  1. Here are better pics. Pearl just reattached. All indicative of V3. So I guess there might many similar copies of V3 floating in the market.
  2. Just received the V3 DSSD I bought from a dealer. When I open up to have look inside, it seems that I got one with a single piece caseback version and not the two-piece caseback we all know V3 has. But looking at the thin bezel, large crown and correct Hev (same as other pics of V3), I am confused. Is there another version I am not aware of or the factory has started to cut cost and use single piece caseback for V3. Anyone know anything. Would really want to get it changed with the dealer if I am given the wrong version. Not to mention I have to remove the pearl and reglue it since it came misaligned. Thanks.
  3. I think they have the father but not the son watch. Not very accurate though.
  4. Ideally, I like to think that I should send it for servicing regularly. But the chances of the watch getting "damaged" asthetically is very highly even if you send gen to authorised servicing agents. The problem is the lack of a capable and highly merticulous watch repair/servicing professionals. Someone you can trust to do a really fine job. Most just do not have the patience to clear the dust, good eye for details or even worse handle it carelessly causing scratches (it will be a nightmare if it is on the dial). But can we blame them when they have to service hundreds of watches each month? When new, gens are assembled in clean rooms. But getting it service after that, you probably do not have such facilities locally in your country. Dust and other smudges are common complains from WIS who are generally anal about perfection in their watches. As many can testify, you should have come across many such horror stories in forums. So when sending in a watch regularly like a car, you are also taking a huge gamble each time if it will turn out fine after the servicing. For car service, most parts are easily accessible and aesthetic damge is not really seen most of the time as it is hidden under the hood. For wtaches, it is a different story, working on watches is like micro surgery to some extent. If the dial or hands are not handled properly, damage is very prominent and can ruin the whole experience of owning the watch. That is why I believe some watch company will simply change new hands for you sometimes. Watches are just too fragile and requires very skilled person to handle. Coming back to Reps. Althought it is not the same as gens and most are not as perfect as gens, it is also an issue, because of the availablility of good watchsmiths to work on it. As most of you have found out, it is not easy to get someone to work on reps. And once damaged, replacement parts such as hands or dials will be quite a pain to source sometimes, without buying another watch again. So, in most cases, replacing the movement or the entire watch might be a better option since asian movement is cheap and newer and more accurate models will replace the old. So it really depends on other factors as well. Its up to the owner to think if at the end of the day, the benfits of servicing outweighs the costs and the risks involved.
  5. Looking at the quality of the finishing and plates on the movement, it can never be swiss. Its simply too rough. Just look at the screws they used. Looks like it has some much damge and made of low quality materials.
  6. Just received the Strapluxe Bip Pilot Black with whit stiching Gator strap. Quality is much better than the rep strap but could have been better given the price. Hope this help those who are on the fence if they should get the strap. I for sure would not pay so much if I had known. Overall, on the watch it looks quite good. Very elegant... Stiching is not even on the short end and some parts of the leather is not shiny... The deployment buckle can be used with the strap. It fits perfectly. StrapLuxe version is probably the better 3rd party big pilot straps out there now. There is not much choice over this other than getting the IWC original one. The rep case is very sharp in the lugs and buckle. Its best to sand or file down the edges of the lugs before fitting in new expensive strap. If not it will most certainly ruin your new strap like what it has been done to the rep strap ripping the sides of the straps. Thanks for reading...
  7. +2 Colour is right but... overall look does not seem quite right...
  8. Just a warning. The crown and tube strips easily for this watch. Please take extra care when screwing in the crown...
  9. For the record, this is my picture of my CHS GMT2C and Gen GMT2C. Please state it clearly that this is the case and not misled people to impley that the rep is from TTK. I do not mind people using it but pls do not mislead people. Thanks.
  10. The Concord C1 are like that as well. Its quite ok. I think the rotor is not heavy enough or something. But this does not affect the functions of the watch. Its probably a batch issue with the movement.
  11. Looks good so far. But is it going to cost a limb? 398 perhaps?
  12. Better get it while it is within reach. Sinn has raised its price for many of its watches, just like how many other brands are doing these days. Watches are insanely priced nowadays, even for a stock eta inside.
  13. My Paneral Regatta came with a misaligned power reserve hand. This is an old rep I got from eddie lee long long ago. While clearing my drawer today, I found this forgotten watch stashed away since new super reps have been keeping me occupied. After reseting the power reserve hand, I took some pics of the watch along with some others within my reach, all light up and ready for xmas... Looks really nice in the dark even though its not superlume for the Regatta.
  14. The exposure time is 1/8s and its not competely dark. Thats why it does not look bright. In real life, the super lume on the gen is way brighter. Here's a 1s exposure.
  15. Well, you can get it done with chieftang or jakub. Proven quality.
  16. Totally agree nobody is going to point it out on the wrist. Its a great rep but as an owner of more than 50 reps, I am slowly moving towards gen as the impecable quality and finish of gen cannot be matched by the rep anyday. Of course, that applies for anal WIS like us only.
  17. Have some time during the weekend, so I took some side by side comparison pics of the gen and rep GMTIIC. Besides all the usual flaws pointed out earlier, the mail difference is the overall feel of the watch. Gen has a more defined case. Angles on the case is sharper. Lume is also matt and not shiny like the rep. GMT hand has a different green shade as well. Crown on the bracelet is bigger for gen. Enjoy the pics. Left rep, Right gen.
  18. Depending on how honest the dealer is describing the watch, most of the watches listed with asiab 2836 now are in fact the asian copy of eta. It looks exactly the same as eta with the markings in most cases. From what I see, all are gold coloured movement for asian. So having a look at the movement pic will the best to determine if it is asian copy or A21J.
  19. The recessed date wheel should be least of your concern. The printing on the date wheel itself is quite thin and bad to give it away. Unitl I open it up again for some reason, I will not know.
  20. Nice to hear from you again. Looks like whatever the dealers states on the website, we really have to take it with a huge pinch of salt. Its thick alright but they never tell you what it is made of... Crap... haha. Still undecided if I should spend almost an equivalent amount of money on a decent strap.. hmmm..
  21. Looks like the quality differs for different batches. Other have not reported such issues. The glue can be cleaned off with micro-fiber clothe and some alcohol solution if you thinking of cleaning it.
  22. What leather? There are none at all! Its all plastic with a thin weeny layer of fake plastic leather! Lol.... I thought I would be impressed by the strap going by some of the earlier reviews but I guess no reps will ever come with decent thick leather strap. I am also not impress by the quality of this piece either. Mine came with some residual glue on the date window frame. I had to open it up to clean it. And whats that? a little 2 marking on the side of the case??? Giving me a little extra work to clean it off??? The AR, although looks great at first glance is actually not so good if you look closely. After opening mine up to clean the date window frame and remove a few specks from the dial, you can clearly see small scratches on the AR. Not as good as it claims to be, like swiss double AR. Other super reps like concord and HBB has much better quality AR, at a higher price point of course... Nonetheless, after cleaning it up, it looks reasonably ok... Just need to change the strap! Just sharing my little findings...
  23. I have the same problem with the deployment buckle. It very loose and keeps openning up with the slightest pull. Looks like this is a batch problem. Should try to get it changed with the dealer if newer batch is better.
  24. Just to point out. It seems that even the latest has some problem with the Bell@Ross lettering on the dial. The @ should be centered just below the 2 of "12" marker. It is too far left in the rep. This screams rep in your face. Too obvious a flaw.
  25. Mine crack right through when I got it after a few weeks. Not sure if it is the screw or what but certainly the ceramic bezels are damn fragile. So treat it with care and do not screw too tight.
