  1. Wow! I guess I dodged a bullet on that one! Mine is on the way although it still has not arrived in the US yet... a little concerned but Mary did send pics of the exact watch I will be getting so I need to be patient for now. Spent some time at the AD (AGAIN!!) last week and I can't get over just how good the replication of this watch, both chrono and non-chrono really is. Definitely super-rep quality.
  2. I checked with my Breit AD and I can get the gen mesh for about US$550... yikes! May need to spring for it though. I agree, this thing is definitely a super rep! Even the lume dots fill the circles completely although the lume itself is crap. I still have my bronze chrono which is near perfect as well after spending nearly an hour in the AD memorizing every detail about the gen. One thing I do have to say is about the bronze non-chrono and the discussion about the dial color. I held the gen non-chrono next to the gen chrono and on the gen the non-chrono dial is definitely darker in color than on the chrono. In fact the rep modded V1 bronze non-chrono that I had for sale was spot on as far as dial color goes. So, I would say, if you have been wanting the bronze non-chrono but have concerns about dial color, don't worry, if you can get it... go for it!
  3. I originally asked Mary about this, thanks Member X, and she confirmed that there was not availability. Then last week she goes out of her way to tell me that the factory had the black available again. I asked her to verify that it was V2, it was, then placed an order on her assurance and this morning she emails me pics of the actual watch I will be getting!!! And it is definitely a beautiful black V2!! Ummmmm, where has Mary been since I got into this hobby? Nobody has ever emailed me pics of the actual watch I will be getting! Thanks again MemberX for directing me to her, now I just gotta figure out if I am going to break down and get the gen mesh or the Staib mesh...
  4. I guess you have to ask yourself if you plan on doing any gen mods down the road. I once purchased a silix case back because it looks better than the UPO back. The silix back will not fit the UPO case, that taken with the fact that you have to mod a UPO or gen bracelet to fit leads one to wonder if the silix case will accept any gen parts. I get pretty anal when it comes to the pearls and that pearl is garbage, who knows what insert would fit, I have modded 2 gen inserts -one orange, one black- for my UPO's and gotten them to fit no problems. If you want to do a gen dial mod which I have also done on two UPOs, are they going to fit? I have just about as many gen parts in my UPOs as you can get and I would not even consider the silix version for my work.
  5. OK, I got an email from Mary today saying that the factory told her that black is available in V2 non-chrono today and she can get blue tomorrow. I am waiting for confirmation of pics of what I would be getting. I really have no idea what is going on here.
  6. Just now coming across this and yes, it has been discussed elsewhere. I have done it on my black bezel Casino Royale and on my pumpkin UPO. The gen bezel will not fit on the rep case no matter what you do. You have to do a bezel insert transfer. The bezel insert comes off the UPO quite easily, just remove the movement, pop the crystal and pry the insert off the bezel by inserting your thumbnail under it working your way around the bezel until it comes off completely, then clean off the remaining adhesive from the bezel. Now you need to work on pressing the gen insert out of the gen bezel, take your time pressing it out from the backside of the bezel, working your way around the bezel so you don't bend the insert. Once the insert pops out you will notice that it has a ridge of aluminum on the backside of it, this needs to be ground off. I use a dremel tool with a ball shaped grinder. I grind down the metal ridge and leave the backside of the bezel insert a little concave. Now you can glue it right onto the UPO bezel, I use GS Hypo Cement. As for getting it aligned correctly just make sure you have the line at "3" lined up with the crown tube and everything else will be perfect. Good Luck!
  7. Funny thing about it is that I can't even get the V2 dials. I also did get confirmation back from Mary at watch-international that she can't get at least the black or the blue anymore... this is not looking good.
  8. OK guys, I want to get to the bottom of this. I have heard now from 3 dealers (Andrew, Angus and King) and possibly now a 4th that the SOH non-chrono is not available anymore because it just wasn't selling. This started when I bought a V2 bronze from Andrew and a V1 showed up. After contacting Andrew about it he told me that it wasn't available anymore and that one of his "employees" just pulled a V1 and shipped it instead of letting me know of the problem. In trying to come to a resolution I asked if I could get a different color. He went back to the factory and was told that the V2 non-chrono is not being made in any color anymore due to poor sales of the product. The chrono version is still readily available. So, I installed a V2 datewheel, tried to get a V2 dial to install but couldn't, and have it for sale on the forum now. There seem to be some questions about this so I want to make sure that I am representing all the facts accurately and not trying to deceive anybody. So, has anyone found a confirmed source for the SOH V2 non-chrono, not just a dealer saying they can get it but actually ordering it and getting the right product? I really want to pick up a black V2 and stick it on mesh so if there is somebody out there that can get it please let me know.
  9. Thanks everybody for the great replies! I did pick up a T60 before I posted this question so I think I will be safe installing it and then hanging tight with the rest of you for a T48.
  10. OK, I have tried searching for the answer, though maybe not hard enough. What is the difference between a T48 and a T60 crown? I have an "ultimate" 088 and have seen that it can take a T48 crown but I have also seen the T60s for sale. Thanks for your help, I am re-entering the pam world after selling off a beautiful 111H and regretting it!

    Franken UPO

I have gen springbars with the gen rubber and don't notice any spring bar bend/strap standoff at all.
  12. Does UPS say it was delivered specifically at your address? I had sent a package to somebody once and UPS said the address on the package was not a valid address and they ended up delivering it to another building 5 miles away. At least they had record of what address it was delivered to and we were able to track it down and get it to the right place.
  13. It is my understanding, and I don't remember where I read it, that the nickel plating is considered a water resistant movement. I think I might have seen that in one of my movement catalogs. As for the gold color, isn't that just brass as that is what these movements are made of?
  14. It fits perfectly, I have one on mine. That being said, I would only take it if you are getting a really good price on it. Comparing my gen bracelet and my rep side by side it is virtually impossible to tell the difference. The only real way to tell is by the divers extension and I have even modded that on my rep to match the gen. Good luck!
  15. I have to agree here, ebay, and have lots and lots of patience. I personally have found success with gen parts on the Omega reps. I have 2 Planet Oceans (one orange and one black) and a SMP Chrono that are loaded to the hilt with gen hands, dials bezels and bracelets/straps and everything but the hands came from ebay, I get my hands from Ofrei. Total time to get all the parts for all three watches is probably 18 months but well worth it. Good luck and have fun!
  16. Hey Kevin, I just picked up this one from triplehd http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/105131-fs-swiss-gmt-iic-chs/ I am so used to my bigger Omegas, my Panny 111 and now my IWC BP 5002, this watch is just too small for my taste. I was going to be listing it on the forums but if you want it you can have it for what I paid, $305.
  17. You are correct, that is the point I made in item #1. However, it should be possible, as stated in #3, to use either a glass or ceramic material with the correct area cut out for the cyclops. I don't know if everyone recalls the way AR used to be done where the crystal was held in place by two small clips? The area where the clips touched the crystal did not have any AR. We could achieve the same thing for the GMTIIc by using a material that would not melt at 500 degrees. It could even be metal, as long as it is in contact with the crystal it would keep the crystal from getting AR except for where the cut out is.
  18. seems the talk of getting the AR on the back of the crystal has vanished and was just wondering if anybody is working with Chief on a project for this or not. I haven't had rollies since I sold of my pepsi GMTII and my EL Explorer 2 but I will be receiving a CHS GMTIIc today and wanted to work out this mod. I have worked with Chief many Omegas and here are a couple of my thoughts: 1. the problem with taping off the crystal except for the cyclops area is that the vacuum chamber reaches temps in excess of 500 degrees F, that is why the cyclops must be removed first as the glue would melt and it would just fall of in the coating chamber. Tape would just burn up. 2. Chief used to have a single sided application that was not nearly as durable as the double sided AR. Nice thing about that is if the inside of the crystal were coated it would be super easy to polish off everything but the area under the cyclops 3. the alternative would be to create a mask with something like a thin ceramic or even glass disk. The area for the cyclops could be cut with a fine diamond bit and a dremel. Use a solid disk for the front side of the crystal and sandwich the crystal between the two disks. Since this would be a durable material it could be reused for subsequent AR runs. 4. lastly, do we know if it is only the area under the cyclops that is coated or does the cyclops itself still get a coating as well? so... any thoughts? I get kind of obsessive about accuracy and have loaded my 3 Omegas with gen parts so I would love to have this degree of accuracy with my new GMTIIc as well. On a final note, anybody know what the crystal reference is for a 116710? I couldn't find it in the crystal ref in this forum.
  19. retaining ring stays in the case and you press the crystal into it.
  20. I posted this over on the Omega forum, but check out the rubber bezel remover at Ofrei bezel remover I has worked wonders on my stubborn SMP Chrono, I would have to imagine it would work for your Sub as well.
  21. I wanted to share some info on one of the greatest tools since I got into this hobby. Magoo (at RG) recently told me that he had seen an inexpensive bezel remover on Ofrei, it is this one: hxxp://www.ofrei.com/page663.html#18792 scroll to the bottom of the page to see it. Anyway, 25 bucks and I figured 'why not?' Well the thing just arrived at my door so I tackled my stubborn SMP Chrono and actually had it off in about 5 seconds! No scratches, no dings, no bent bezel... just squeeze the remover, give it a little twist/pull and POP! Nice clean bezel removal. My thanks going out to Magoo!
  22. That's impossible. Haven't you heard of global warming? There's no snow anymore... anywhere... it's all melted! Are you sure it's not just falling ash from our earth that's on fire? :D
  23. So, just a little history first. A good friend of mine made several comments on my watches on numerous occasions and I finally confessed to him that they were reps. He immediately became interested and jumped right into the hobby and started reading these forums, if you are reading this... Hi Brian! Anyway, he really liked my V2 Skyland and when I mentioned to him I was going to sell it he promptly bought it from me to make it his first rep. Before handing it over to him I pulled any loose bezel screws and reset them with Loctite. He recently came to me and said a screw fell out and wanted to know where he could get one. I have had the same lack of success as everybody else... until now. Brian came up with the idea of trying eyeglass screws. While at the drugstore I picked up one of those $2 eyeglass repair kits and took it over to his house. We found a couple of screws in the kit that look like they will fit perfectly! The slot is a little thicker but the head is the perfect size. He will be cutting the post down to about 1mm and setting it in the bezel. Once it is done we will submit pics, but I think this may be a quick and cheap solution to those of you who have lost bezel screws. Good luck to all and I had better not see anybody selling "custom made bezel screws" for $20 each now ;)
  24. I have now watched them and they are definitely not HD. Watched on a 42" TV in my bedroom and resolution is good enough to see what is going on, but no HD material here. I am very impressed with the videos and will be keeping them in my library just for fun. Plus my kids get to see that daddy is not the only one who looks like he has collapsed at the table with a loupe stuck to his eye!
  25. OK, cracked the case, removed the dial and found that the datewheel mod was left a little messy and the datewheel was just hanging up on the backside of the dial. Now I'm off to remove the datewheel, clean it up a little with the dremel and we will be back in business! You know you have a sickness in this hobby when you find something like this and think, "cool! I can fix that!"
