Yeah, I use that same surface almost every time. It looks nice with Rolex watches.
The surface of the new style Rolex box is quite disappointing. I've tried to use that occasionally, but it simply doesn't work in the photo setups. Getting photos is no problem, finding new ideas the hardest part.

The basic cheap 21J Seagull, etc. movements (inside the cheaper reps) have always been perfect and reliable for me. They usually have better power reserves... and most of the time they're very accurate. People at the gen forums have owned those cheap 21J Alpha watches for YEARS without any kind of problems.
If only they all had high beat 28.8k movements I wouldn't have ANY problem buying those, instead of ETA.

That's a very nice review. Thanks.
By the way, the dial on the Noobmariner is virtually perfect. The only "annoying" flaw on the watch is the oversized triplock crown.

Good morning! This big boy for Friday.

Thanks for keeping this great thread going. Beautiful watches guys!!

Yachty today.

if only the He valve was accurate!
What's wrong with the HE valve then?
Not the position, that's for sure... it's perfectly positioned on the SMP Chrono replica. That's exactly at '10.

What a beauty! Congrats Laz!!!
I know AR isn't accurate on this older model of SMP Chrono, but damn it makes it look so cool! These pics make me want AR on my SMP chrono too.
Enjoy, it's one fine piece!

is this something that can be fixed?
My uneducated guess is that the GMT hand is loose and it's "slipping". I'm not any kind of expert though, I've heard about this problem before... but not with the recent GMT reps.
Everything can be fixed. Is it worth it, that's a different question. Perhaps Ziggy could advice?
-
I was not aware that there was a GMT rep available that had an adjustable hour hand....thought that was genuine only....
Yes, there is. HERE is one. It functions exactly like the gen, except that the date change follows the GMT hand, not local time.
Now that you have mentioned it....do you know who sells this watch?Out of production. But the rumor has it that the new ceramic GMT will have a new version of the correct stack movement.
Ha, oh yes I do. I meant to type that this is NOT the correct hand stack version. makes a difference, don't it? Jeez, I really ought to proof read these things!Yeah, it is definitely the incorrect hand stack. Which, again, I've always thought was pretty reliable.
Yes, they have been very reliable lately. I never had a single problem with those. You just have a bit of bad luck I guess... probably the GMT hand is loose or something?
-
You said this:
This is NOT the incorrect hand stack version. Can BK source the correct hand stack version now?
I seriously doubt it, as it's completely out of production. You probably DO have the incorrect hand stack version. That means GMT hand under the hour hand.
If you do, my advice wasn't valid.
-
Weird. I've had a few of the correct stack movements, but never had that kind of problem.
The GMT hand might get stuck with the hour hand. Have you tried "rounding" the independent hour hand for a few full circles? Crown on the date set position -> turn anti-clockwise. Then again, round the both hands around the dial and play with them a little. The hand function on the correct stack GMT is a bit so and so... It might help.
PS: I've noticed that changing the local time backwards (minutes & hours) makes the GMT hand go out of sync. You can, however, return it back in sync when you play with the independent hour hand a little. The hands are a bit "wobbly" on my watch, but function perfectly.
@Nightstroker: Good advice, but not for this model. He's talking about the correct hand stack movement (hour hand adjustable) which functions like gen. You can't set the GMT hand independently on that one.
-
Of course you're aware that the GMT hand takes 24 hours to make a "full circle"? i.e it's twice as slow as the hour hand.
I'm sure you are, but just in case...

and 14 K gold is instantly noticeable.
Is it really? I used to think that as well. It certainly WAS on the older models.
But when I compare the rep I reviewed to the gen Ebay pics I don't see much difference. I'm sure there is some difference, but "instantly noticeable"? I definitely couldn't detect it without straight comparison. Perhaps the gold on the rep has a bit lighter, "yellower" tone... and the gen gold is more "rosy"?

How can a "market value" of a REPLICA WATCH be $2500?
Fer Christ's sakes that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time!!
-
Picture of the gen. In the Bluefakes website!!!!
Holy Refrigerator Batman, that was a surprise!

I probably have more wrist shots of the Daytona I borrowed from Stephane... but can only find one. So I added two \"studio shots\". I hope you don\'t mind.
-
Has there ever been another watch that absolutely EVERYBODY considers ugly as hell?
-
Yes indeed. You have to read THIS thread for more.
-
Definitely a gen.
Great score! Enjoy!
-
But I love to own this one and will for sure take care of it when it comes back from a trip to another great RWG member.
Strange Daytona, that one... it travels a lot.

The "inner clasp" on my 4th Gen was so soft metal, that I was able to twist it with my bare hands. The bracelet completely ruined the watch.
I have no idea if it has been upgraded since. It's possible.
