  1. A hobby yes.... But if someone advertises offering a professional service, for which you pay, then it becomes a more formal transaction with inferred responsabilities. Not trying to get heavy, or slate J in his time of loss, but the communication and return problems seem to have started some time before he posted over his family loss. And in any event, there is still the base of a business-like transaction (albeit illicit) and so the corresponding responsabilities. Rant over - lets all hope that J starts to close pending issues quickly and successfully. I don't detract from his loss in any way. However seems no-one has heard anything new recently as in a return on the way. Fingers crossed ......I sent him an e.mail on Monday and still got no reply. So we must assume his personal situation is complicated, but here's hoping he returns quickly to cover his responsabilities here.
  2. There's also the new Co Ax black 'Bond' SMP in 2 formats. 1 - Black PO type dial (no waves), black bezel 'Bond SMP' number size and font, 007 on the seconds hand, skeleton hands, and metal rings round hour markers. Personally I don't like it.... 2 - Classic SMP type dial (waves) but black, black bezel, skeleton hands, no 007 on seconds, and metal rings round the hour markers. So basically the original style SMP, but in black. I like - for me a direct competitor to the Submarinar/Sea Dweller. Check them out and also in an AD before deciding blue or black SMP. I have a gen Black SMP but not the Bond type - sword hands, larger number font on the bezel - and also a gen 45.5mm PO with bracelet and rubber strap. More recently I wear the PO on rubber most, but I'll probably change back to steel in winter. The SMP gets much less wear now, but it does come out the box 1-2 times per month.
  3. Would be a pleasure to find a way to be there too. Or as Jarpo said - very welcome in Spain too.
  4. Taking my own advice to hand - have tried. Voicemail....
  5. Any one tried phoning him yet? His number is on the AR service sheets he asks to be completed and returned. As he's had such good press for so long, I can't help thinking that something genuine has happened, rather than this be a scam. Sent him another 'pleading for news' email today......no response so far........ Feels like a Finepics episode all over again.....
  6. Too many members not having had any response to e.mails for weeks now. Last I heard was aroud 14th September, when I was told the crystal had been done but needed to go back as it wasn't OK. So was being repeated. But I'd been told back towards 2nd/3rd week of July that the crystal had come back and that the other work was being done. So strange that the crystal QC problem was discovered later. I've sent a couple of friendly mails each week to get some kind of repsonse, and even suggested he post here to calm people down. Nothing.... All very odd, from a trusted member. reminds me of the Finepics episode the other year. In the end everything worked out OK for most people, but it was +5 months of nerves for all (in some cases over a year...). I really hope J posts here, or replies to people to explain what's happening and that all is OK.
  7. I laughed....then I cried (bit strange in the office)...then I laughed again. Now I'm just scouring the 'FOR SALE' areas ...... just in case.....
  8. the waiting is a killer...... nearly at 3 months now, and no reply's since +2 weeks.....
  9. There's a thread on this in RG talking about this watch and the detail differences between REP and GEN. Eg: Gen has recessed subdials, and the rep has a flat dial. The position of the inner bezel printing (TACHY...etc) is not quite right Caseback is wrong Gen crono seconds seems to be black, not silver like the REP. Other than that, general opinion seems to be it's pretty nice if you don't mind those flaws. To me, regardless of the flaws, it looks very nice as a watch. Superlume job and it would be very wearable.
  10. A Scot living in Spain (came here 14 years ago for 18 months and got......sidetracked! Woke up last week with a local wife and 2 kids - where did they come from ?????). Used to work in Automotive, but now in another industrial sector. Corporate Purchase Manager for a big local group....
  11. watch away now for +2 months. My last contact was last Wednesday, and no replies to the couple of questions I sent after... I guess he's overloaded for now. Fingers crossed everything works out OK, as J has such good press.
  12. Never had any direct contact, but I've always enjoyed your posts and your writing style. It always amazes me how some people suddenly hit a wall of total chaos as their life seems to totally change, and those same few seem to manage to come through. I truly hope that you manage to overcome what has happened, and find your way to reconstructing things so that you're on your chosen track and better for it. All the best. And looking forward to 'reading you'.
  13. OK - great. So what's happening with my watch - the PAM250. Several e.mails sent......hope all is OK.
  14. Strange then, as I can't get any reply from him....... Fingers crossed.....
  15. Anyone know if J is on holiday or something? Have a watch there since 2 months, and not getting any replies to any e.mails last few days. Thanx
  16. Hola Fleed - so 'The Relumer' is on board. Welcome and have fun - great people here and very good information.
  17. Watchsmith said when he went to re-assemble, he went by the diameter of the tube with respect to the hand hole dia. And without forcing, the layout that fitted had the small hand at 9. Having corrected him, he's advised that in trying to re-assemble correctly a tube has burst. He's a replacement comming and will re-assemble to the right layout this week. He also made some observations over the swiss 7753 movement - " looks like a 7753, smells like a 7753. Maybe even tastes like a 7753. All the parts are the right shape and size. BUT he wouldn't swear blind it was a SWISS 7753, as the finish of the parts was nothing like he'd seen before.........." Have our Chinese friends managed to make a Swinese 7753 - something unheard of in the past.......wouldn't put it past them.....
  18. thanks Bruce. That's what I thought and have instructed him to fit. Hope no-one else finds something different.....
  19. This probably sounds really silly.....but.... I've a swiss 7753 196 Daylight at a watchsmith for a movement complete service, and we've a doubt over re-fitting the subdial hands. 2 hands are the same size; one is smaller. From pics and memory I tend that the 2 same, bigger ones are for subdials at 3 and 9, and the slightly smaller one of for 6. But he feels the 2 bigger ones are for the crono functions 3 and 6, and the smaller one for seconds at 9. I know this is daft, but I really can't remember and am not sure from all the pics I've been checking the last days. He re-builds in a day or so, so can anyone settle things. I told him - 3 and 9 the same, and 6 the smaller one. Am I wrong?????
  20. Hmm - looks like scratches round the seconds area. That's fixable?
  21. Really people - HEELLLLPPPPP.... No spares????
  22. Just acquired a 183G Radiomir. And whilst wearing I've noticed today it's now missing a lug screw.... anyone have a spare or know where to get the wee buggers?? And what's the solution to stop them falling out, but still let you be able to change a strap....?? Cheers
  23. Hi. Nice pieces. Is the PAM250 a 7753 or 7750? Can't tell over the depth of the DW from the pic. Also - have you changed the DW as the font looks like the correct one, not the standard ETA type. Cheers
  24. OOps. Appologies - had taken J-C at his word and hadn't picked up his joke..... Here's hoping this gets sorted out quick in the forums. It will be a real shame if it does turn out to be our man here and in RG... Appologies to Admin, Mods and all for my misleading wrong pick-up of the real content......and thanks for the quick correction Fish.
