  1. I have to politely disagree. I've been to several ADs and the AR is pretty much the same as the rep.
  2. Hey Pug, what tool(s) did you use? I've tried everything it seems, and it is still a veritable pain in the azz.
  3. The bracelet is great. Once you wear it for a few days, you'll miss it if you slap on another watch in the morning. The only drawback, and it is a major drawback, is that it is virtually impossible to remove the bracelet. The endlinks are really really hard to free. I have used many different tools, and I have yet to come up with a definitive way to remove the spring bars. Any suggestions are highly sought in respects to this matter
  4. I had some luck earlier when I first got the watch using a simple Bergeon spring bar removal tool. But later on, it became quite evident that it was tough as hell to get 'em to spring free. So I tried the speed pin spring bars in 22mm length. I shaved off 1mm in size and they fit just fine. Great idea - in theory. One side came off after a few minutes, the other side was impossible. So impossible that I had to destroy the last link connected to the endlink. Luckily, I have 2 more spare endlinks. What a pain in the asss. I have yet to figure out what tool is the best tool for the job. I've seemingly tried everything (spring bar tool, tack pins, tweezers, screwdrivers, toothpicks, ... ). If anybody has a surefire method, please let us 3717 owners know! The bracelet in that TZ thread is the 19mm version for Mark XV or UTC. And the engine turned finish is correct for that model. The 3717 bracelet is 21mm in width and, IIRC, it does not have the engine turned finish. Again, I could be wrong about this.
  5. I got my 3717 from EL when he was the only one to have it. The bracelet is excellent, just like OEM, aside from the swirls on the inside of the clasp IIRC. The bracelet is amazing. My only working complaint is that it is a sincere biiiitch to remove the endlinks.
  6. Well, here it is... I finally got time to take these pics for you. Genuine IWC Rubber Strap for Aquatimer fitted to my rep Aquatimer 3536-02. The strap dimensions are 16mm width for the inner lugs and 26mm for the outer edge of the rubber strap. As you can see... It does not fit the rep at all! So, the rep is too small. What a damn shame. ***Please note that this is a project still in the making. ***This OEM strap might be for the newer 42mm models as opposed to the 39.5mm older models. ***I'm off to the AD tomorrow Here are some pics that I posted before comparing the genuine Aquatimer to a genuine Rolex Sea Dweller. Here is a pic of the replica Aquatimer compared to my genuine 5513 (same diameter as the Sea Dweller).
  7. George, hairsplitting is encouraged, I split hairs a lot! I am confused if my movement is an ETA or Asia. The Datewheel is pissing me off and I want to fix it. Please have a look at my thread about this movement. I would appreciate it. http://www.rwg.cc/members/What-is-this-movement-t33590.html Cheers
  8. The Zigmeister, I agree. I've always thought it somewhat strange that Rolex has never done a display back. I love the looks of 1030, 1520, 1560 and 1570. I need not mention that they are also supremely made.
  9. :cloud9: Ubi, please email me if you need anything.
  10. Maybe it is ETA, I don't really know. I can't find a model number stamped on it. If it is indeed an ETA, what movement is it? I think I would like to replace the movement, or at least the datewheel. I'd like to see if I can get the date to be a little more off to one side than it is now.
  11. What is this movement? I have decided that I am not happy about the date wheel placement on this mystery watch. It seems to be too far inwards relative to the date window of the dial. I had assumed that the movement was an ETA 2836, but it appears that it is not. This is perhaps why the date wheel is slightly off. I think that the dial is made for ETA 2836, but housed in this mystery watch is something else. Can you identify what this is? It seems to have a fake ETA stamp as well. Maybe I can swap in an ETA 2836? Would the hands fit onto an ETA? Or is this an ETA? Possibly an Asia movement? The CN stamp does not mean Conf
  12. Despite all the annoying ranting & raving, I want one.
  13. Nice model, a usable version of 5513 (I'd never dive with my '69 Sub). How about a pic of the rep? Cheers
  14. The solid gold yacht captain did have some pretty good reps back in the day...
  15. It's just the angle; although, I would like to have a bolder date font. I've been thinking about purchasing an ETA datewheel. In fact, I think I will soon. Best regards
  16. You will very much enjoy the quality of the 3717. It is a beautiful watch and without a doubt, it is a keeper. Enjoy & best regards, Euno
  17. I find that your watch is a classic beauty. Enjoy! PS. I should pick one up.
  18. Hello. How is your day going? Or perhaps should I ask, how is your evening going? Either way, thank you for taking the time to click on my thread. Hopefully this will be fun for you to read... Enjoy This particular thread is dedicated to the art of modding a somewhat overlooked rep. Well actually, this is an in-depth pictoral study/reference guide to the replica Mark XV. It took me quite a long time to finish this project. I searched high and low for these parts, and I would like to take the time to 'share' them with you. You might be saying to yourself: didn't Euno already post a thread about this damn watch project already? Well, to answer your question: yes, I did. But the project was not complete. And the pictures were not up to my usual standards. So... A new thread in honor of an old project, now finally finished. Well, almost finished. The last step is to fit a serviced & calibrated 2892-A2. These detailed pics show freshly installed genuine IWC Mark XV hands. Monsieur The Zigmeister did the honors of removing the Tritium and reluming them with Super Luminova (mer
  19. Both. It is up to you. Some folks swear by the deployment. Others swear at them (skin pinchers).
  20. Feast your eyes No AR yet, but hopefully on the next run! It took me a very long time to even consider the Ingenieur. I even looked at 'em at an AD several times and I did not like them. But one day I decided that I had to have one. I have found myself wearing it 5 outta 7 days a week.
  21. I don't know of a replacement crystal, but if you have a watch supply warehouse locally, you can go there and measure the 3717 crystal. I will tell you this though: the 3717 does not need AR. It seems to have a slight amount. The rep appears the same as OEM. Once you get your 3717, you will see what I mean. Cheers
