  1. Yes, have the caseback and movement removed and I am pushing from the inside. Won't budge, if you got it out this same way without touching any of the outside bezel screws please conirm and I will get back to pushing and push unitl something happens. Model is the White Thames AP ROO Cheers, M
  2. I can't get this bugger out. Do you need to remove the bezel screws or something, I even tried that but they don't seem to budge and I don't want to strip/scratch them. I put a good amount of pressure with my thumb and with a crystal press and the crystal will not pop up. Every other crystal I have done this too pops right out. Anyone out there remove their AP Roo crystal? Need advise, M
  3. Is there any AR coating on the AP ROO secs at 12 models. Plan on sending a crystal to Cheiftang and want to know if any existing coat needs to be stripped first. Please advise, M
  4. Hello and welcome. I frequent a few of the boards and find RWG is the most knowledable. This is where the veterans and the professional collectors in the industry call home. Repgeek gets more traffic but also more newbies and less experienced members. The Zigmeister is here, nuff said. Cheers, M
  5. As far as I know there is only 1 manufacture, regardless of dealer. Use who you trust, especially if buying the more expensive ETA version. All 4 drop ship so you may get the Asian or clone ETA either way you go. My gut on this one would be to go with Josh and pay a little more. If you don't get the ETA movement he is most likely going to work it out with you post sale. Normally I would say Angus, but latly things with his service seem to be iffy with other members. Andrew is basically Joshua though some think with worse service and same prices. Paul - is that WoMart? I persoanlly would stay away from him, haven't heard good things. Other than Paul, who I have never used, I have used the other 3 with no compliants always got what I wanted with good service. Cheers, M
  6. subdial hand sizing and placement looks very off. This is usually the case with the cheaper quartz version. Personally I would rather have 1 nicer quality rep than 2 of average quality. Cheers, M
  7. I pick up packages at the local post office sometimes and they never ask for ID. If you have the tracking they will believe you. Similar story I just had with a happy ending. Ordered from a dealer they shipped to my name in my town with no street address. So it was addressed for example: John Smith Anytown, USA 00001 amazingly the dealer put my tel# on the package, I didn't even think I gave him this but must have entered the order online. Anytown's post office called me and told me I had a package from China there. Was a little nervous based on the message, but I showed up and they gave me the package unopened so questions asked. Stupid dealer mistake, happy ending. Cheers, M
  8. Oracle links were very easy to install on my Seconds @ 12 version. Took about 10 minutes. Cheers, M
  9. Mine officially crapped out!!! Will start up but stops randomly, every 10 minutes or so and starts back up. Per hour it will lose a good 5 minutes or more as a result and if place it down the reserve is about 20 minutes tops. The Zigmeister will see mine, probably the first he will see in the flesh, unless someone has an appointment date sooner than mine. He mentioned he not had one in for service or lume yet, but is willing to work on them and also thinks he can relume the dial. Cheers, M
  10. Looks great, love those gen Breitling croc straps! Makes we want a blue croc strap for my blue faced BCE. Is that a gen deployant on the Blue SA or a rep deployant? @reachroland $375 would be for Croc not for Calf Cheers, M
  11. Thank you, I knew it was a dumb question. Of course none of my screwdrivers fit right... The screws are bigger than most watch screws, but if I had the right size I see now that this would be very easy. Thanks, M
  12. Have to agree that a 25 year old accountant might want to look at other options SFSO would be a good fit. An Omega or Tag too would be a classy option that makes perfect sense. That said, this poll is f'd up. I have to vote 1 color for each to make the vote count? I would vote personal taste for the Gt White Dial. And yes, without a doubt a double AR aftermarket count is needed any way you go. if you don't want to do that, even more reason to go with the Swiss ETA version of the SFSO Cheers, M
  13. Is it easy to open the AP seconds at 12 from the backside? I tried very quickly but stopped at risk of stripping/marking any screws. Do you just unscrew the caseback screws?, or do you unscrew the bezel screws first?; or do you have to hold one screw on one side while working the screw on the other side at the same time? If you have opened yours, please let me know, M
  14. Doesn't matter anymore if you put goods. Put "goods" and then nothing in the reference. It used to be that if you put goods you had to describe the goods, but if you put services you did not. Now you never need to describe anything. Cheers, M
  15. I know some owners have had issues with their seconds at 12 movement. Mine suffers from very poor reserve, I am reluctant to hand wind it to power it up, but if I don't it will stop periodically for no reason. How is your reserve? Under 4 hours 5- 8 hours 8-12 hours 12-24 hours 24-48 hours over 48 hours If fully charged I think mine would fall in the 8 hour range, but if not fully charged, an hour or so will make it stop running. Is The Zigmeister accepting this movement for service? Cheers, M
  16. I like both, which suprises myself. Change based on your shoes I say both look good. Nice photos too. If they were gen Breitling croc straps I would prefer the Brown. With the rep options, if forced to choose,I would go black and never go back. Cheers, M
  17. Great comparison, thanks for sharing. Looks great! I did hear these reps had [censored] poor lume, so I was quite happy when I received my White Thames. The lumeis very good, though does not stay bright for very long. Guess the white thames has better lume than the other dials. Cheers, M
  18. My wife really loves the following watches, all are good quality reps: Chanel J12 33MM Black (probably my favoriteon her) Chanel J12 39MM White (for some reason the white looks femanine in the large size, the black looks more masciline in the large size) Omega Aqua Terra - diamond (CZ) markers Frank Mueller Crazy Hours Cartier Roadster-Ladies Louis V. Lovely Diamonds Patek 24 Hour Rolex Ladies Datejust 28MM never seen in person, but the Cartier LaDona also looks very nice, but the gen is about $40K I think so I don;t wantto get her this model. Gen is solid white gold, rep is SS. One of the best things you will find about ladies reps, the movements are typically less complicated in fact many of these gens arequartz so the costis lower than Mens reps on average. Not as many super reps, but there are more than ahandful of relly good ones. Cheers, M
  19. Thanks for the extensive feedback. Overall the replies do make me feel better about this model. After reading one of the initial comments, I would agree that the bracelet finish may have been what the guy was referring to and why he felt it looked off. Looking back, I should have said $20 becuase it would have been better to play it that way. I did not want to deceive him and was taken aback when he asked what I paid, when he knows what the retail prices are. He either judged me and was bluffing or the brushing on the bracelet tipped him off. Guess if he did judge me, it was accurate, I in theory could buy a $7K watch but would never be in the gen market for a $15K watch. That is such a difference, that I think it is a different type of consumer. People without much knowledge would not think it is a rep becuase it is made so well, and although it means nothing the weight is so heavy most would never think fake. (for some reason the weight matters to people who know nothing about watches) Those same people likely think it cost $3K or so, as who really knows the retail value of highend watch brands. Not sure about this guy, becuase I don't know himbut my friend though in the business doesnot get paid by any Swiss company nor is authorized to sell or service them, so he doesn't care. Many watch fans are happy to chat watches with other watch fans, regardless of rep or not. He loves to try on new pieces I get, becuase it gives them a sense of what the gen would feel and look like. I have even bartered a rep to him before so he is not against wearing a rep. In all seriousness a true gen collector would be wise to purchase our reps. For a few hundred bucks they could try out a watch for a month, if they still love it after the initial joy wears off they buy the gen. I am sure there are many cases of gen disappointments that are very costly and could be avoided with such a step. Cheers, M
  20. On a Bentley anything other than croc/gator later is going to scream rep. Personally I think you need to go with a gen Breitling croc but those are understandably very pricey. The rep ones while not great in feel (plasticy) they do look the part from a foot away, go with that. Angus sells them seperately. Never known a gen Breitling owner and especially not a Breitling Bentley owner to wear a non-Breitling strap. Cheers, M
  21. So I was visting a friend that is in the watch business. Came by to show him 2 of my newer additions, AP ROO Offshore White Thames with secs at 12. And a Rolex GMTIIc IHS He had a business partner over when I came by,who noticed my watches right away. I also noticed his Gen black dial Daytona easily. My friend knows I collect reps, but this other guy did not know me. He saw the Rolex first and didn't comment, a minute later he asked to see the AP; right away he asked how much I paid - a question if gen he would not have asked- I told him 500-600 bucks and said it is a rep/copy. He said he knew that right away and the overall finish justed looked off. He looked closer and confirmed that indeed to him it was instantly recognizable as such ; told me he owned a gen AP Roo, just not the offshore and the brushing of the metal was hard to describe but much different and asked me if I ever saw a real offshore in person. I have only from feet away in cases or in pictures, never tried one on. Anyway he commented that in a million years he never would have said the Rolex was a rep, looked just like a nicesub. I think the subs don't excite him as they are so common. Rep or not he liked the new clasp on the bracelet. I tried on his daytona, which was a very sweet watch, he said he waited 6 years to be able to buy it at list. He was actually a real nice guy and knew everything about watches, we chatted about Genta designs and I confirmed later with my friend that he does own a gen AP Roo and about 200K worth of various gens. Guess he was in the watch business for 30 years but is partially retired now but still collects. Since I tend to believe this gentleman, I am asking for some advise: those of you who have seen a AP gen in person and own orhave seen the rep; is there a big difference in the overall apperance. Not talking date fonts, spacing on the dial, tach#, etc.. something that can be seen from a foot away not under a loop or with a side by side comparison? OR do you think he just felt bad when he saw a $500 version of a watch he would pay $15K for that looked very much like the real deal? OR maybe I did not come accross like someone with a $15K watch? I don't try to fool people who know watches when I am wearing a rep, but I don't like to wear I am wearing a fake watch tee shirts either if you know what I mean. Cheers, M
  22. PAM 183 for me. Went through about 4 straps, some very costly before I realized it would not work for me and I should just sell it and forget it. Certain things likedabout it,there was just something that did not work for me and no straps seemed to be the cure. Good topic, M
  23. Any 22MM strap would fit, but as previously mentioned... I have never seen a gen Breitling watch on any leather other than Breitling brand. So, unlike a PAM your Breitling rep will look like a rep for the strap alone. Breitling makes nice Calf straps and the BEST CROC straps I have ever seen or worn. If you like leather over a bracelet upgrade to a gen strap. Cheers, M
  24. phoband, Love the history lesson! Thanks for the insight. Good times, M
  25. http://cgi.ebay.com/Breitling-Chronomat-Ev...id=p3286.c0.m14 Think this lister even knows its a rep, or did he get scammed? Not even a v3, lol Cheers, M
