  1. Hi, of course you never want to do that. I recently talked to a jeweler where I had my genuine SMP professionally cleaned. She told me that they only clean steel bracelets with an ultrasonic cleaning machine. The case itself is cleaned by hand. And even if you have a waterproofed watch, the ultrasonic bath will simply wash away the grease of the gaskets. However, some of those cleaners come with a little watch holder which keeps the case out of the fluid. Moppel
  2. Hi there, each stroke means 5 sec slower or faster. So if your watch loses 30 sec / day you need to turn that littel screw 6 strokes. If your watch is brand new I would just let it run for a few weeks to see if it is still 30sec slow a day. All the watches I received from our dealers were about 20sec fast per day. And I was able to regulate them to about 2-3 sec a day. It is a little tricky & time comsuming but I am quite sure that the movement of your watch is not broken. Cheers Moppel
  3. Hi folks, I am currently looking for one of those ultrasonic cleaners. My question is what kind of additional cleaning fluid is recommendable? Or does simply water do the trick? Is ammonia safe to use? Thanks Moppel
  4. Hi there, I am located in Germany and have ordered once from Cousins. Unfortunately, the shipping cost is a bit high. But there seems to be no way to find date wheels or other watch stuff here in Germany. So I guess I have to order from them. Cheers Moppel
  5. Hi jdavis, thanks for your reply. I just got back from a two weeks vacation and saw your reply today. I already have some of the tools you mentioned. But I do have a questions though: what is "Hypo cement" and what is it used for? Anyway, your list seems to have some stuff that I haven't thought of. It is a good basic to do my next Ebay shopping. Cheers & thanks Moppel
  6. Hi Abakan, the only thing I would be concerned of would be some additional tax that you may have to pay. About a month ago I bought a genuine Omega SMP mid-size off Ebay USA. It was meant as a birthday present for my girlfriend. It was shipped to Germany and the German customs charged more than $250 sales tax on that watch which hit me totally unexpected. So be carefull if you buy something from outside your country at least you know about sales tax or import duty. Cheers Moppel
  7. Dear watch lovers, so far I have only done minor work on my reps, like gluing back a fallen off marker or regulating the movement for better accuracy. I feel it is time to go a bit deeper. Inspired by Pugwashs work on his IWC 3717 I would like to put on a date indicator with the correct date font both on my SMP Chrono and on my TAG Carerra. I know that I will have to use the following tools: - hand remover - movement holder - hand fitting tool I already have a case opener and some screwdrivers and other necessary stuff. But I would really appreciate some advise on the tools mentioned above. Can I use any hand remover/movement holder/hand fitting tool to work on the Asian 7750? Because if I succeed I would like to extend the work onto other reps which may have a different movement, and I don't want to buy the stuff again only in order to fit. Maybe you guys have some kind of "necessary tool list". Thanks & cheers Moppel
  8. Yep, same here. So I reported it to Ebay about 24 hours ago. No response so far, this watch is still available. So I contacted the seller telling him that this was a fake watch. His response was something like :" Nobody forces you to buy the watch. I am going to see a watchmaker to get a quotation for repairing the watch. And then we will see what a fake watch is." Strange world... Moppel
  9. Hi folks, this Planet Ocean seems to be a fake: - wrong subdial spacing - short crown - missing lume markers at 3 6 9 I could cry when I see people bidding on that. Cheers Moppel
  10. Hi, PM sent about the rubber strap. Moppel
  11. Hi, they seem to have a great customer service as I also got this cataloge today. And even though I only bought once from them a few month ago. Cheers Moppel
  12. Thanks, buddy. That's all I needed to know. Cheers Moppel
  13. Hi bigpops, may I ask you to look for some parts for a gen OMEGA SMP mid-size? I need some links for the bracelet and I am not sure whether I found the correct ones on Ofrei. Maybe I can send you a PM for further details. I would appreciate your help. Regards Moppel
  14. Hi folks, and thanks for all you comments. According to his feedbacks those watches sell around $900-$1000 which is very reasonable. I am only concerned that I have to pay a lot of tax once the German customs finds out that this is a pricey watch. I told the seller my concerns and he replied that the German custom is very strict and that quite a few watches that he sold to Germany have been charged with tax which would easily add $200. So I am not willing to take that risk. Too bad
  15. Hi folks, I am looking for a gen Omega SMP mid-size for my girlfriend as a birthday present. This Ebay seller has sold quite a few Omegas in the past and offers the one I am looking for. All of his items seem to be genuine ( as far as I can tell ). But I really would appreciate some opinions from you guys. Thanks a lot. Moppel
  16. Hi folks, this is just too sad. For this money ( 101 Euros at the moment ) the bidder could easily get the Ultimate light.... Cheers Moppel
  17. Hi folks, since I like to swap bracelets/straps on my watches from time to time, I sometimes find it rather difficult using a simple spring bar tool. Especially on my SMP Chrono. So I was looking for some kind of double-sided tool, but these are just too expensive. That's why I came up with a simple idea: why not taking a pair of tweezers and modify them? So I used a grinder and a triangular file to give it the right shape. This is the final shape Doesn't quite look like a professional tool, though. But it works and the price was reasonable. Well, at least until my girlfriend starts to miss the pair of tweezers Thanks for reading. Cheers Moppel
  18. Hi there, I was just wondering if anybody is going to the "Uhren- und Schmuckb
  19. Puretimes 22mm orange leather strap for the OMEGA PO I ordered the leather strap since I sometimes like to swap straps/bracelets based on the occasion I am going to wear the watch. I already own a HIRSCH carbon strap with a single deployant clasp but was looking for an orange leather strap. Communication with PureTime was quick and very helpful. He even shipped the strap before he received the payment by PayPal. Shipping to Europe took only 5 days by EMS. These are some pictures of the strap before attaching it to the watch The look and feel both of the leather and deployant clasp is very good. The clasp locks very tight. The deployant clasp works a little bit different from I am used to. That means that you have leather on your wrist instead of the steal clasp. Which causes the strap to have some kind of hump underneath the wrist. Here is a picture showing the HIRSCH strap below and the leather strap above. The color of the leather strap is also a bit different from the HIRSCH strap. All in all I am very pleased with the leather strap. It feels great and I think that the deployant clasp with the OMEGA logo and engravement adds some authenticity to the watch. Thanks for looking. And thanks to PureTime. It was a pleasure to do business with him. Cheers Moppel
  20. Hi there, 25 degrees Celsius here in my part of Germany. So I am going to wear some "sunny" colored watch. Cheers Moppel
  21. Hi there, I am going to wear my gen SMP Quartz today. Cheers Moppel
  22. Hi By-Tor, what have you been doing lately that it took you so long to put the bracelet on And yes, Andrew sells those bracelets separately. No offense, but I'd prefer the original bracelet. I think the SMP bracelet distracts the attention too much off the beautiful dial and bezel. Cheers Moppel
  23. Hi, if the watch is new then just let it run for a couple of week before trying to adjust the movement. As to the picture it seems that you can turn the screw even a little bit more to adjust it. Cheers Moppel
  24. Too bad, the fun is over After he sent the picture of the dial I told him that this was a fake watch and that I wouldn't buy it. I must admit that I really enjoyed the whole thing. This guy was full of surprises. First he refuses to let me pick the watch up by myself. He said he would work all day and would only be at home at night. And since he lives in an apartment-sharing community it would be impossible to have visitors at night. As I asked for a picture of the dial he asked me how I could be so picky at this low price. And as I finally told him the watch was faked he said that he never said it was genuine. He also kindly advised me not to bid just out of fun.... My conclusion: If you see a "good" deal on the Bay, it can be fun not just for only one day!! Cheers Moppel
