  1. Hello A As far as I remember, Vac does not do the jewel mod. He could have added this mod to his list of offerings recently but I would not know about that. Domi does the 3 jewel mod, on all the transfer gears, and Goin does the jewel mod on the final gear. I would not recommend Goin for this mod though. He messed up and destroyed the plate on my watch after doing the mod. It caused the watch not to run at all! For Vac, no experience with him in this regard, and I do not have intention to use him. I would recommend the ETA mainspring mod over the jewel mod, A. You should have some first-hand experience about how the mainspring mod improves a watch.. OK so back to the question, and my 2 cents: Unless I see it physically, I would not take it for granted that Vac does, or did jewel mods on any sec@12 A7750 watches (namely ROO reps). Nor would I believe that he does ETA mainspring replacements, for reasons known clearly to you and me.

  3. You and Folex are AP experts and you both always like to claim otherwise. I love this forum and all the humble people.
  4. I see that you are humble as well. Yes FINALLY in that pic, I saw the frustrating "white borders"... finally.
  5. Ah yes, I knew you would turn up sooner or later master folex. While you are here, why don't you give the real expert opinion on the needed mods? Help a friend and nice member out.
  6. women can be temperamental. But only fools suffer such temperaments without good reason.
  7. I have a red second hand on my franken DSSD and was the first to post such a combination here on RWG. The idea came from watchfreund who sold me the watch. Definitely breaks up the grey/black monotony! Your DSSD definitely looks stunning, could do with some platinum paint mod on the insert? Kudos to SSteel and you for completion of this project!
  8. I would consider myself more a fan than an expert. Speaking on the dial, I did notice a difference in the "shine and gloss" factor between the gen and the rep. The gen is simply more glossy in finish. I have not done the mod myself, nor have I come across someone who has done it to be honest. But straight off my head, I was wondering if a layer of lacquer would work? I considered wax of course, but given the exposure of the dial to sunlight, it might cause the wax to melt and flake off eventually, doing more harm than good. So yes, if it was my own diver, I would lacquer the dial!
  9. Hey A, I am not an AP expert but here is my take on the list of mods for your V7 a. Powermatic 80 movement b. Guru crystal if you already have it c. The V7 supposedly has double AR on the cyclops: Good to go d. Lume should be good enough.. relume is strictly a matter of personal preference, not for enhanced accuracy e. Sunken bezel screws, contrary to very popular belief, is NOT a consistent feature on all gen divers..but you can align and slightly sink all bezel screws for aesthetic appeal (not accuracy.. non sunken bezel screws, or unevenly sunken bezel screws, are NOT a tell) f. While the watch is being disassembled, I would recommend you get the dial polished to a high gloss.. this mod IS for accuracy. g. Lastly, gen strap and buckle if you really love the watch to the max A! Not strictly necessary and only if you want to go the whole hog.
  10. All replicas today, or at least 99.9% of them, are produced in China. Forget about Canadian or Swiss sites, they are mostly dressed up to impress, charge higher prices due to operating premiums, and source their watches from China. Pick a dealer you like from here and buy from them.
  11. Mike, just a suggestion, perhaps a more relevant place to sticky this would be the PAM section.
  12. I agree with Tinitonsi. The buckle is a rep one.

  14. Stepan, One of the purpose of this forum, and community, is that we can have opportunities to understand, and help solve problems that others are facing. So, let me offer my assistance again. I do not know the value of the watch(es) that got stolen, but I can help mitigate the pain of your loss. You can think about it, and PM me if you decide to take up my offer. Guys who know me, would know that I mean what I say when it comes to such offers.
  15. Stepan I asked, because I am willing to help you. I would like to know which watches you ordered. I think its time to let this go since you are most likely not going to recover the watches from whoever stole them, from the postal services of either country, or from Josh. That leaves buying the watches anew from elsewhere, since I am guessing that Josh would not be your dealer of choice any longer. So let me know which watches you lost, and I would assess the situation and make you a goodwill offer. Don't worry it would not be conditional. I would just like you to remember the kindness of members here and one day, pay it forward. That would be all.
  16. OP, how much is your loss in terms of dollars? Sent from Mars using tapatalk
