  1. I've been away for awhile and haven't ordered any watches in over a year. Upon my return to RWG, I saw a cool thread about a reasonably accurate "Goldfinger" sub being offered by Josh, Andrew, and others, so I decided to get one. I tried to order from Josh, but had problems checking out (probably my fault), so I tried Andrew and was able to complete the order. I've ordered from both in the past and have always been satisfied with their service.

Then something happened that I didn't expect. I received and email from Andrew with QC pictures of the watch he's sending for me for my approval! He had never done this on other watches I've ordered in the past, but I'm glad he does now and I hope this is how all of our trusted dealers are doing business now!

These are the pics he sent me:

    P1010714.jpg?t=1283528316

BTW - Can anyone tell me what Andrew is showing me in the 5th picture (second from last)?

  2. Yep...It's insane. That race is in my backyard. I live in Castle Rock CO. Pikes Peak is about 45 miles from my house. They used to refer to Pikes Peak as "Unser mountain" because the Unser clan (of Indy Car fame)used to dominate, but not so much anymore.

Believe it or not, they've been doing this race for something like 90 years and I think only 3 people have died.

  3. @ Midshipman - Very nice project! I've been wanting to do one of these for a long time. I even ordered the corvus strap in 18mm and 20mm when they were first released thinking that I ever got around to doing the Goldfinger sub, and corvus no longer had the straps available, I'd be kicking myself for not getting one.

@Mickey - Thanks for the link to PC. I didn't realize these were available. I just ordered one, so it looks like I will finally get to use my corvus strap!

  4. for me it wasn't worth spending more. I've got a Gen Swiss eta 2836 movement DSSD with 316f steel and good solid build quality. All the qualities of a V5 for almost half the price that other dealers charge. Trevor sent me 2 sets of QC pics (all with date written on a piece of paper along with my email address).... all of the exact same watch that I received... QC couldn't have been better for me with trevor. I'll also telll you that i was the first on the forum to print my experiences with him, and am partly responsible for him becoming a dealer here as a result of my flawless transaction.

Having said that. I realize that not everyone has had such a perfect transaction with him. One person received a watch with a cracked bezel that i recall.

If you're seriously considering his Version DSSD.. i HIGHLY reccomend it, but i would make sure to contact him first and ask about whether or not he has any left. He also got married this summer and had to deal with his town getting completely wiped out in the southern china floods back in may/june. Try to contact him and see what he can do for you.

I've heard great things from BK as well as josh.. but i refused to pay $440usd for a watch that I can get qc'ed from trevor for $240usd....

    my .02cents :)

Sorry if it sounded like I was doubting the quality of Trevor's products or his integrity, that was not my intention. He seems to have a very loyal following. That says a lot.

    I'm sure he's a stand up guy.

    -Mike

  5. I'm just about to pull the trigger on one of these from Trevor after messing up my keyless works on my previous model (ETA) , I see that watcheden have models up to $408 .

My question is , Is it worth spending more ????

    Opinions please !

I'm sure Trevor's is a fine watch, but you might want to consider BK's noobfactory DSSD. BK is awesome when to comes to QC.

Most of the others (not sure about Trevor) drop ship from the factory, The factories don't exactly have the best (or any) QC, so you have no idea what you are going to receive. BK inspects every watch to ensure it has a Genuine Swiss movement. He checks alignment of dial and bezel and corrects what he can, and installs one of his awesome date wheel overlays to be centered it the date window. I don't know how you feel about this, but for me, I can't stand when the date on my watch doesn't land dead center in the date window.

Good luck in whatever you choose.

    Mike

  6. was it in stock? i thought there was a waiting list on them.

    Hulk,

Just to be clear, I'm speaking of the noob factory DSSD, not the WM9 SD.

Send BK a PM. He didn't have one available to ship to me, but with a small deposit, he will be able to ship one is a reasonable amount of time.

Sorry about being vague, but I don't want to speak for BK as to when he can deliver a watch to you. You'll have to speak to him.

    Hope that helps,

    Mike

  7. WOW...opinions are all over the place...Thanks all for the input.

I think I'll probably skip and use the cash to have Zig lume my wm9 v1 project.

I'll stick with the tastefulness of the sub and skip the "punch you in your face" brashness of the Graham for now...Although, they do have some sort of appeal, just can't exactly put my finger on why they are intriguing me so much lately...Maybe just the itch for something new...or that angel wing thing :D...who knows?

@corgi and laz...I'll be watching for the FF.

  8. I just can't stand these morons who come here every now and then asking for someone else to decide what/whether they must (not) buy. I bear these narrow-minded loosers no ill will.

IMO, this particular watch is absolutely and brilliantly FUGLY. It seems to me that this Mr. Murphy somehow thinks alike, so why does he even bother to air his indecision? Come on brother, if you don't like, don't buy it. Period!

(Look a these poor guy: +790 posts and still didn't realise what is (or isn't) good for him!! Go figure!)

    Nice comment...Thanks pal.

  9. yep that was my purchase - [censored] poor packing but seems to be ok. have not cased it yet though.

Original price was $350 and he lowered it to $290 or something like that and I offered $250 via message so he lowered it and I purchased. The week prior I missed one that sold for $152.50

Oh the guy did ship fast. Had it in my hands two days after I paid

    Great info ifly...Thanks.

If it sticks around much longer, I may have to make an offer.
