40mm approximately. My maker takes the original crystal and uses that to set up his machine as it has to be exact or it won't fit..

Very bloody slowly. Really hard to find an engraver for what I'm doing - still the search continues. V - got myself a nice little piece of that Metta leather on it's way over to Aaron right now, can't wait!!
-
Marco - hate to tell you mines been done for ages - Got it on a nice whisky colour 24/24 strap with a Pre A logo buckle in PVD!!! One thing I am curious about is if you have removed the small lens that is on the movt covering the date. Your mag looks huge compared to mine!!

To paint that minute marker back in would be very very difficult - not for the faint hearted!!!
-
Well it's not perfect but the side profile was spot on. It was an early protoype that Davidsen sent to me for evaluation. I had to grind out the screw holes to get it to fit as his holes are smaller than normal. Not perfect but does the job!!!

This old familiar one

Just to confirm that there is no AR on the 28.

I just had a Daytona in for a fix and relume the other day and I noticed something that could be a big problem for both the asian and swiss versions. Because the Rollie does not have a date the subdial transfer gears are very neatly built into a complete new top plate which is fixed on to what would have been the top plate with 3 screws. The problem with this arrangement is that when the chrono reset button is pushed it flexes the plate very slightly and allows part of the reset mechanism to jump out and then jam the reset so that the chrono can still stop and start but no be reset. This could be easily fixed with a new screw hole.

Hope Rob does not mind me answering this but I have experience of these older Molnija's. Yes they will fit perfectly - there is nothing to be done when swapping them. The problem that you refer to is more of an issue with the current molnija as part of the keyless works often disengages from the clutch so that the watch will not wind, which means lots of assembly and disassembly and swearing. The older Molly has a screw instead of a spring loaded button to release the stem which you turn 1.5 turns to remove and is much less of a problem because of this.

Could it be that this variation is because Rolex maybe uses more than one dial maker to supply dials?

Does Anyone Know How To Take Apart A Screw Down Crown?
Finepics replied to chris5264's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I found the way to do this was to put a drop of superglue in the hole then screw in the stem quickly. The glue will not lock the sem in as the threads are too fine for it to really spread but it will freeze the spring. -
No 2 looks like it melted!! No 1 has Omega seamaster hands!!!

- Lovely job - very nice indeed.

Davidsen is indeed a top man. I will tell you that the crystal on my Honpo 187 was covered in scratches on the inside. They are not visible from the outside though.
-
The plastic ring fits into a groove in the lower edge of the bezel - then the whole thing presses onto the case. You do not need a crystal press but you do need to apply a bit of pressure.
-
Marco - that is very very nice indeed. I never cease to be amazed at the resourcefulness of our members!!

Certainly is. I offer TiALN coating which is what Panerai use on all the PVD models they make. As far as I know they have never used DLC on a production model except for some of the recent prototypes.
-
Not necessarily - the 2893 is one of the best movts ETA make. This new PAM has the potential for conversion to ETA but at extra cost. The PAM 063 GMT is a must have watch, classic Panerai.
-
Actually I have just realised that the markers are in fact welded to the bezel. If you look closely you can see oxidation marks at the edges of he markers where they have been spot welded!!! Excellent stuff!!
-
Hi Guys - sorry for not replying quickly - yes I have been busy and trying to have a life outside of reps!!! I will again enquire about the Gold Ti coating tomorrow - I had forgotten about it!! @ None - your PMs are about to be answered.
-
No Adhesive needed. The crystal is held in with a nylon "I" ring which is located in a groove in the bezel. This will stay put when you remove the old crystal so just press the new one in. make sure you line it up and press evenly.

The power reserve PAM 27 and 28 uses the ETA 2892-A2 movt which shares 95% of it's parts with the ETA 2893 movt but with a Soprod power reserve module fitted. This is far from a modification but an add on part made by another company (Soprod). This is the same as in the genuine model. I am not sure what is used in the other configurations. The 2893-2 is specifically a GMT movt. This means it is designed from the outset to have a GMT 4th hand which tracks around with the hour hand. When setting the GMT time the hand jumps around the dial. The 2836 type GMT simply has a wheel for the day as well as date and this wheel has a GMY hand fitted to it instead of the date disc - it does almost the same thing but is not fitted to the gen.

OK - that's 11 so far inc me. There are only 21 of these available so get your name down.
-
I had forgotten that and what's interesting is that it shows only one 2533 being made yet the one in the photos on this site is not the same as the one in the Panerai Museum. The crystal is damaged in this one so is it a hommage or is it genuine? Translation is needed!!!

Most PAM's are 44mm not 47mm. So you might want to think about the 40mm PAM's. The new Arktos certainly looks good - the bezel markers are now the correct shape and the asian 7750 means a swap for genuine ETA if the need arises!! Usually the asian 7750 in the P1 (they call it b1) configuration is generally reliable as there are no chrono functions (the usual source of problems in the asian 7750). The finish of the movt in my similar PAM 24 is very good - much better than I have seen before and not far off the genuine item. Conclusion - go for it, your wrist might not be as small as you think!!!
