidsen and give it a good polish with a cape cod cloth, or have some aftermarket PVD done to a SS case.

Thanks for all the hard work, FGD. The Pre-A 002 is an absolute GEM, in my opinion and is only a half-step away from the gen item, IMO. Easily one of the most accurate rep PAM dials we've ever seen of ANY model, ANY series, if not the most accurate.
