  1. That would be a disappointment, since the WM9 bracelet is stamped MA11 on the clasp and does not have the 92350 on the links.

MA would designate a 2005 production year.

THe noob is stamped AD on the clasp and has the 92350 stamp on the links. Which would be correct for a 2003 production run.

Seems manageable to me, take the first links of the noob, mod them and put th on the wm9. (if the steel color is the same..)

No one will ever notice on the wm9, but i know you do it for yourself .. I am like that as well :-))

  2. Gents,

My mom's 60th birthday is coming up, combined with Cmas i got her an expensive designer bracelet.

Unfortunately she did like the design, but can not handle 925 sterling silver.

Got her a matching necklace for the bday... well that goes back to the shop as well

Now i need a new gift, either a used ss datejust, or a rep to be frankenized in the future.

If anyone could help me out with a used SS DJ, that would be great, esp when it would fit a rep President bracelet.

If not, where to get a DJ which is a good base to be frankenized (hence accepts gen bezel, gen dial as a start)

What I want in a rep:

    • Around 30mm DJ
    • White dial, Roman or sticks
    • Fluted bezel
    • Good base for gen dials, and a gen fluted bezel.
    • President Bracelet

Plz if anyone has modding experience plz let me know
      all info highly appreciated.

What I am looking for in a gen / franken

      • Good price
      • Steel
      • Europe
      • pref white dial.
      • pref without bracelet

plz help or my mom will by a Rado.

:yuk: (where is the puking icon when you need one)

  3. Sorry guys... been just very busy with work lately. But now I'm back again. :D

Yes, this looks incredible... there's no denying it. The U-shaped crown guards, excellent crispy looking dial, etc.

The seconds marker at '6 is just a dot, and it's too short. But I doubt it's any kind of issue in real life. Noticeable in these huge photos though.

This is Christmas for the Yachtie fans. Yeah, the prices are what they are, but WM9 has brought Sub and YM to a new level.

Looking forward to watcher's review. Beautiful watch.

ahh why did i ever ask you???

I have been staring at the gen all day, and could not the marker at 6.

it is not a dot. jaiks. I would never ever have noticed myself.

ow man.. i will wait for the V2 (which has another detail off... :-))

but this looks great, am really curious about the new bezel though

  4. Always something brother. We just have to take the little things in stride or be constantly bummed. The only way around it is to buy the gen if you love a watch that much. The ceramic GMT is easily desribed as a super rep with room to spare and I still say that after having owned the gen for a time. I didn't love the watch enough personally to justify keeping it when I decided to start thinning my gen collection, but now the rep is back on my list as I think it is easily accurate enough to justify its cost. In other words I only liked it at $6K but I love it at $300. Many watches have been the other way around and I just can't live without the gen because I loved the rep so much.

My suggestion to you is to maybe look at the best reps that way and think of them in terms of value for the money. It may help you live with the flaws easier. Keep in mind that these factories wouldn't be able to make the money they do if they made perfect watches. They are certainly capable. They want flaws to keep customers chasing the latest greatest that never comes. Genius really. So my advice is just enjoy them for what they are and stay out of the flaw game - unless you are a modder who loves the project of assembling different parts to make the one best version. I realize you can't do that wih the watch you speak of - yet. But who knows, one day they correct the rehaut on a subsequent version but they will purposefully ruin something else on that version instead. Genius. So now everyone buys it again just to rob the case and swap the other parts over. Now they sold two watches to a bunch of people. Look at the Planet Ocean saga. That is the best recent example of what I speak of. Silly. After a bit I just refused to chase it aand bought the gen. I loved the watch so much I decided I need not live with any flaws. If I didn't do that I would have all told bought three rep versions and bought gen parts and done the necessary lume and AR before it was over.

So if you truly love a watch get the gen. If not just embrace the chase and play the waiting game for fixes. It just unfortunately comes with the rep territory my friend.

i might end up doing that with the IIc

on the other hand I have a 16610 on the way and enough gens to keep me busy. I really do not need..

oh well who "needs" more then one tool watch :-))

  5. I believe the color differences you see are due to the fact that the gen insert is ceramic & the rep is plastic. A very nice plastic, but plastic just the same.

The numbers on the gen are vapor-deposited (I cannot recall what Rolex calls its trademark name for the same process) platinum, which is why they appear a different shade than the plastic on the rep insert. As was mentioned, few will be able to detect the difference without having both side-by-side & knowing what to look for (or which is which).

I also think that unless you have the chs version of the rep, spending money on a gen insert & crystal, while nice touches, will not cover up the fact that the handstack is wrong. And the errant handstack positioning is easier to detect than the crystal or missing platinum crystals in the numbers.

    Party on, Garth. ;)

Freddy, this must be th first time i disagree with you completely.

lack of the platinum/whitegold / whatever on the nrs is much easier to spot then the handstack imho.

(unless the 24 hour hand is crossing the hour hand of course)

I have the CHS, perhaps the ols ceramic but the nrs are way off.

does anyone have an idea how i can color the nrs?
