Pt Raffel Prize From July Week 2 Pictures
Finepics replied to marinamm20's topic in The Panerai Area
Yes the older type had the longer tube on the hands to compensate for tht shorter pinion - but whilst they ahve fitted the taller pinion they have not cahnged the hands!!! Just file that min hand tube down to .44mm and you will not have a recessed pin!!! The engravings were never glued onto the ETA modded movt - that was only on the original ETA 6497 without the modded bridge plates and on the China 6497. The winding gears on this new movt are certainly much better than ever before but the teeth still need to be polished! -
Someone See The New Panerai From Puretime

You are just plain pathetic - which is why I have to have this as well!!! Just ordered mine too!! -
The crown is sprung which allows for the movement. I have used the rep Molnija stem directly in the 616 in my latest project and it works fine. I admit it was an accidental discovery as my last 616 conversion I had the Cort stem re-threaded for the winding crown and this time I only fitted the Moly stem temporarily but was suprised to see that it worked perfectly. The stems are not identical but it will work.

This is the most appropriate answer here - it's the rep board community that has grown to large. The longer term members amongst us are now having to repeat ourselves over and over to provide answers to the newer members who do not do as thorough a job of researching this as they should. I get fed up of answering the same questions again and again. Most of us know that a fake is a fake. It is made as cheaply as possible to maximise the profits for the makers. The makers may very occasionally listen to our gripes and maybe change a small detail or two in subsequent versions of a given model (but only in the case where sales of that model have significantly dwindled). The makers are not in the least bit interested in us the customer so long as we buy the damn things. If we want accuracy and aftersales service then buy the gen. The only good thing is that our trusted dealers here do at least care about us and will give us good customer service.

It is not ETA - it is asian 7750.

I'm sorry if I'm being impatient and I understand the problems you might have with customs controls - yes I am lucky being in the UK. It's the things like the post after this that bothers me - "How finicky is the chrono on the new 7750's? Can I run it all the time." Look this is a fake watch with a new layout of the 7750 - no-one knows how well it will run as this is the first time we have seen this configuration of the 7750 so until we have the watch on our wrist we will not know. Why would you leave the chrono counter running all the time? All this does is to lessen the power reserve of the watch (and this would be exactly the same situation with the gen). The reason the hands are a bit jerky is because a gen ETA 7750 has elipsoidal cut teeth on the chrono gears and going train and this gives a smoother tick. The rep movts don't have the same level of finish as a gen 7750 so they will not be a smooth and they are not going to improve with oiling or age - that is unfortunately the nature of a fake movt! We all of us know the general reliability of the asian 7750 which can be good and can be crap (even the new so called 7750b1). It will not matter if there is a date or not as to the operation of the winding crown - the date change mechanism is very simple and has no bearing on the general running of the movt.

Davidesens crown is bigger so will not fit the existing tube - the ONLY way to do this properly is to get Palp/PAM's crown which fits the rep crown tubes perfectly but might need a new stem (the original will be too short as the threaded hole in Palps crown is longer) to finish the job. Stems only cost about $5 so not a problem.
-
Sssshhhh - yes it does fit!! Not perfect but it does work. Better is to have the Cort stem re-threaded down to fit the crown but not essential.

[censored] man just get the friggin watches and stop all this pussying around - who gives a [censored] if it is EMS, FED EX etc etc etc blah blah blah - a week already just to decide if the QC is ok or the shipping is ok - good grief!!! All of us know the score well enough to not have to ask all these ridiculous questions - noobs just have to trust us. Get on with it!!!!!

Chronus you have been smokin too many drugs man!! The 127 is not an RXW whichever way you look at it!! The RXW could not be further from the 127 if it tried. The 127 Panerai is a limited edition watch from 2003. They made 1950 of them, it is modelled on the 6152 type watch that Panerai made in the 1950's for the Egyptian navy and hence called the "1950". So the gen (as you should well know by now) is the 47mm case with the G series movt, a display back and domed sapphire crystal. Who cares if the caseback crystal is mineral or sapphire so long as it is see through. All of the 127's that are in the $250 + price range have a sapphire front crystal with an ETA modified PAM G series movt, they are one of the most accurate out of the box reps but need a lume job a cannon pin fix (plus Davidsens hands) to finish the job!! An AR coat is an optional extra but for the price the 127 Fiddy is still a lot cheaper with all the mods than an RXW (which is not a fiddy but a stylised fiddy that is 3 x the price).

The tube on the underside of the minute hand need filing down to .44mm. I find that an emery board for doing your nails works very well and cheaper than a file!! The hour hand stays as it is.

Sorry - my inbox was full - just had a bit of a clear out so send the PM again and I will answer tonight.
-
Absolutely my friend - it's the only way to go!!
-
Ditto ditto ditto - well done Mrs Andrew (as she did all the work!!).
-
To fit the Lello crown you had to remove the raised lip around the crown tube. Don't be too obsessed with getting the crown absolutley flush against the case and it will be more difficult to grip when pulling out to adjust the time. Davidsens crown will mean you have to fit a new crown tube as well - not the best idea.

That's the stuff alright!!

That really makes me laugh. Do you think that Jay inspects every watch before they are sent out? Do you think that Jay even sees the watch before they are sent out. The deal is this - Jay will make a deal with his favourite wholesaler to purchase say XXX watches for $xxx then sell them on to us for $xxx - if there is a difference between $xxx and $xxx then he makes a good profit and we get the watch for a good price - we are happy. But if we went to Ghuangzhou and bought a watch directly from one of the hundreds of wholesalers there we might also get a much better price than our dealers would get them for. Our dealers act as the conduit between the factories, the wholesalers and the customer. Why else is it that a dealer in Thailand or Hong Kong sells us a watch that ships from China!!!!! There is no quality control so quit babbling and either be in or out - simple!!! No insult intended to Jay or any other dealer but they are only in business to make money - nothing else!
-
They are all the same except the Honpo version.
-
I'm still in.
-
I would not even attempt it with this - you will have all sorts of problems, it's not straight forward even with the right 240 movt.
-
I only use FF (IE is open to hackers) and the same problem - slooow.

Sure is the new movt - nice - needs a lume job though!! Tell you what is strange - in the first pic of the balance wheel and regulateur notice that the pallet fork bridge plate is a single curved arm with single screw. The normal plate has two screws and was a symmetrical shape as in this pic of a gen movt: I wonder if this is an ETA design change. Also the movt has serial numbers and the ETA stamp under the balance wheel but no 6496 markings. Also the new movt has the proper shaped balance wheel spokes so I wonder if there is a mix of asian 6497 parts with the ETA parts? It's definitely ETA but these differences are a bit odd. This movt also comes with the correct height cannon pinion so that minute hand needs a shaving down to remove the recess. -
I was looking at the gens in Harrods Fine watch dept today - small aren't they!!! (speaking as a PAM fan that is).
-
Dude - its obviously time for you to have a finepics plexi crystal for this!! I have just looked in my parts box and found my original crystal so could make you one without you needing to send me your watch!! PM me.

It sounds like something has come adrift in the keyless works - certainly fixable.
