  1. Hi everyone, I have lost DW's contact info after I moved back to Hong Kong from Hawaii. Could anyone shed some light? Please send me a PM for that, all I need is his email or phone number. He knows me and I've talked to him awhile back. Thanks much. Pat
  2. I've come across the similar watches, four in total from one of my customers 2 weeks ago. He brought those back from his Hong Kong, China trip. They all have the identical D320840 serial, wrong 18K 750 case back and 93288 SEL markings like Trustys pictures. Other than these minor flaws that won't affect appearance of this D serial Sub, it is an outstanding finished rep. All sharp edges (typical in Reps) are rounded off and nicely brushed and polished. Printing on dial under 10X loupe still sharp. The slightly offset crown (due to 2836) and bent spring bars still persist. The major problem of those four I touched would be water resistance. The factory tried to resemble the new Rolex case with flat 2mm crystal without lip. That means it won't accept the Rolex factory 295C with a tall gasket like old models with pre-F serial or other 16XXXs. It utilizes a thin white grooved plastic ring that sits right above the rehaut and the case is flat. The sapphire crystal is "thumb-friendly" as far as removing. I popped all three of them by hand because they had misaligned laser crown and date for correction, and they came off fairly easy. Hence I jumped the conclusion that they might have turned without R&R by simply using suction cup type case back opener on crystal to realign the date bubble and crown. Again, I haven't tried but they might... I hope what Trusty's selling are pressure tested and have improved gaskets/seals if they are of the same batch from the same factory.
  3. Jacobsen1, I've come across a few recent 16610LVs with D serial from a customer. I guess these are the latest version from GuangZhou that he brought back. Crystals are 2mm sapphire non-stepped with laser-etched crown, no raised lip on case. Similar to what you have. Crystals are held down by thin white plastic rings/seals. Since they are press fitted and popped out easily by applying a LITTLE pressure from underneath (thumb pushing). You may want to try using the hand tool with rubber/vacuum cup (Suction-type screw back case opener?) which most people would use for case back opening. Try it on the crystal see if it turns. I have never tried this on customers watches though, but that's what I'll try before taking the disassembly route, and I guess it'll work. It may be even better if you have a watchmaker around you and if he can give it a shot on his Bergeon 5700 or Horotec opener . If that works that'd barely cost you anything. Just my 0.02.
  4. Top 3 characters: Station West Road Bottom 4 characters: Wrist Watch Mar-ket (Market in Chinese consists of two words) In fact I am going there by the end of the month in the hunt of 6263 case for my project. Never been there, should be fun...
  5. You folks had made lots of good points that I am still trying to catch on... $3K for a Ebel 16520, and $1.2K for a completed VJ72 6263 rep (what is your recipe if you don't mind share)! I am envy of you guys finding parts so cheap... The last brand new VJ72 LeCoultre on eBay, seller wanted $1K... I look up to you folks for infomation that ordinary watchmakers won't have or won't share... it's a hidden treasure. I bet you folks have more than one geniune Daytonas but they won't be on your wrists much more than your reps! If I were one of you receiving compliments wearing these "almost perfect" reps that will fool 99.9% people out there, I'd feel X times better than wearing the gens... it's an achievement because I built it! I am working towards it... Thanks guys. Pat
  6. I went back and look again, yes U/H's indeed too close, but what's wrong with crown? Size wise or sticker too far out? I really wish that's gonna happen... if VJ72s supply < demand, price will go up. What is the economical sense of making more nicer cases while facing a shortage of movements? Is there a Chinese made VJ72 copy yet? Yes very true... and I did email him but he hasn't responded yet. I agree, I hope that don't drive down production and quality of rep 6263 case kits... Thanks avitt and the collector. Pat
  7. Thank you Randy. I've looked into these cases: 1) David Wong? Case and case back not engraved; 2) Similar non engraved; 3) Everything looks better but BIN $995! I am in fact looking for something like item# 330045222110. Is this a genuine or replica? Case back satin finish is very nice, looks very gen to me. BTW, my uncle in Hong Kong called and told me that he has located and already purchased a Longine w/72® for me! I am stoked! T21, tube & crown on the way to him! All I need is case, band and dial and I am set. I am taking a trip there late November and want to visit GuangZhou to shop for this if I can't find something really nice by then. Any idea where to shop? Thanks and Aloha all for help, much appreciated! Pat
  8. Thanks Chronus I will check eBay, but there's a bunch of 6263/65 cases around... who's a good seller? Pat
  9. Hi Everybody, For the past two days after I joined the forum, I've been reading a lot of infomative threads. You folks popped my eyes in terms of horological knowledge and experiences. I am very pleased that I found my way to the site, kudos to you all. Special thanks to Ubiquitous answering my several PMs giving me some insights in regard to building a replica 6263, I guess he's got tied up or out of town for the weekend... Can you experienced 6263 builder folks share some of your recipes for the best 6263? I am getting genuine T21, case and tube. Either a V72 or V726. I was informed that DW has the best 6263 case kit less movement runs around mid 300 shipped, and how can I buy one? And who has the best hands to fit the V7s? And whose has the best dial in terms of quality and accuracy? Do I need to replace the one comes in the DW kit? I heard it's very close to original, isn't it? Thanks in advance for your help. Aloha, Pat
