  1. I just bought this on the bay: Not bad for a 53 year old movement. I probably over paid a little bit ($92 + $3.95 shipping), but someone else wanted it pretty bad too. We kind of got into a bidding war. I've been watching these for a few weeks now and this is one of the cleanest movements I've seen. I want to pull the movement and build a watch, just not sure where to start. I've seen someone install one of these movements in a fiddy case, and I've seen t install one in one of his cases. I think I like t's better. (If you're reading this t, any chance I could get a hold of one of those cases?) Anyway, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks, Mike
  2. Different strokes...I don't know about how it sits on the wrist, but I think it looks cool as hell.
  3. Stilts...ARE YOU NUTS!?!? GO GET IT...If you can't justify it, I have a pretty cute 1 yr old I'll trade ya... Not really...His mom would kill me.
  4. OH MY GOD That was TOOO funny. This guy has got to be related to starwars kid!! I'll be he gets all the chicks!!!
  5. WOW!!! Puretime's price is a penny!! Now I'm tempted!!
  6. $450 I'll at least consider...$600 not a chance in hell.
  7. Awesome T!!! Can't wait for the T-48!! The T-60s are great crowns, now we get the correct number of teeth!! 40 Euro sounds very reasonable to me.
  8. I'm really sorry to hear this capice. I too am very close to my family...especially my Mom and Dad. Thankfully they are both still here, but I don't know how I'm going to deal with either of their passing. Stay strong and I'll say a prayer for you and your family. Mike
  9. The swiss movements are great, but if you have a display back, such as the very popular 111h, there is no "full swiss" option. No swiss 6497 available on the open market today has a swan neck, much less the engraved bridges that are available on the Asian version. If I'm wrong, someone please let me know where I can get one!! So, if you are building a PAM clone and want a movement that resembles the gen, you have to go Asian...Or at the very least, a swiss/asian hybrid. That being said, I have a half dozen Asian swannies and haven't had a problem with any.
  10. Hey mwee, It looks nice. Do you have a source you could share? Thanks, Mike
  11. I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean in the time set position (crown pulled out until it clicks)? If that's what you mean, it shouldn't hurt anything, but I would still do it in the winding position.
  12. In the winding position. CAUTION - DON'T unscrew the screw all the way. Try 1 full turn. If the stem does not come out easily, try an additional 1/2 turn. That should do it. Good luck!!
  13. It helps, but it's not necessary. The explanation you got sounds reasonable to me. It's the rubber o-ring type gaskets that keep moisture out. But it's kind of a crap shoot. Being that it is an Invicta and not a rep, you should be covered by warranty if it leaks. ...And welcome.
  14. Sorry...I have to disagree with this statement. There is a big difference between saying "I think your prices are too high." and saying "Damn...Your prices are a ripoff!!". I'd be offended too. The rep game covers a HUGE range of pieces and prices. Some are willing to pay high prices for high quality and some aren't...That's fine. What I don't understand are those who EXPECT to receive the high quality parts for bargain prices. Some of those parts do exist, but why attack someone that puts a project together, does a lot of work, and wants to make a few bucks on the deal? It's very admirable of those who do projects for no profit, but what's so wrong with wanting to make a few bucks?
  15. Looks very good to me compared to the gen. The font may still be slightly thick, but it looks pretty good and the balance/swan neck assembly looks good too. I'd like to see higher res photos. Gen on top:
  16. Personally, I greatly value ALL pictures, comments of gens and comparisons of reps to them...Especially in the Panerai forum. Since the currently available PAM rep models aren't the most accurate reps around, it's these gen comparisons that lead to the excellent projects that members on this and other boards come up with to make 1:1 (or at least damn near) parts (V CGs, T crowns, FGD dials, LH dials, just to name a few). Isn't that what this hobby is all about? And as far as price for gen or rep parts goes, my opinion is that if someone wants to make some money off of what they own or what they create, more power to them...If the market wasn't there, nothing would sell. Just ask V how many CGs he has left, or ask FGD how many dials he has left. The seller only sets a price. It's up to all of us if we want to pay that price. Why begrudge the seller? Doesn't make much sense to me.
  17. You don't belong here?!? That's the most ridiculous think I've ever heard!! For your AWESOME CGs alone, you belong here for life!! Not to mention everything else you've contributed over the years...
  18. Congratulations, welcome, and when voting (especially in FLA), don't dangle your chad!!
  19. I don't think Josh or Andrew have any of those PVDs available anyway. You might want to email him first and ask.
  20. WOW!!! They sure proud of the Deepsea!!
  21. You guys are right. I just supersized one of my pics of my movement and the font is more than slightly thicker. Actually it looks to be about twice as thick...Once again, I get all excited over nothing...
