Another point is that, with my watches. I sit it down in different positions
will cause it to run faster or slower. e.g. with the crown down. My sub
will run 1 or 2 second faster at night.
Thanks again for the reminder david. This worked...I actually got the watch to gain 1 1/2 sec overnight.
And one more thing, just to set the record straight. maxman is a good man. If my smartass joke offended in any way, my apologies.

Check with Vav over repgeek. I believe he's willing to service the GMTiiC
Thank you sir...I'll do that.

If I am reading your posts correctly, you have regulated it to -3 seconds per 24hrs??? If that is the case, leave it alone!
Thats very respectable, and really not worth having the watch serviced.
Just my $.02
Yeah...I know CBR...I just hate it when my watches run slow. I'd rather have them run fast so all I have to do to set them to the correct time is to pull the crown out for a few seconds.
I know...Pretty anal..
But you're right...I'll probably just let it go.

What I gave you was a sincere reply to your post, why the snotty response, you tell me. I never insinuated that you dont read these forums. How was I supossed to know when you purchased the watch? You said nothing about taking a chance Thats why I asked if you were aware of the problems before you purchased the watch.
Where you get this 200 per month post thing is beyond me. I mean what does that have to do with anything? I had know Idea you knew so much. If I would have known about your extensive knowledge I would not have not responed. The thing I cant figure out elvis
If your so dam smart, why ask any questions? Considering that your so well aware of the issues and all. The next time someone responds to your post just say thanks, or maybe better yet say nothing at all. Just a thought.
Easy there big fella...I don't think my response was a bit snotty. Did you catch the part where I said I should have explained that it was an IHS movement?
I was simply pointing out that the movement that both The Zigmeister and By-Tor had bad luck with was the CHS movement. There IS a difference.
You shook your finger at me and asked if I had ever heard that before. That's why I felt compelled to tell you that I read MUCH more than I post, so yes, I am aware of the issues with 2836 based GMT movements. But that wasn't even the question I asked. I asked if anyone knew of a person who services these movements.
I think I'm anything but a know it all. Look through all my posts over the last 3 years. See if you can find a single post where I misinformed anyone with knowledge I claimed to have, but didn't.
So no lectures please, I think my etiquette on these boards has been just fine.
Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Pretty cool, but I gotta say that this is the first time I've ever seen a watch that had a properly aligned date wheel, but a misaligned date window.

WOW!! One of your Balls is way bigger than the other!!
Must be hard to walk!!
But seriously, that brand intrigues me. I think they overkill the use of the Tritium tubes on some of their models, but I still like their styling.
Nice collection.

Thanks for the reminder...I have heard that before, but honestly, I had forgotten.
This is the only watch I have that varies this much, but I'll try to lay it crown down and see what happens.
Thanks!!

Excellent method. It worked great for me. I would have never thought of that...Thanks!!

I hope you can find some one to work on your 2836-2 movement. I was about a week away from ordering a Pam GMT with this same movement. Then I read The Zigmeisters repair review, no thanks.
By tor also had problems with the 2836-2. Did you know about the Issues with this movement before you made the purchase? Not that it realy matters now. Good luck
Mike
Sorry, I should have stated that this is the WHS (wrong hand stack) or IHS (incorrect hand stack) movement that is supposed to be much more reliable than the CHS version.
By-Tor says he has had good luck with the ETA version of this movement, but no experience with the clone version (but he says he's heard reports that it is less reliable than the ETA).
The GMT function actually works well on mine, it just seems kind of sticky and I was equating that to dryness. It doesn't seem that I can adjust it enough to get the time in the +2 to 5 second range I desire. I have the screw adjusted to full + and still get about - 3 seconds per day.
Just because I don't post 200+ times per month doesn't mean I don't read this these forums.
I am well aware of the issues and the fact that Zig doesn't work on them, but like I said, I got a great deal and was willing to take a chance. If I can't find a watchsmith to service it, I'll just deal with it running a little slow.

I got a great deal on a GMT II ceramic Pro Hunter w/ Asian clone 2836-2 movement. I have fallen in love with this watch, but I can't get it satisfactorily regulated. It seems to run well during the day, but it slows down a couple seconds at night unless I keep it in my winder. It is also pretty sticky when adjusting time. I'm pretty sure a proper tear down and service would do wonders, but The Zigmeister won't touch these movements (Asian or ETA).
Can anyone help me?
Thanks,
Mike

I had nothing but problems with my Vostoks. As with all mechanical things Russian, their reliability is a shot in the dark--more so than reps, even. They are also a ROYAL pain in the ass to regulate/keep regulated.
Oh...bummer gio...Not what I wanted to hear. Guess I have a little more research and thinking to do. The research is the easy part...thinking always hurts a little...
-
I have had good luck with some of Vostok's automatic movements. In fact, they have a pretty good anti-shock system. I once rode 4 hours off-road dirt bikes wearing a Vostok Amphibian. It is also my skiing/snowboarding watch. Thing is still running in the winder perfectly after 3 years.
Movements are solid, but some of the case/crown external components could be improved. The 2 Vostoks I have had have both had wobbly crowns, loose bezels, etc.
Thank you sir...I believe this model does not have a screw down crown. Maybe I'll choose a different GMT model that does.

Anybody have a Vostok-europe watch?
I really like the way this one looks:
It's about $300. Not bad for a mechanical GMT. The negatives I've found are mineral crystal and 19,800 bpm.
Any feedback?
Thanks,
Mike

... the first one is "out of the box", no modding ... a gen insert and it will be perfect.
The second one has been heavily modded, also needs a gen insert .... the inserts are on their way
Thank you for looking
1 and 3 are the same watch and 2 and 4 are the same watch...correct?
1/3 also need some CG modding.
Nice pair!!

3 is a rep (WM9 v1 or PTs)...CGs too wide and solid mid link bracelet. I'll have to study a little more on the others.

I just bought my first black watch, a Pro Hunter GMT II-C. I got a good deal that I couldn't pass up from a fellow member.
I can't take my eyes off of it!! I think it is ineradicably cool and beautiful. The shinny black ceramic bezel looks awesome against the shinny black case.
Only time will tell if I still love it a year from now, but my guess is that I will.
BTW gio - Your girls bike wheels are painted the same color as the bikes body (frame) and I don't think the aesthetics of that shot are ruined at all!!

If you hit the watch from the top, the glass may indeed protect the bezel. However in the majority of cases someone hits a watch from the side. As there is a sharp edge, you hit both the bezel and the glass. This is exactly what happened to my Ti watch with the same glass design as Rolex: Now there is a scratch on the case AND a small scratch on the glass, because its sharp edge was hit. If the watch surface was flat, I

Totally agree Richard...
...And let me just add that I have read some posts lately where newer members have stated, matter of factly, that a particular watch isn't what the poster or seller state it is, but rather something else (i.e. 4th gen, noob factory...stuff like that) and they were dead wrong.
It's one thing to think you are more knowledgeable than you really are in a general post, but if you're going to question someone's sales post, you had better be right!!
Advice to newer members...Read more, post less!!
I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from posting worth while and valuable information, but the more you learn, the more valuable your posts will be. Don't just spew crap and try to raise you post count!!
OK...I'm done..

I'll give it to Fakey, he may be one of the most arrogant, pompus, self righteous piece of s**t on the planet, but he is a master of his craft!! They don't make much better than some of his pieces, including Switzerland!!
Man that must be the nicest thing I ever said about him, I need a shower now, I feel dirty!!
Yeah...I'll have to check his stuff out.

I have the Pro Hunter GMT II ceramic bezel. I've loved it since I first saw it. I wasn't quite willing to pay the cartel price for this particular watch, but when a brand new Asian clone 2836 version came for sale in the trade forum for $165, I couldn't resist.
I'm EXTREMELY glad I pulled the trigger. It's a real stunner!! So far (less than a week
), the movement has been great...GMT hand works perfectly...watch gains 2 sec/day.
Just hope it lasts.
