  1. Coffee is my personal pick me up energy drink.
  2. I have wanted to see some non-dealer photos of that dial. I think I now like that one best ahead of the white dial. Very nice watch. Could you post some photos of the other ones you have. Two thumbs up for your Datejust
  3. I have owned a few gen Datejusts and the two newer ones with Roman style markers had no lume. I owned a 2001 Pyramid dial and a 1999 Rhodium dial. The older stick marker dial versions had a dot of lume as described by Tee Jay. The Datejust comes with many dial options. There are dial version where Roman markers are printed on the dial and the face is like an old clock and these dials have no lume. I have seen factory diamond dials at authorized dealers that also lack lume. With the Datejust it is difficult to generalize with accuracy.
  4. Amazing photos of a quality watch. The Wm9 sub is really good to begin with never mind after those mods. A great and special watch to own. Enjoy it for years to come.
  5. Price is not an indication of quality.
  6. I think custom also refers to something no longer made up of original parts not just something made to order. A custom watch can be made on spec with the intention being to put it into the inventory for general sale with no specific buyer having ordered it or something like it. Composite is a fine option too.
  7. That is a great one TeeJay. It has an excellent sound to it ...compare : "this is a Franken Datejust" TO "this is a custom Datejust" .... I am onboard with this one.
  8. I would have to go with the Rolex Explorer 1 reps as the best out of the box. As somebody said before me even the cheaper Cn movement version comes with a good case and bracelet, The dial and hands are the weak link on most Rolex reps so if put beside a gen the Exp 1 rep will be outed. As a stand alone rep they are good. Build a Franken with only a gen dial and hands and the Exp 1 is then really very good.
  9. I think that would make it for me ... excellent idea.
  10. I am closer to pulling the trigger on a Milgauss and a DD II and then doing the bracelet swap. If it fits I could have an accurate rep.
  11. I was referring to the rep bracelets and not the Gen bracelets. So far Angus, Josh and Andrew only show Jubilee bracelets and no Oyster bracelets on their Datejust II offerings. I thought perhaps that the bracelet from the Milgauss 40mm may fit and I have been considering picking up another 40mm Milgauss for the Oyster bracelet and swapping it onto a Datejust II but the Datejust II is 41mm and there is a possibility it may not fit. No TT Datejust II reps yet just all stainless so far.
  12. No oyster bracelet means no deal for me. I would go for the the all stainless version but will wait to see if an oyster bracelet version comes out later.
  13. Congrats on a your first give into the pool ..... you picked a good one.
  14. Relax and enjoy the experience .. my own personal experience with buying reps in Asian and having them shipped to me in Canada is 100% trouble free in the past three years with over 20 purchases. In Canada interdiction and prosecution is reserved for the rep sellers. Cheers
  15. I have Ferrari Chrono in RG ... it has worn very well with no wear spots. As to color it is slightly lighter than the gen but this is only noticeable if they are side by side. As stated above the plating is not actual gold. I would recommend this rep if you like the style. Cheers
  16. Yes, I have removed a cyclops but from an Invicta. Same idea though ... make it fit my desired look. Also have put a generic Breitling Pilot style band on a Omega Speedmaster. It looks like it belongs and dresses up the watch significantly more than than the original.
  17. The rep is out with a ceramic bezel but has many flaws. I purchased one in spite of the obvious miscues and still love the watch. The dial and bezel are off color from the gen and if you look closely they are off color from each other. The bezel insert is some ceramicish material and the numbers are too thin. The crown guards are huge but all that considered I would rather have this rep than not. I purchased it from Ajoe and it was a watch he bought but did not want to keep. I think it will satisfy the craving for a blue sub if you really want blue but otherwise no. Here is a wrist shot.
  18. Well done ... I have always admired this rep.
  19. Why not go with an inexpensive Gen watch ... a quartz chronograph would have working chrono functions and they would be able to wear the watches with no concern of embarrassment.
  20. Wearing my Blue Smurf Sub today
  21. Great topic ... I have wondered about this myself.
  22. RWG equals knowledge for me. All of my still very limited knowledge of watches has come from this forum. If the gen forum members knew what what knowledge was availabe here they would be very shocked.
