  1. SMP today for the beach and Railmaster XXl for the rest of the weekend Toni
  2. Cool looking watch, but a little small for my 8' wrist. I really like the color balance very elegant. Toni
  3. I know I'm a noob, but I voted for all the watches either up or down. Yes, I was not happy when some of the watches were removed (especially the Seahawk) but my though all along was: "If this goes well, we will do this again and them maybe it will be a watch that really tickles my fancy." So, I'm still planning on buying which ever watch will get made, just in the hopes that down the line we will repeat the effort. And I get a 1:1 copy of another great watch. Sorry for all the crying people do, but all your work is much appreciated Richard T. Toni
  4. Are there any good places to find reps in Banglamung Chonburi, some of my friends are in that area right now and I'm thinking of having them shop for some late xmas presents Toni
  5. Wow, you guys do lots of interesting stuff. I love sports, doing them my self. Mainly Basketball, being 6'9" I have a slight advantage over others. My wife and I lift a lot, and we just spent a nice chunk to build up our home gym. I'm thinking about doing skeet shooting again. Used to it a lot when I was younger; now I just need to make up my mind which gun to get. Also, we have two cats needing constant entertainment. Toni
  6. Just received the bezel yesterday, very slow shipping and I must have gotten a bad one also. The bezel is gray purple. I have e-mailed them to find out if they have any in a more blueish shade. Toni
  7. I like it, but does this one come in none chrono? Ciao, Toni
  8. Well, if a Noob can put his two cents in here are my picks. 1. Sea Hawk 2. Seamaster 300 or any other vintage Omega Toni
  9. I think she will have to read through all your guys replys. My pick would be the Conny that Slartibartfast reviewed, but that might not be glitzy enough for her. sashwatch, how much is the platinum datejust? That might be more her style. Toni
  10. I have bought three reps in the last few weeks and my wife really likes the watches I got. NOW she wants one. Christmas is coming so guess what I’m thinking will be one of her presents. Since I have no idea about women’s watches I thought I get some advice from the pros here. Also, I’m currently in an Omega phase and knowing my wife she is more into Rolex. So please help me pick a nice one. She likes the DATE-JUST with the diamond bezel, while I have tried to lead her more towards the YACHT-MASTER or even the LADY ROADSTER. Any advice is appreciated. Toni
  11. Well I bought the bezel retep linked me to, let's see if this one will work. Thanks for thje help.
  12. Usil: Can you give me a little more info on what kind of plastic you used and how you shaped and collerd it to fit the watch? Thank you
  13. The Perl on my SMP is way off. Not only is the Perl all the way in the bezel, it is also slanted to the left. So I plan on working on it during Thanksgiving to make it look more authentic. So before I destroy my nice watch I would like some input from the more seasoned members of this board. First I’ll pull of the bezel, following the instructions from By-Tor for modding the SMP. I’m not sure how hard it will be to loosen the Perl from the bezel, but first I’ll try a hair dryer to heat up the glue holding the Perl (assuming that the Perl is glued in place). If this doesn’t work I’ll use a heat gun and for sure loosen things up. Once I have the Perl out I’ll try to raise the opening for the Perl a little with a thin layer of epoxy, just enough to have the edges of the Perl over the bezel. Then I’ll reattach the Perl again with rubber cement. Last I plan on scrapping some of the lume out since it is right to the edge with a scalpel. How does my plan sound? Is there an easier way I missed (like buying a Perl with out getting a new bezel)? I attached a picture of the looks of the Perl right now. Thanks for any input you all can give me. Toni
  14. Looking at the number I did on the movment, I think it is save to say that theire is no hope for any futher projects with this watch . Now I might use the dail for some luming pratice down the line, but that will have to wait since my parents are comming into town . Toni
  15. The band on my SMP is not from the closed factory, so it actually has screws and not pins. I need at least three of these screws to get all the links back in the band. Thanks for all the help. Toni
  16. I bought this 21 jewel Miyota movement Invicta a few years back. The watch has not been keeping good time for over two years, so I decided to sacrifice it for training purposes. Down the line I would like to mod my roli sub rep and my SMP, but I would hate to open one of my new reps and then I can’t put it back together. So what did I learn, my fingers are way to fat to do most of the things on a watch (I guess that I’m 6’9” with hands as big as plates doesn’t help). I also learned that the Japanes Miyota movements seem to be a little different then the ETA movements. For example I never found the stem release and ended up forcing the stem out. The importance of the right tools also did not escape me. I currently have few watch maker tools, but I’ll have to get a bezel lifter, a watch hand lifter and a watch back opener. One of the hardest things was to get the bezel off. In ByTor’s guide how to change the bezel of the Omega he was just able to pull it of with his thumbs, I tried and no go. In the end I jammed the can opener part on my Swiss Army knife to force the bezel off. Now I hope this will only be the case on this old Invicta, because I bent the bezel and it would look somewhat odd. So the main thing for me from now on, as little modding as possible, and try to stay with some as close as possible reps. Toni
  17. I need help finding the link screws for my Omega Seamaster Professional. The rep was bought from a private party, and he adjusted the band. Now on my big wrist I need to put back all the links, but don’t have the screws to connect the links. I have already stopped by several watch shops in my area and no luck. All they tell me is that: “for this particular kind of screw I have to contact the manufacturer, since this Swiss watch band link screw seems to be bigger then the once they have." The band is 20mm. If someone could point me in the right direction would be much appreciated. Toni You can see the watch here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?act=At...ost&id=6148
  18. Bought them from a private party. Not sure which dealer they came from. Toni
  19. Got my first two reps and my wife likes them a lot, so now she asked me to find her a Rolex. The big problems I see are her allergies to nickel and chrome. I have not seen too much information on reps for women and am sure they all have nickel and chrome in them. Does anyone know if there are any reps for women in titanium? It doesn’t have to be a Rolex. Toni
  20. Here we go, got my first two Replicas. I decided to go with one of the all time classics the Rolli Sub. Eta movement, sapphire crystal, cyclone in the right position (might be a little too large on the magnification though), Crown looks good. Not sure about the band, I’m still not sure what makes a band look and feel more genuine. Read a lot of things about hollow end links and tubes in the links. If someone can help me out what I’m looking for in the band would be much appreciated. The second one is the Omega Seamaster Professional. I love this watch; the 42mm face looks great. Again, the rep has an Eta movment and a sapphire crystal. The He valve is off and in the ten o’clock position, but the bezel is aligned in the right way. The band has the screws in the end links, not sure if that is correct, I think I read the original has pins not screws. Toni
  21. Ciao bello, mio itallien è difettoso ormai. Quando ho vissuto in Reggio di Calabria e dopo in Milano loro era buono grazioso. Man do I need to brush up on my Italian. I loved living in Italy, great country great people and some of the best food in the world. By incident also the country where I bought my first nicer watch, a Breil, not sure it they even still make these. Anyways, I’m still not super much into the PAM(s), but they do look better to me than before. By the way, my avatar is supposed to be a Chinchilla. I had one growing up, he was one of the coolest pets ever. Now I have a wife and two cats. Arrivederci, Toni
  22. I think when I come back I'll get the TAG in gray and then my next one will be a cheapo SMP (on which I'll try my modding-FrankenStein skills). If anyone has a good dealer for this the SMP modd watch let me know. I think you guys are right, when I first cam to this board I didn't get why everyone was so into the Pam. I thought they are big and ugly, but now they are starting to grow on me (I guess that's how it starts). On another note, is anyone else getting into hot water with theire wifes? I have been accused of spending large amounts of time in this forum. This is bad since I'm on the road right now.
  23. Thanks for welcoming me and giving me all this great information. More information also means more questions in my case. Since I’m going to be traveling for a while I’m in no rush to buy a rep right now, giving me more time to read and learn. So reading By-Tor’s modding threat www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=4509 , now would it be feasible to just buy a cheap rep and mod it up to look as close to the gen as possible? By feasible I mean cost effective? Actually, let’s do some math looking at the SMP (Sea-Master Professional 2254.50.00): Hands Hr./Min 26.20 Sweep Sec. 18.20 Bracelet 460 Case (could only find the 007) 689 Bezel 168 So let’s say we get a cheap SMP form Paul for 159 and looking at the picture exchanging the hands for 44.40 (they are the only thing I can see from the pictures, maybe someone can tell me what else is improvable with this watch, the bezel seems right in the picture) or Andrews with Asian 21J movement for 108 (not sure what to change here besides the Bezel for 168, in the pictures the hands seem long enough) So we could have one for $199.40 or $276 and then we look at some of the more expensive SMPs and like Joshua at 218 and it looks like we might have to change the hands at 44.40. So in the end we pay 264.40. All these prices are assuming that we don’t need to exchange any other parts. Best bargain even after mod is with Paul at $199.40 (after reading all the post about him I’m still not sure what to make of him). There is also some nice other SMPs I saw of example Kings seems nice; I just don’t know the price right now. By the way By-Tor not sure which super human nail power you have, but a brought an old Invicta on my trip to take it apart. Broke both my thumb nails on the case, and could not get it off with a knife. I like to modd thing, so this will be a nice side job. For my first rep I think I’ll go with the TAG and then later on with the Omega Chrono. Toni
  24. Great web-site with lots of information; I have looked at replicas for a while, but never took the plunge. In my younger years I actually had a small collection of Chronos, mainly Sectors and still have two three around. As all newbie I have a few questions regarding the watches I like and hopefully someone can point me in the right directions. The first watch I have my eye on is the Sea-Master Professional (one of my all time favorite). From what I have read some of the main points to look out for are: The right length of the hands, the position of the He valve, the date wheel being black and the pearl on top to be concaved. Not sure, but I read in the OMEGA guides by bytor that there where nearly perfect reps of the Sea-Master Professional from the so called “Closed Factory”, assuming that there are none around of these how is the general feeling on the SMP reps right now? Many of the pictures from the dealers seem to have short hands and not the concaved pearl on top. (On a side note, I saw one with a Polar Swiss 25 jewels movement, how is the polar movement?) The second one is the Omega Sea-Master Chronograph "James Bond"; don’t know much about the watch. It does look stunning. Last but not least the TAG Link Chrono in Black. Another awesome looking watch and what I have read a pretty accurate rep. So, if your were me which watch would you start a collection with? O boy I already know this forum will cost me money. Toni
