  1. I agree - there are some wonderful videos around - I'm in! Since seeing your post and being reminded of these wonderful things I have been trying to find a couple of Christmas videos on the tube .... so far I can't find them so if anyone out there can help, I'd sure appreciate that. here is the basic thread - they were Ad campaigns ... I think for a mobile phone carrier ... 1. Elderly lady gets off bus - a guy has her purse ... you see him running and jumping over all sorts of obstacle (with grunge-like Christmas music in the background) .... the video is all frenetic and eventually you come to think the guy has snatched the lady's purse and is feverishly running away with it ... until he sees her and stops her, only to hand her the purse which she had inadvertently left on the bus. 2. Dad is on the phone moaning to his wife that he FINALLY found the damn teddy bear their daughter wanted for Christmas ... he is carrying on how hard it was to find it and how busy everyone is and how crazy everything is blah blah blah .... all the while he has hold of the hand of his 3 yr old (?) little girl. He is distracted for just a second and she walks off toward what looks like a bundle of filth in the street that turns out to be a elderly homeless man - as the guy frantically realises she is not with him and he turns around to see where his daughter is, the camera moves in and we observe the little girl GIVE the homeless man the very teddy bear she had just received. I'd love to find these again ...
  2. I was referring to the Pantera. Other chariots in Australia like an MY03 Porsche Turbo is as much as $100K+
  3. Apart from smiling broadly that there is a Cafe in Singa's called Alps I do wish I could go along and enjoy the fellowship of other rep-watch-tragics
  4. btw they are north of $70K here
  5. What a pure unadulterated BEAST
  6. SIDE PIC SIDE PIC SIDE PIC pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaase :D :D
  7. These days I drive a Mercedes .... it is wonderful and surprisingly large. I call it "Elvis" because it has had so many hits .... we used it as a bushfire recovery vehicle post Black Saturday 2009 .... we ... umm ..... were not particularly gentle with Elvis Oh and before you all sit there in horror - the model is an MB140D van - not a 300SLR or anything remotely classy But there are a few grateful folks around here who smile and wave when they see us
  8. Regarding availability of the Glashutte rep Dear friend, sorry that this watch is out of stock . and we are not sure when it will in stock. thanks http://www.timeshops.net Sales E-MAIL: sales@timeshops.net Have a nice day ! Best Regards Lois
  9. I have this one here that was given to me by a mate's brother ... he has some kind of watch site our of Melbourne that deals in high-end stuff ... anyway, if I decide to go the Franken route and can find hands, this one may be a decent start for the Einstein one.
  10. Yeah I saw that one too thanks ... just not the same as either of the ones I am hunting for - the case size and shape is off and the 'six' isn't there on the dial etc. The hunt continues! :D
  11. Yeah I just realised it is a non-stock item at timeshops - I emailed asking if/when etc. so should get a reply by 2017
  12. I thought I recently saw a pretty accurate rep of that Glashutte
  13. "As with other Bentley models, the datewheel is a little too red though." " I can just see some Chinese watchmaker screaming "bloody Quai Lo .... you never happy!"
  14. BTW I love old gens (being one myself!) - Bogey wore Longines - Einstein, the same - love them ... I have been looking for bits OR entire LONGINES watches from that period so I can build replicas of these beauties (they are beautiful to me anyway!) love the history they represent.
  15. and for what it's worth, I think that Glashutte dial is an absolute icon of the 50's and 60's "machine age" - those numbers are wonderful. Straight out of Madmen ....oh, and stunning picture you took mate - the composition is lovely and the grouping of items really thoughtfully done! Technical question - Did you desaturate the image or are all elements basically shades of grey?
  16. .... just want to correct you on one thing - that timepiece IS a real heritage piece - brand is nothing compared to 'actual' history
  17. Thanks folks! Will be worn on the 18th of December for the first time .... looking forward to that
  18. Hey folks - thanks very much for the positive comments .... to whoever asked privately the RRP in the catalogue is a shade under 9000GBP. I stress that I AM NO PHOTOGRAPHER! Just a bloke with a camera .... albeit a good camera and professional Photoshop skills, though I didn't do that much work on these shits, just spent a fair amount of time setting each one up - they were all taken in natural light in our back yard. Camera is an Olympus DSLR and I used it with a UV shroud because the sun was so bright. (Aussie summer sun is brutal) I bought mine through timeshops .... cost was under $400US as I did their buy 5 and get discount thing. (NOT 5 of these of course!) - no box no papers etc. just bare watch, but as you all see I had bought all the other things to go with this .... it is just how I like to do things and after seeing one of the rep boxes (not Breitling) didn't trust the quality. For what it's worth, these are on the various Trusted sites for up to $600 but they seem to average around $500 so I was happy to get this one for what I did. The whole process took several months of searching and researching but for me it was worthwhile because the watch and associated items will stay with me for life, for personal reasons. BTW this watch is the Blue Dialled version, but the pics never seem to show that aspect correctly. AR may have something to do with that. The black dial version would be very close too I imagine if only for the reason that black should be fairly easy to replicate. Both the brown and white faced gens I have seen were knockouts. This is a large watch by the way and at first it put me off when I tried the gen (white dial) at the AD - but after wearing it for 10 minutes or so, it felt a lot more comfortable and sat nicely under the shirt I was wearing. The Flying B, being a homage to the Art Deco period really works for me too. As far as accuracy goes, you will have to make your own minds up - I never saw a blue or black dial before buying. If I saw the gen next to this in precisely the same configuration, maybe I would be able to find other issues, but the truth is that this is a rare version OF a rare watch to begin with so the chance of even seeing a blue faced one is remote, certainly in Australia where there's none in stock anywhere - I called around. Finally, as these were released in '07 they are getting long in the tooth, so who knows how long they'll be available for? The rep world is an unfathomable conundrum to me in that respect. Hope all this waffle helps.
  19. Hi folks Just got around to taking some pics of the new baby and thought to share them - bought a cheap version of this watch first and liked it so much that I eventually upgraded to the 1:1. The difference in cost was substantial, but so is my satisfaction and (within reason of course) isn't that what it's all about? I had already bought a box for it ,but received a Navitimer - Fighter's edition box by mistake. So I am on the lookout for a Fighters now of course! I also bought a catalogue that was meant to feature this watch but didn't - oh well ... can't have everything. Bought another box - a nice B4B with outer case, from the US. Needed some small repairs and a refurbishment of the outer case - all done within an hour of receipt Bought a further catalogue, this time with pictorial confirmation of the contents prior to payment - worked out well and included price lists. Additional purchases included: Brown Bakelite box and hang/swing tags used to price the watches. (didn't use the tags in these pics) ... just to be clear, I have no idea how accurate this watch is to the original, but I have held them side by side (except the gen had a brown dial) and couldn't tell them apart. This is not a technical review - just a member excited about his new rep. :D Enjoy!
  20. Just want to add: Though many lives were lost, the world rallied during that time and the largest NON GOVERNMENT donations in Australian history were made to the victims of those fires. Donations flowed in from around the world and for that (and many other blessings) we remain eternally grateful.
  21. Gotta love those boobys ... and on the whole 'dressing to suit my watch' idea ..... what do folks think of these? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/390337151106?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1905wt_1396
