Best Technique To Seperate A Sadwich Dial?
Finepics replied to ravishingrick's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
They are indeed glued together around the edge and in the centre. I use a long scalpel blade. -
My friend Rob sent me details of his revised prices to make his straps a little more affordable as it seems there was a lot of interest only for members to back out later because of the price (this is not really on!!). When you look at the photo just have a look at the quality of the stitching - these are very very high quality straps! So here is a revised price list - please read carefully. To put them more within the reach of some potential buyers there is now an option to have the strap without the bits'n'bobs, ie: no box, wax, certificate or pic, which is probably the way most have been purchased in the past. They will be one price for all sizes, up to 125/80 in each of the 3 main colour groups due to the increased scarcity of that colour. METTA STRAP in 22/24 or 24/24 width up to size 125/80 in: Mid Brn/brn stitch - £105 Lt Br-tan/Lt Brn stitch - £115 Black/Black stitch - £120 For different coloured stitching add - £3 26mm strap width add - £7 The certificate, box and wax etc can be purchased separately - £15 Recorded P&P within the UK - £4 International P&P - £6

One-piece Non Glued-marker Bezel For 187 Available...
Finepics replied to slay's topic in General Discussion
Actually that bezel is like the PAM 194 - very like it in fact!! -
I have not yet taken one apart but I can tell you that they are the more recent version of the asian 7750 and much much better finished. I have one in my PAM 24 and it works beautifully. Mostly it is the chrono functions that give these movts the problems ans since the chrono parts are not there problems gone!! The Zigmeister had psoted that sometimes the pallet jewels were not glued in properly (not a difficult fix). The GMT functionality will be achieved by fitting a hand to what would be the day display wheel instead of a disc with the days printed on it, which means a new gear wheel - very simple and not a cause for any concern.

Look out for a little suprise tomorrow!! You shall go to the ball!!

Sorry chaps - feeling a little unloved today!

Without seeing the hands it's difficult to say. Normally when you lume a hand it is done from the back and surface tension hold the lume in the cut-out of the hand. To paint it directly onto something is different as the get it to look neat will be a problem. The lume is like painting with honey not paint.

Did no-one notice I posted the solution!!!
-
Caseback should be the same as the Arktos 092. The hands could possibly be fixed if a certain member is inclined enough to get them made!!! This would also be a fix for the PAM 88/89 GMT hand.
-
Of course you could always lash out £10 (or about the same in $) with Cousins or O.Frei (O.frei has a huge range of hands) on a set of Omega Moonwatch sub hands (the sub hands are the same shape) and you might have it on your wrist in no time!!! You would need to call Cousins/O.Frei and check the Omega hand post size (which for the Valjoux 7750 is 0.18mm). If the Omega hands do not fit then O.Frei has generic hands (almost the right shape) at the bottom of the page here: http://www.ofrei.com/page965.html

It's certainly not a Daylight. There are only two lines of text on the dial, the daylight has three lines. If this is a 40mm PAM then it will be the PAM 74 as the 72 came with a steel bracelet.

Looks like the 196 Daylight.

One-piece Non Glued-marker Bezel For 187 Available...
Finepics replied to slay's topic in General Discussion
What a pile of crap that looks nothing like the gen - thank god they don't make them in one piece!! The Honpo version has the markers screwed on from under the bezel (just like the gen). The real problem with the Honpo version is the markers are made of copper then chrome plated. If you scratch or scrape them the copper will shine through. It is also not advisable to polish them either!!! The cheaper 187 has better finished markers (not so tall and with the correct rounded edges) but stuck on with glue and not sure if they are steel or copper!!! The markers on the rep in the pic are totally the wrong shape. -
Phobaby sure is cute - congrats!!
-
Maybe we should add a gen owners section - that would confuse the Paneraisti!!!

Thanks for those kind words Marco. Actually this project spurred me on to create another special for myself which I will be posting details soon!!!

Pam204 Wempe Radiomir Special Edition - Manual Lemania
Finepics replied to trustywatchguy's topic in General Discussion
You will find this is because they already have these cases made to suit the older 163 rep. You have to remember that the makers are not out to necessarily make an absolute perfect rep. Often so long as it is close enough they will sell. Personally I like this watch as the chrono pusher is easier to live with than the missing date in the 163 and the dial looks a whole lot nicer as well. Looking at the case I doubt it is possible to change the pushers as the recess for the top pusher is too big. One thing that I will be doing when mine arrives (yes I have ordered one!!) is to remove the blue from the screws - that will make a big difference. Of course the movt in this rep is the reliable Seagull T19 which should give good accuracy/reliability. -
No pics as of yet as they have not been printed. Realistically we are still looking at a few weeks I would think. Sorry that it's taking so long but those of you following this will know why. Price for this will be about $55 inc postage (not including fitting). They are not difficult to fit if you have experience of stripping this movt!! @js4tda - These are not for the PAM 222 - sorry. Also several PAM's seem to be fitted with a crystal that has a built in cyclops so not sure if the 222 can be changed.

Olreon - no problem, there should be just enough.
