He has been MIA for me since the 21st of last month. Just wondering if any of you know if he is on holiday or something?

Pictorial of ROLEX "Noob GMT 16710", correct hand stack
RobbieG replied to By-Tor's topic in By-Tor's Watch Reviews
Well, if I were you I would just grab the stock GMT conversion like in my watch as you know and just swap everything over. The hand stack is so minor and of course everything else on yours is perfect. In any event so sorry to hear for the loss, but you knew it was coming. Man I almost crapped when I first saw that mod, and yes I hear the new one is worse too. No matter though, it is an easy conversion and fix for any when they finally do break. -
Must be synthetic sapphire, huh?

Yes, even I know that...er...I think...ebauches have nothing to do with the rest of ETA's business. Seriously though, I would love to see more Seagull presence going forward. Those movements are dirt cheap and largely reliable. Hey, as a side note I'm looking over my current gen sports watch collection and notcing how ETA ebauche populated it is and wondering if watches with ETA ebauches will become collectable in their own right someday seeing how they won't be built anymore? Wishful thinking I'm sure but I've grown sort of attached to wonderful chronometers born of 7750, 2892 & 2824 ebauches. Kind of sad to see them go. When Breitling for example finishes with a 2824 buildup it becomes a work of art suitable for a lifetime...

No doubt about that Freddy. I have always maintained that anyone calling out this watch has to know what to be looking for really well, otherwise it is virtually indistinguishable. In fact, I know of only one person outside these forums who has called one out and he was absolutely familiar with the reps existence and its major falws and was looking for them. As with all reps if you are a WIS and looking for flaws they can always be found. I have not owned the rep of this yet, but having owned the gen and from these and other pictures I can pretty much tell this watch is as good as it gets rep wise...
-
Yup, they went from slightly too thick to too thin. Not that it really matters as you are right, the watch obviously kicks no matter which insert...
-
No problem Freddy. Not laborious at all. I am refering to study of these two shots of the same watch, your and Jiro's which is new. To me his bezel fonts are very obviously thinner to the naked eye. Maybe even by 25% or so. It can be seen on all the numbers, but for instant comparison check out the "22" for starters. See it now? Yours: Jiro's

Great pic Freddy!

Not much new here. The old standby. And lets hope someone nails Kimi this weekend...

The purpose of this thread was not to bring up the old who can ID the rep stuff again as that is the last thing we need. I was just making an observation that two others in the thread seem to see as well which is that Jiro's rep appears to have an updated insert as his engraved fonts are noticeably thinner than on the other pics posted. It is obvious enough to make me wonder if it is a batch upgrade which just was released in the latest run. Hey Jiro, if you get a chance ask your dealer if you would and post his answer. I'm sure a lot of us would love to know. No offense Freddy, not that there is anything wrong with yours or anybody else watch, and you are right, tough to notice unless one knows what they are looking for. Minor indeed. Again, just trying to determine if an update has been done...
-
No to me yours look like the originals, but check out Jiro's, they look considerably thinner and more gen like. Anybody else got a line on this or ask their dealer about it? I'm not really in the market for the watch per se as I just had the gen for a short time and sold it, but the insert font thickness is one of the only two real tells to my eye, and Lani has the other one covered now with the AR mags. If these new thinner insert versions are available now this watch will IMO be maybe the most visually accurate rep around with Lani's cyclops mod. Cool...
-
Yeah, sore subject. I'll largely stay out of it this time as my ETA thread caused enough heat on its own, but suffice it to say this issue will I'm sure be ongoing and probably continue to be a moving target as well, meaning I'm betting the visual cues will widen and change on the fly. To that end it will be tough to pinpoint or blame any dealer or factory as it may get to a point where even experts won't be able to keep up with the differences...
-
Is it just my eyes or does both Jiro's and Slicemaster's bezel fonts look thinner? They also each claim to have just got the watch. Take a look, thinner no? A batch upgrade maybe? Or is that already known and I just missed it? They all look fantastic by the way!

Good question. Although for me the question was why not more Seagull movements in particular as opposed to Miyota or other brands? I remember a thread where a bunch of us were discussing UN Diver reps and of course being based on the 2892 we were trying to figure out why not do that watch for one with a ST26 which of course is Seagull 2892 clone. I had an Omega Aqua Terra rep with that movement and it looked pretty good with its disply caseback and when decorated this movement looks surprisingly close to the 2892. BTW, the handwind chronograph developed from the Venus 175, often inaccurately refered to as a "Lemania" movement, which Pug speaks of I believe is the Seagull ST19. Anyway, that movement has been in several reps and is extremely reliable in several reps I have had, one of which is a VC Malte rep that I still have. I also believe The Zigmeister has given his nod of approval for these in terms of overal quality and reliability. But I guess we all probably know that by now. Anyway, anyone else wonder why with what would seem to be an abundant and local supply why the rep facttories don't use more Seagull movements? They seem a nice alternative to ETA if availability is in fact challenged and they are most certainly cheaper.

James and his old partner Louie have been around a long time. I also have a friend who purchased a Sub from Louie maybe 4 years ago? The watch shipped was not as advertised, although I always say I'm going to try and get his cyclops and datewheel from him. LOL. What dumb luck. It was the best I have ever seen strangley enough. But anyway, back on track, if all James and Louie are claiming is that they don't rip people off I guess I do know someone who they did deliver a watch to. Although I think he paid $800. He also told me it was no where NEAR overnight to get it and it wasn't in the US James sowhy don't we just cut that crap RIGHT now. The watch was (surprise...) drop shipped from China. So then how do you justify the cost of your watches along with all the lying that BT, TT, etc... have pointed out? I mean let's face it brother there is only one reason why you are not a dealer here. Because you prefer to make the profits selling $1000 watches over the profits generated from selling $200 ones and the only way to accomplish that is to be full of sh*t. It make no difference to me the way a man makes a living James, but at least admit what you are and I for one will forgive you. Don't expect any orders anytime soon though. And especially stop saying you have watches here in the US. You are busted. You drop ship from China. Period...

Yes, please do PM me and let me know what I did wrong...

He was here or on some other board? Someone said in the link over there he took amazing photos?
-
Thanks man. I figured if he was a Guangzhou guy that he must have been around some before or something. Anyway, if anyone has a site link please PM it to me, mostly because I would like to check out his pics...
-
Dude, seriously, is there nothing posted from here on out that need not be challenged? If you don't have an answer to my question I don't see the value in having another useless interchange. So, does anyone know anything about Watchstation? They say he has a great website with fantastic photos. Just curious...
-
Um...seems like a pretty straightforward question to me. Just wondering if he came from somewhere or was connected to any particular people past or present. It is a postive question geared toward learning about dealers of replica watches, which I think is what we are all doing here the last I checked. What is wrong in your view about this post? Would you prefer I asked another way? I'm not a member on RWI so I thought I would ask if anyone heard of him here... Where is the value in challenging my simple post and question I think might be the better question to ask?
-
Um, yeah, that is the one I saw. I didn't know there was more than one.
-
Anyone know anything about the new dealer on RWI? Does anyone know if they have expressed an interest in coming here too or if they are intending to be exclusive there? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Ho bruddah. You like bus one short on da S&P...why?

Hey Dutchy, Long time. I hope all is well with you. I'm just seeing this and maybe I'm late but I may be willing to offer you something at my firm. Funny you should post this just now as we have had an interest of late in grooming some individuals interested in becoming a traders or client managers for some expansion we are undergoing. I co-own a small private equity hedge fund with around $30M USD under management at the moment. Basically the business is split in half with my partner who running the client side and myself running the trading side. I have developed several new asset classes in junction with our ongoing expansion which has been exciting and wildly successful especially in these wonderful volatile markets. My partner has in turn developed the client side accordingly and we are also opening a whole financial service company as a seperate business in the future. We see ourselves realistically ramping up to not less than $100M in equity or so in the next 12 months and it may even be as much as twice that. My move to full automation with many of my proprietary trading strategies is opening a lot of doors for us in terms of being capable for more capital. And so the clients follow. Build it and they will come as they say. Anyway, if this sounds like your brand of Cognac as they say, drop me a PM and let's chat about what you would like to accomplish with your internship. You always seemed a bright young man to me and it would be neat to have someone I met here fill some shoes. I don't know if that is something that interests you but if so drop me a PM and I'll give you some more details and where to send a letter of interest and your resume'. We are based in sunny South Florida.
