  1. I hear ya OS...If I wanted a nice complete watch, I probably would have done the same thing. But I'm more interested in playing around with this case and parts in my parts bin (OK, not really a bin...actually a shoe box). I have a sanitized 6947 w/dagger swan neck I've been looking to use. I don't even know if it will fit in this case, but I'll find out.
  2. Yeah...I saw that too. I'm hoping it's either a bad example or at the very least, just on the strap bars (lug bars? I don't know what to call them) and that the actual case is decent PVD. The only reason I was willing to try is that I bought a PVD Luminor off the bay (different seller though) and the PVD was pretty good. It had the wrong brushed finish, but the actual PVD was nice. We'll see.
  3. Hey t, GREAT news. I would say all your volunteers are reputable guys...Can't wait to see them!!
  4. HA!! I was going through some of my old zoo pictures and found this: OK...Maybe I need to grow up.
  5. I'll definitely post a mini review when I get it. I hope I can put a manual movement in it. I also hope I can find a sapphire crystal.
  6. Hey Andy...Here is the actual item I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...N:IT&ih=021
  7. I just bought this on ebay. About $100 shipped. I'll gut this and use the case only. Hope it's decent.
  8. Yep...I agree...It would be very cool. I've always been partial to sub sec dials (especially sandwich).
  9. I couldn't agree more rolli!! @everyone else...Thanks for the kind words.
  10. Thank you sir...And I have to thank you for your efforts on creating these awesome CGs!! They really transform the watch!!
  11. Thanks Jiro...The GC came from the guy with the post just above yours...V. I think he's out of them, but I've seen a few in the parts and tools trade forum. They really do "make" the watch IMO. They're not cheap, but neither is a Ferrari...There's a reason for that.
  12. This strap, which is available from member xlr8tn, is simply beautiful. I liked it so much, I ordered one in cognac. It's a pretty dark brown, so it didn't photograph as well as it looks in person. These shots show off the V CG pretty nicely as well. I've also been playing with lighting and editing. I think the shots are a little on the yellow side, but it's late and I'm tired of messing with them. Maybe later. EDIT - re-edited color balance on all pictures. And a couple more to show more of the strap
  13. You are lucky, and so are your kids. I'm one of 6 children in my family...What a great way to grow up!!
  14. Hey Pollux, Thank you for sharing. I can feel the love and pride in your story. I have been blessed with 2 healthy boys. They are 17 years apart (I know, I'm nuts). My youngest is 11 months old and I get pure joy watching the smallest of new accomplishments. I can only imagine how you must feel watching your little girl overcome her paralysis!! I'd bet the farm you are a wonderful Daddy! Thanks again for sharing and have a great weekend. Mike
  15. C'mon Snrubb, I'm dying to know the story behind this dial...Please...please...please...please!!!
  16. Good point!! A plain ticket would actually be pretty cheap insurance.
  17. So is the 2 and the 3...If that isn't a gen dial, it's the best rep I've ever seen!!
  18. What the HELL!?!? I was just convinced I was a homo because I watched Michael Phelps swim, But...but...wha...what's this bulge growing in my trousers?!?! Those 2 are really Olympic athletes? Holy Shnikies!! I'm with you Rasta...gotta visit Brazil!! Gotta say though, I shot a USA vs Brazil womans soccer game last month that was an Olympic warm up (the game before Abby Wambach broke her leg), and the Brazilian soccer ladies didn't look anything remotely like that!!
  19. Very nice!! What dial is that? It looks great!! Might I suggest a V 1:1 CG?
