  1. I have come across a lot of pictures of the AP Black Themes, and its starting to grow on me lol. Do you have any issues with the sec@12 movement?
  2. The Nigerian 419 scams are really becoming more creative. Lol. I wonder when these scammers would finally get a life. But on the other side of the coin, there really are idiots born every minute. That's how these people go on thriving I guess...
  3. I am obviously lousy at identifying omega reps.. can you guys kindly enlighten me, how do you tell its a fake please? Thanks lots!
  4. Nice! I would have turned up if not for the fact that I am in The Netherlands right now. I wish you all the best for your meet up!

  8. Depending on which side of the camp you approach, you may get two very distinct, biased views on the donning of replica watches. If you approach a website that promotes and protects the purchase of authentic watches, you get messages like "Fake watches are for fake people" and "No matter how real it looks, it is still a fake." If you visit replica sites, you get told tales that are sprung from the other extreme of the spectrum. 'Facts' like "Why spend thousands more on an item that looks and feel 99.9% like the real deal?", "Impress by spending so much less" and "Nobody will ever tell the difference!" The truth of the matter, based on real world experience, in my opinion, is something that lies in the middle. I will come to that later, but I want to just digress a little to share my core belief on watches, either genuine or replica. For the record, i own both genuine and replica watches, and I do not advocate either the "gen-snob" or "reps only thank you" theory. What I believe sincerely is this: Wear what you like. A watch is like a companion, and the company you keep is your own affair entirely. Given the premium pricing that luxury timepieces command, the market for replica watches thrives, based on the fundamental fact that each of us has unlimited wants, and limited resources. The opportunity cost of a genuine AP ROO, for example, could be secondhand car or the deposit on a house. Comparatively, a replica AP ROO costs a mere fraction of the price the genuine commands, is visually similar, and in most cases, is able to satisfy the owner that he or she is wearing a dream. The comparisons of these watches with their authentic counterparts and discussions regarding such details, from my experience, takes place among a niche of afficionados and in our own minds most of the time. The vast majority of people we meet wearing the watches would go "Hey nice watch" and then go on perhaps to discuss the superficial aspects of the timepiece. I have never met someone who demanded I remove the watch so that he could inspect it and determine its authenticity. In short, my opinion is that if you wear a rep watch, and stay away from pawn shops, you will do just fine. I am listing my own beliefs about replica watches, feel free to engage me in a debate or discussion if you feel compelled to do so. 1.Most people wear replica watches because they like the design of it, and find the price of the genuine version unjustified or beyond their reach. 2. They do not care if someone else likes the watch or finds it fake looking. Serious collectors of replica watches take more pride in their collection than anyone else anyway, and are their own best judge. 3. An aesthically pleasing and accurate looking replica is important to most of us, not because we want to fool anyone else, but because we want to look and feel good everytime we check the time. 4. Most people we meet cannot give two hoots about whether the watch we wear are real, fake, cost $50 or $10,000,000. The watch forms part of the visual impression people form about us superficially in most cases. 5. In my experience, sales staff who work at watch boutiques care more about what you wish to buy, than the watch you wear to the shop. 6. You will hear "nice watch" more than anything else each time you wear your favorite replica out. Hey, if you find it good-looking, chances are, someone else would too. 7. A quality replica watch, if properly cared for, would function well and serve you faithfully for many years. 8. Genuine watches are not always problem free. I have a broken genuine omega constellation one genuine cartier that refuses to move sitting in my drawer. I would have to concede that genuine watches are generally more reliable, though the more high-end replicas are often underrated in terms of accuracy and precision too.. 9. The person that cares most about the accuracy of a replica watch, is the wearer himself/herself. 10. The worth of any watch, genuine or replica, is determined by the wearer and the wearer alone. A watch with $50 monetary market value may be priceless to someone in terms of sentimental worth. Replicas are getting better, more sophiscated, and more expensive. Replicas are also attracting more interest among collectors, and the possibilities of aftermarketing modding are really nothing to be scoffed at. Who says its a cheap hobby at all? Lol This, is a rambling post by someone who got time on his hands (literally and figuratively) There is no point I am trying to make, and nobody I am trying to convince. Thank you for your time in reading this random entry of mine. I just hope to reconcile the realities of wearing replicas as opposed to the claims put up by both the genuine and replica camps.
  9. Its encouraging to hear that Burnz..I never had good luck with my rep APs but couldnt resist buying anyway for mods. I couldnt manage to get the gen. Survivor so I bought a rep. It failed on the 3rd day lol. Likewise for my rep. T3, Masato and Chronopassion! But i have been a sucker for limited edition AP ROOs, and so far, the only gen. I have is the T3. But that doesnt stop me buying nearly every other rep. AP that gets released! If only i had your luck lol
  10. Very nice watch.. while at it, how about getting them to solve the classical A7750 sec@12 issue inherent with the rep AP with such movements? It would be a very very nice piece then lol
  11. Thank you Nanuq! I am new to this so thank you for helping me out.
  12. Dear Valjoux7750 Thank you for your post, and though I am from Singapore, I do not use Singlish at all, not because I have anything against it, but probably because I spend majority of my time working abroad. The humidity and temperature of Singapore does not (knock on wood) pose a problem to the watches storage so far. I store them in my room, on winders and watch cabinets. I do send them for servicing once a year though (both gens and reps), just to keep them running good. As I mentioned earlier, to me, every watch is a time telling marvel, and every timepiece holds a special meaning for me. On a side note, I am thankful that Singapore is a safehaven for its citizens and visitors both, and you could walk out with an expensive watch on your wrist and return with both the watch and wrist intact. I do not deserve to be termed an erudite, as there is yet so much for me to learn and it seems I can never reach the bottom of the knowledge pile no matter how much I read lol. Thank you for your kindness and your response.
  13. Can someone please teach me how to contact The Zigmeister, as I have some jobs for the man. I tried the conventional methods, and it seems his PM is full. I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, or the wrong channel. I did try some methods to contact him before asking for help. Thank you very much and sorry if this annoys anyone! LK
  14. To Audace, Coolfire, good to know there are fellow enthusiasts in the same country! Could I venture to ask about your rep collections?
  15. Ah, a fellow countryman I see. Thanks dude for the welcome yo!
  16. Dear Mike Thank you for giving me the first welcome reply, and I think there is more for me to learn, than there is for me to contribute. Your kindness is very much appreciated. Regards LK
  17. Hello to all members, moderators and veterans of RWG. I am a newbie to this forum, but no noob to replica watches. It took me quite a while to find an online community dedicated to the discussion and interest-sharing of replica watches, but here I am, and looking through the various threads, I think I am happy to call this place home, if I am welcome to do so. I have a rather unique induction into the world of replica watches. First off, I own about 20 pieces of genuine watches today, some of the more interesting watches in my collection includes the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore T3, the IWC pilot's watch top gun double chronograph, an Hublot big bang tourbillon inherited from my father, and my personal favorite, the Panerai Luminor Marina Firenze (PAM 224 I think). The reason I first started buying (and later started collecting) replica watches is because I got robbed in Bangkok at knife point in 2002, and the robber relieved me of my Rolex GMT, along with my entire wallet. The experience left me very angry, and my travelling companion suggested in a joking manner, after the incident, that I should perhaps start looking at replica watches to "lessen the pain in event of future robberies". I looked at him then, and could not decide between choking him till his eyeballs pop, or heeding his advice seriously. I decided upon the latter, and started making enquiries on where to find "quality replicas" in the country. Hence began my journey into the world which most of you are already comfortably acquainted with, and one I would grow to dwell deeper into over the years. My first replica was a rolex GMT, to replace the robbed one. It was well made, and after about 9 yrs, it is amazingly still working well, although physically, age has taken its toll on the faithful watch. I began to explore other replica makes, and models, and got addicted. To me, a watch is a watch. Be it genuine or replica, it is up to the wearer primarily to decide the worth of the watch, and its value. As long as he/she does not hurt anyone in the process of wearing it, I would say that choosing to wear a replica is a personal business of the owner. Of course, there is always the broader consideration of intellectual property theft, the ethics of pirating etc but if one chooses a replica watch because he/she could not afford the authentic version but loves the design, I do not see anything wrong with him going for a replica. Its a very personal choice. I started dabbling in replica watches, and must have blown at least $10,000 on trash products, before learning what to buy, whom to trust, and how to interpret the various terminologies used in the various adverts. There have been so much to learn, regarding the movements, the materials, the designs and the prices of the replicas in the market today. Today, I have a decent collection of replica watches, along my genuine ones. I view each of them as an individual unique piece, and do not segregate them based on whether they are genuine or replica units. The watches have accompanied me for all types of events and situations, and I never once worry about scrutiny of the replica watches when I wear them, or whether they differ from the genuine watches in this way or that. To me, I bought each watch because they are visually pleasing to me, or because of some unique design or feature, and I wear them for myself. Occasionally, I do get compliments on my replica watches and asked how much I paid for it. My reply would always be "less than what you think, and more than what I should". I am glad to have found this lovely community, and I hope to become part of it. There is much to learn and many people to learn it from. My knowledge and experiences comes mostly from the School of hard knocks, if only I had found RWG earlier lol. So, hello everyone, and I am pleased to get acquainted with you.
  18. Hi Francisco, I am very new here, and I own a couple of AP rep (A-7750) with running seconds at 12 o'clock, with the standard problems. the watch just does not run smooth at all, and stops often. I understand that you could modify the movement to provide better reliability. I have a few questions: 1. Would you accept the tasks of upgrading the movements of both my AP? 2. How much would it cost me please, if so, and how could I pay you? 3. Would you be able to return my watches to Singapore after repair? I am not a time waster, please do not worry. I am a genuine AP fan who is very frustrated with the movement of the reps. I am finding someone who could help me, and after reading your columns, it seems to me, kind sir, that you are the best man for the jobs.. do get in touch with me thank you!
