  1. Just got mine!!! Doorbell rang while reading this post and there it was. Ordered from Andrew Thursday, got here (US) today... WOW fast delivery! Screws not a big deal, but the bezel seems a bit looser than my SFSO. Again, not a big deal, I can always tighten it up if it becomes a problem. Beautiful watch, got the black dial on SS bracelet. May become my new favorite!
  2. Hmmm... no replies, either nobody cares, nobody knows or nobody has made the same mistake I have ;) Anyway, I have actually found them and they are not exactly on Ofrei (so to speak). They can be found here: www.tztoolshop.com/page30.html about halfway down the page.
  3. I know we have all done this... doing a little modding, putting everything back together and "boinggggg" the case clamp goes across the room. Anyway, has anybody found a source for these or does anybody have a spare as I am now 1 clamp short? This would be for a swiss UPO from Andrew. thanks, vejaman
  4. Yep, figured as much. OK, so the tip of my gen seconds hand is almost a dayglow orange color (not red like Ofrei says). Does anybody know if the gen "007" logo and tip on the seconds hand are the same flourescent orange? It should be easy enough to paint it the right color with a little care. Thanks again
  5. OK, so I have done the gen hands and dial mod for one of my UPO's and I am looking to now do the same on my Casino Royale version. Problem is that I cannot find the seconds hand with the "007" on it anywhere on either Ofrei or Cousins. Anybody have a solution? I am hoping to not have to paint the rep seconds hand to get the color correct... Thanks in advance
  6. OK, so it looks like I actually needed the 1504/826 bracelet instead. Since it does not look like I will be getting any gen end links any time soon, I am off to list the 1503/825 in the Trading Zone. If anybody is in need of one, head on over there.
  7. I really did research all this out first but I don't seem to be finding the answers I am looking for, so here goes: I have a beautiful SMP Chrono that I bought off a member here a few months ago. I love the watch and am looking to do a couple of mods including installing a gen bracelet. I just picked up a 1503/825 off ebay and the end links aren't thick enough. After a little research on the boards I found that the bracelet is used for both the SMP and the SMP Chrono but the Chrono end links are thicker. I decided to try and swap in my rep end links but they don't fit on the bracelet and leave a gap between the links of a little over a mm so you can see the pin through the gap. Is it possible to buy separate end links or am I totally missing something here. Can anybody offer any advice based on your experience? Thanks
  8. Very nice :) I am looking at replacing my bezel with a gen from Ofrei. I have read in several places that this bezel is very difficult to remove, but I have not found any suggestions for it. Any tips for removing the bezel on this model?
  9. Does the gen dial fit the case without modification? I thought I saw somewhere that it had to be shaved down a little bit. Thanks, I am looking at the gen dial mod right now as well.
  10. I have replied to several posts on this topic. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a gen bezel on the 'bay and had The Zigmeister transfer the insert. To me, the mod looks near perfect. The only thing is that the insert will sit up a little higher than your crystal, and I am talking a fraction of a mm here. I am working on setting my crystal up just a touch higher and securing it with GS Hypo Cement. That should take care of it. After paying attention to a lot of gen Omegas, my opinion is that the incorrect pearl is the biggest tell and the gen bezel/insert mod is worth it.
  11. I agree with the above comments... I would do (and have done) in order: 1. Double AR (I used chieftang for this) 2. gen bezel and have the insert swapped (I used The Zigmeister for this) 3. get the Silix dial and transplant the logo to your UPO dial (in process right now) The most expensive of these is buying the gen bezel but IMHO I think the pearl placement is the biggest tell anyway so the gen bezel is worth it. With the double AR mod and the logo off a Silix dial anybody would be hard pressed to tell the difference between your modded UPO and a gen
  12. I am in Vegas on business at least every other week, sometimes more. I just stopped in at a Jared store yesterday and they had some Speedmasters in stock. The only one I know of is on the Northwest side of town but since you are doing a round trip by car you might not mind driving. They give the standard discount on Omegas as well. I have spent some time in Tower of Jewels as well and they do have some nice stuff and if you get lucky they may have what you want.
  13. If you look at some of the first Planet Ocean reviews even the gen pics don't have the globe on the case back. All the new pics however have the globe, so it is definitely a new addition.
  14. Pearl set too low in the triangle, wrong logo, wrong waterhorse and background on case back... Who does this guy think he is fooling?
  15. I got confirmation from Jay just last week that the "correct logo" dial is still available and to spread the word...
  16. Check out what I just found on the Omega website! Great, if they rep this one I am going to have another version of the Planet Ocean I have to buy... hxxp://www.omegawatches.com/index.php?id=931&details=1&ref=22263462001001&no_cache=1
  17. I am personally on my 3rd UPO because I just can't get enough of this awesome watch. I have also spent way too much time in ADs in multiple cities and think I know the watch quite well by now. What is surprising me here is that nobody has said anything about the pearl in lello's watch. The pearl is the exact same one that is on the Silix version and not only is it awful but it is a dead giveaway! As for the logo, have 3 silix dials and am working on the logo mod as we speak. Here is what I have seen, Andrew and Precious Time and Angus all have the same watch with wrong logo but decent pearl after a little work on the glass. Andrew and Precious have the casebacks that are not like the first release of the 5th gen UPO but Angus' case back is actually very nice (nice background texture and smooth edges that don't cut into the wrist). Jay and Angela can still sell the dials with the correct logo for $25 plus shipping and Jay wanted me to spread the word that they are still available. I am far from an expert, but I am obsessed with this watch and would definitely stick with the aforementioned vendors and stay away from the awful pearl that looks like it is slapped on the insert.
  18. I was looking at this place before I decided to get in on the January Chief run. They are fairly close to my house so I paid the place a visit to look at their coating results. The green is quite hideous and when they told me that is the only one they do I left without any further question. On a somewhat related note, all my Nikon lenses for my DSLR have a purpleish coating but my new Tokina has the green. I have yet to see if there is any difference in cleaning, attracting dust... I think it is well worth it to stick with Chief.
  19. Most frustrating thing for me with this movement has been getting the seconds hand back on. I ended up putting the hand on a piece of transparent tape so I could ease it onto the pin and still see what I was doing and then set it into place. The trick seemed to work well for me, but do you have any other trick for the seconds hand?
  20. I am waiting on my dial from Silix as well. I don't remember where the post is, but I do remember that the pins are spaced the same on both logos so all you have to do is push the logo off the Silix dial from the back with a sharp needle. Remove your "incorrect" logo the same way. Then just carefully press the Silix logo on your original dial and apply a small dab of glue to the pins from the back side to secure it. Good luck and post pics of how yours works out, I can't wait to get my dial in so I can do mine too!
  21. I was in the same situation a couple of months ago. Found a couple of our dealers that either have some or can get them once in awhile. It turns out that all the ladies Breits are junk. Just looks at the pics and compare, they are not even close. My wife actually likes wearing my Pam 183 now, I have to ask when I want to wear it!
  22. The PO is also not going to be as smooth as some other watches because it uses a 25K BPH rate while the SMP for example uses a 28K BPH rate. I held a PO and an SMP next to eachother at an AD and the PO was definitely not as smooth due to the lower beat rate.
  23. I guess this is the first time I consider myself lucky to have a crap Canal Street Yachtmaster. I have completely torn the thing down for the fun of it and I plan on using the dial as my practice dial. After luming it the first time, I'll give the dial a dip in paint remover, clean it off and have a go at it again. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
