  1. I'm interested in this. Ofrei have 2 bezels - 082Su1360 AND 1361. Difference in the diameter. I had always thought the SMP and SMP cronos had the same diameter, so was surprised to see 2 bezel options. I have a standard SMP, originally from PT in the UK I believe. It's the standard diameter. So can anyone explain why there are 2 bezel sizes available, and which is the right one for the standard SMP. And for the change, is just a gen bezel necessary, or do you need any other parts ? And - is Mr Repaustria available in general for this mod. or are there other people avaable to contact ?????
  2. On the last pic you can see 951 engraved on the left lug link. The right one isn't too visible. Also same pic you can see the 8******** number engraving - image is not clear, but it's obvious there is an engraving. Omega symbol has the turned up legs. Number and date fonts are same as my UPO. Looks like a UPO - just with a duff movement.
  3. I'm in for minimum 1 black background. Depending on final cost etc maybe 2.
  4. thanks gents. I'd hoped that a full case could be modded to hold a mid sized movement. However I guess also the distance between the cannon pin and the datewheel would be different to a full size, meaning the date wouldn't sit in the window properly. So I'm gonna hunt for a good rep, or a deal on a second hand gen. Cheers anyway
  5. Ye Gods. How many people do you have there typing 4 u Ms. 'Strap' ? TBC
  6. Gracias 'tio' !! Un pelin fuerte para una se
  7. Hola. Eso era para mi o tu amigo Stephane ? Que tal por ahi ? Una cosita bonita; Cuando con 'C'.
  8. Spanish speaking Brit (Scots) based close to the Med. I can help also if you want.....
  9. Hi all. Remember - be nice ! Open question to the experts. I have a blue mid size SMP from 1997 - gift at the time. Unfortunately with the change in my tastes, I find it just too small now, so it gets no wrist time. This is a shame since it was a present from my loved one. I since bought a gen black face full size SMP, and have a few reps. However in her honour I'd like to be able to wear the blue SMP, but it's just too small. I was wondering if a transplant of the movement to either a full size gen case and bracelet (plus all the bits) was possible, or if not to a full rep 'skin' but to the best possible condition. That way I'd have the heart of what she gave me, but in something more pleasing wrist wise. Checked with Omega and they said they don't do, but not possible anyway as the movement wouldn't fit the bigger case. So - any thoughts on this??
  10. Cheers but already starting to panic. PT has advised he'll source a complete bezel. I tried Pugs tutorial on removing the bezel - thought I'd practice a bit first. An lo and behold - impossible to shift the bugger. No gaps at all to even get a razor blade in there for leverage. :-(
  11. thanks Baltic. But the saga continues - I'd found these. BUT these have the pearl incorporated into the insert: The UPO has the pearl in the bezel, and the insert just has a wee hole that fits over. This e,bay item is the same construction as a gen (or apparently a 42mm 4th generation). But the UPO has a different set-up, so this wouldn't fit. Another member has confirmed that gen bezels won't fit UPO, (following some attempts to do so) so any replacements based on a gen construction and dimension will also NOT fit a UPO. That said, Mr Precious is hunting for a complete bezel, as my watch lost both the insert AND the pearl (all that's left is a green mushy stain). C'est la vie.......then I'll have to have a go at Captain Pugwashes explanation of how to remove and re-fit the bezel (which I am sure will mean my needing to end up buying a complete b****y new watch...)
  12. I'm based in Spain, although originally North of the border. No - no regular watchsmith. I've not gone into extensive modding etc. First attempt was SuperLume work on 2 PAM's with Finepics. I received them - excellent work - but it was a wee struggle. If you think you can help anymore, PM me or I can PM contact details.
  13. excellent write-up. I should have taken note at the time......and I didn't. well - as before - all remains is to find a solution. You're not a repairer / modder are you? If yes PM me ?
  14. well that's good news then isn't it.......f**k. Q. That picture you've posted is from your own experience, or you've found it somewhere else ? My UPO looks the same except minus even the pearl...... I'm no good at modding / repairs, so I guess I have to try to find a kind European based hand to help on this.
  15. Hi Pug. Business trips the UPO (same as yourself, although currnetly it's injured) or PAM196 (7753 with lume job) on BOB black gator. Occasionally a PAM127. But I find it's too big for buz. trips and looks wrong. Holidays - Seamaster pro (gen black face) and a PAM - 196, 250 or 127.
  16. Thanks Pug. Why would they use water based glue ????? Anyway - the search is on to find parts / someone to help re-build the damn thing. Seen inserts with pearls on the bay, but i'm not sure of them. Someone said you need to change the whole bezel, not just the insert. I dunno - not an expert. I just want to get my deloved UPO back in order...... Any more offerings of advice and best course of action ??
  17. Cheers Andy. I'm in contact with a collector - the original source of the watch. Inserts available but without the pearl..... states that the pearl is part of the bezel. However there's only a green mush left in the bezel where the pearl maybe should have been. So - I'm looking for a bezel insert with pearl, or a complete bezel. And i've no idea if removing the bezel will be a nightmare or not...... CAN ANYONE HELP WITH PARTS ?
  18. Well - to add to my adventures with my 45mm UPO. Saturday at the beach with family and kids. The beautiful med. Swimming and fun in the water, I'd decided to wear my waterproofed UPO. It had been on an outing and survived perfectly, so why not repeat. However after the first dive, I noticed my UPO was missing something. The bezel insert and pearl....... Now ----- how can that happen ? SO I'm now missing a black bezel and pearl insert. Anyone have a spare they'd be up to selling ??
  19. All good stuff. I received a Silix strap with 1.5mm springbars supplied. Result - gap to case and it popped out. Looked rubbish. Changed to 1.8mm springbars (22mm wide). The holes had to have all the crap cleaned out because the 1.8mm's simply could not pass through. Result - gap to case and it popped out. Looked rubbish. Why no difference - because the strap is too short in the contact area. It's missing some rubber - you can see the metal insert inside because it's not properly covered. Having done a few sketches on this, I think that the problem is the mould quality on these straps, not simply changing to 1.8mm springbars. If the strap was moulded too short, it's missing material. From the centre of the hole to the contact face, that distance is too short. Hence gap and hence popping out. If it's just a little too short (say 0,1 - 0,2mm) then a thicker springbar moves the contact face a fraction closer. That may be enough to give the appearance that it now fits OK. But if it's too short - like mine (even with 1.8mm springbars there's a 1mm gap to the watch case) then regardless of the springbar, it'll never fit properly. it's simply missing material. This can happen due to the mould they're using, or the moulding process. Not injecting enough rubber, not vulcanising long enough, or when it cools it shrinks too much. Process calculation error... Production process quality issue .......! Who want's to visit the moulder then ? Summary - I think it's hit or miss between what strap you receive and how it ended up after moulding, and the watch you're fitting to.
  20. went to a jeweler and had real 1,8mm springbars fitted. And the problem remains - it's really obvious the strap is lacking rubber on the front contact face. I'm trying to contact where it came from to see if a replacement can be organised....if not I give in. too much of a headache.
  21. A fellow Scot, with a picture pointing a gun at me. Could only be Glasgow. (I'm an east coaster and no quips about fur coats and knickers please......). Pics is a problem but I'll have a go at home. But I agree - I think it's a manufacturing fault as the contact face is not totally covered in rubber. What there is looks a bit thin. I've sent a PM to where I got it from before deciding what to do. Hopefully it's a case of getting a replacement. The springbars I got look to be the standard thin ones, not 1.8mm as I'd thought (I've them with me and I've been playing with calipers). So I'll call into a jewelers this pm to c if they have anything more robust. Even if I get it to fit and not wobble, I'm dubious over the inserts being exposed re. future corrosion........I go swimming in the sea over here coz it's hot.
  22. Just received the infamous rubber strap for my UPO, with the 1,8 upgraded springbars. Tried fitting last night and found a problem. The strap has over-moulded links at the top where it fits to the case, but the rubber hasn't moulded all the way over so parts of the inserts are exposed. Also the bottom ridge which sits under the case is very slight and not really pronounced. Result - when fitted the straps pop out easily from the case side, bending down (actually nearly flopping down). My question to those who have received these straps, is whether anyone else has found this ? Anyone else received one where you can see the link insert ? To me it's missing about 1 -1,5mm of rubber on the contact face, plus a bigger bottom ridge - that would close the gap and give a snug fit, and stop it flopping down. YES it is a UPO (bought from PT). Strap has come from the famous forum source..... IF someone else has had this, what did they do ? Return the strap or effect some fix? Thanx all.......and be nice......
  23. Yes - 168.1682 is the case number. I'm pretty sure all 45.5mm PO's share the same crown and tube. So without being an expert, I'd guess the gen items would fit. I'm sure someone out there will correct me - I had tried to find out if gen crown and tube fits a UPO (mine is declared ETA 2836-2)
