    Wabbit.

    That is brilliant Ken ...
  2. Condemore welcome to the forum. Until you posted your pics I had only seen photos of this watch with a stainless steel bracelet and dismissed it outright as boring. But seeing your photo with the rubber strap has inspired me to reconsider this BM. I am going to pop over to Josh's site and check it out further. Thanks for posting. Cheers
  3. Welcome ... come often .. as to recomendations of sellers . Have a look at the wares of the collectors in the Collectors section of the forum. Cheers
  4. Welcome aboard ... come often and share what you know .. Cheers
  5. Wow that was quite the injury. I am glad that there will not be permanent damage. be well soon. Cheers
  6. This is an entertaining place full of very knowledgeable people who lack the pretensions of a Timezone. The quality of postings is usually high and members are willing to share what they know without reservation. The member's generosity has been shown in that they are willing to reach out and help others not just with what they know but with what they have financially. This all goes to making RWG into more than a forum ... it is a community and that is something worthwhile. RWG is a place that is worth coming to every day. I learn something valuable about this rep hobby every day. The collective knowledge here has taken me from helpless noob to being able to make my own Frankens. That knowledge was offered with no charge even though it is invaluable. RWG is my kind of place.
  7. That is good Dani .... I am happy for you.. Cheers
  8. That new strap bumps the look and value of that watch up a long way. ... what a beauty.
  9. Hope to see you around again ... cheers
  10. You have done a great job there .... that Datejust is tops. .. If you ever think you may want to part with it I am sure that the number of buyers that show up wanting it will be large. Cheers
  11. Well done ... pointy crown guards are a rarity
  12. His work is technically correct as would be expected of an engineer though it lacks the style of an artist. The hands are just plain stupid looking and the dial is goofy. He really could have achieved a beautiful watch to with its technical correctness if he had help with the dial, hands and watch face. While technically correct the watch's look does nothing for me. It lacks a soul.
  13. Simple elegance is how I would describe it ... very nice indeed .. Cheers
  14. Yes the all stainless with the silver gen dial I posted and that I linked to on Andrew's site does have the engraved rehaut. I can not remember if the two tone with the gen Rolex anniversary dial definately did or did not. However, I do not think it did. As a point of interest I tried to put a gen Rolex Daydate dial on a Daydate rep I purchased from Ruby but the day window at the top would not align correctly. The date at three aligned but the day was way off and I just could not get the dial to work. I also tried to put a gen Rolex dial on a Datejust I purchased from Wackobirdkeeper that came with an cheap Asian movement but the dial would not align with the date at three at all. It was like the Daydate. What does all this mean to anybody wanting to go the gen dial route with a Datejust rep. Avoid Asian movements. Stick to the 2836-2 movement Datejust in a modern case from Andrew or Josh. Also, a Gen Rolex Daydate dial will not fit an ETA movement. Cheers
  15. I do not subscribe to the by the book approach. If you have a case / dial combo you like go for it. I used to have an early 1960's Rolex Oysterdate Precision manual wind that came with all stainless case, bezel and crown and had a black dial with gold markers and gold hands. Rolex sold this watch this way. Pictures are plenty on the internet which can give you an idea of how yellow gold markers and hands look on a all stainless Datejust. My favorite Datejust models are the acrylic crystal versions. Having owned several versions of Datejust I have finally settled on the kind I like best. Here are my two gens: And a couple I used to own but have since sold: And a couple of Tudors I once owned:
  16. This one came from Trusty / Andrew... here is the watch. The movement is a 2832-2 ... I glued the dial to the movement holder ring after removing the dial feet. The advantage of gluing the dial to the ring is that it can be set in place and perfectly aligned and then the movement clamps lock the dial and movement together in place. I have done this on more than one occasion with a gen Datejust dial mounted to a 2836-2 movement in a modern rep case. I just completed a purchase of another silver dial with Roman markers and am going to build an all stainless with white gold bezel franken in a gen case. I have obtained a movement holder ring that will mount a 2836-2 movement into a Rolex 16014 case. When completed I will post photos. Datejust from Andrew Here is another Datejust modern rep case I put a Genuine Datejust dial into.... I no longer have this watch as I have 2 gen Two Tone Datejusts and found I was not wearing this two tone at all.... I passed it on to DaveNYC. It also originally came from Trusty / Andrew. The movement is also s 2836-2 and also I glued the dial to the movement holder ring after removing the dial feet. So you see a gen Datejust dial can be mounted to a 2836-3 movement into a rep case and it will fit perfectly. Good luck if you decide to try it and if you do please share your experience and pictures. Cheers
  17. Silver Gen Datetust dial in a modern rep case.
  18. $129.00 U.S. for a Concord C1 in 18k gold when the site states the MSRP as $5,109.30. Do you really have to ask if this is legit? Go ahead and send your money and see what you will get from them. If they don't rip you off you will get a rep ... of what quality? It is too good to be true. Now that you have been told the truth ... have a look as some of the collector sellers here ... they will not rip you off.
  19. Reps have been good to me .... I receive a lot of enjoyment from owning facsimiles of some of the most interesting and beautiful watches made. The money I spend on reps is the portion of my income known as "my money for me". I have always had a "my money for me fund" as has my wife. We each are free to use as we please without having to justify how it is spent. Before I was a fiend for gens especially Rolex Datejusts and spent far more than I do today on watches. So in my case the rep world has been good to me.
  20. At my peak gen ownership I owned and wore 4 different Rolex Datejusts, 1 Rolex Oysterdate, a solid 18k Gevril Chrono and a Tudor giant Daydate, A solid 18k Tudor date. Wore these on rotation for many years. I sold off all of my collection save one TT Datejust and the TT Oysterdate. I intend to give these to my son and daughter as graduation gifts. I was asked on occasion if my watches were genuine .... that is part of owning a Rolex or a solid gold watch. Wear what ever you want and be happy. In the end you won't take them with you. Cheers
  21. The gen utilizes a Trip-Lock Crown for all Subs including the TT. Here is a link to the Rolex Web site with the info on the Sub Trip-Lock crown. Cheers Rolex.com about Sub Crown
  22. In the end as long as you are satisfied it does not matter what we think. I started with Rolex gens and sold off most and then moved into reps ... just the reverse of you and I am happy with my collection and the money I have saved which is many thousands of dollars... enjoy your collection
  23. Hello Buddy ... Summer is happening great with temps in the high 20's Celsius which is the high 80's for people using Fahrenheit. It is wonderful golfing in the warm weather. That is spot on good news ... any time there is the chance to talk rather than fight it is always good. How about the Israelis ... any thoughts on them? I tend to believe that they are ready to go any time now and they do have a history of taking action.
  24. I expect Israel to make its move on Iran and the U.S. is moving in to act as backup. The Israelis do not fool around when they feel threatened. Any Arab retaliation will be dealt with by a U.S. show of strength and support for Israel. It will happen this year unless Iran somehow stops its nuclear program.
  25. Perhaps something like this will help to workout fitting a movement in the case Retro-fit ETA 2824-2 movement to ROLEX 3035 case Or this Retro-fit ETA 2892-A2 movement to ROLEX 3135 case The big question I have is which Rolex model's case will you make?
