  1. i would also like to see the zenith aero repped, but again, i see them having a problem with the subdial spacing...

i really could care less...i just want to see some quality zenith's repped. im a huge fan as well.

    That's the spirit!

If I really like the design of some particular chrono, I want to buy it. I don't care about the spacing issue, either.

It's not technically possible to mimic the spacing on many watches, so that leaves two alternatives: Replica with wrong spacing or no replica at all. I'm really glad the BTR got repped, and would like to see some Zeniths too.

  2. Interesting theory. But I think in reality there are one, two or three factories in China who have monopoly on the Rolex reps, and they're simply not capable of doing very good job. Only one of them (the "Noob" factory... or whatever it's called) can make good replicas. Rest of the Chinese Rolex reps (from other factories) are simply crap.

This is just a guess of course, but to me the "monopoly theory" (mafia controlling the market, or whatever...) sounds much more likely than any kind of "agreement with Rolex". I think it was Pugwash who originally posted that one.

For example the factory that replicated TAG Link and Aquaracer was able to make almost perfect job. Both of those watches are much more complicated (design wise) than any Rolex ever produced. Lots of other examples too (BCE, SFSO, etc.)

  3. Discussed the Tudor chrono with a member in another forum...

Think about it: They could technically replicate Tudor Tiger Chrono without ANY problems, and even use the Daytona case, which is already available. People could get a nice rep, Daytona design and a reliable movement on top of that.

Tiger Chrono is 7750-based, so there would be ZERO tech/spacing issues. I'm 100% sure it would sell. But there's still no rep... not even one. How retarded is that?

I think it looks BETTER than the Daytona...and it has a date.

    This is the new model:

  4. You forget one thing: It's possible that the watch gets damaged during the shipment too. That has happened to me as well.

I once sent a watch to US, which was in perfect condition. I put a lot of bubble wrap around it, and even sent it in a padded envelope on top of that. But when the watch arrived at the destination the plastic crystal was cracked. Thankfully my friend Ubiquitous had a spare one that he shipped to the guy.

Hands or lume markers can get loose during the shipment as well. Stuff like this happens and there's nothing we (or the dealers) can do.

  5. @By-Tor: when I compared my brushed Link Chrono with a gen at the AD window it occured to me that not only the pushers have a different shape/size and the crown has too few teeth, also the bezel is too big. Maybe it's modelled after an older version of the gen I'm unaware of.............

Nevertheless it's still a gorgeous watch.

Also mine was sold as a high beat 7750, but Ziggy found out it wasn't. Seems that most TAG Links these days only have low beat movements.

    Good to know.

The datefont used to be an issue too. But I doubt they're using that original (horrible) font anymore.

@Omni: That's funny... I didn't mean 36 is old, but I guess it's old enough to see some of your tastes slowly changing. :)

  6. I doubt I'm going to purchase a lot of watches this year. But of course, we addicts are ALWAYS looking for something... constantly trying to find some pathetic excuse to buy "just one more watch".

I rarely go to "window shopping" in the dealer sites anymore but today I did... and look what I found...

    1. Ebel BTR 1911 7750

    dsc0052tv7.jpg

Well this watch has flaws, but after I saw Lanikai's pictures of his bracelet version, I'm sold. This is definitely on top of my list. I love the design and I don't really give a rat's ass about the wrong subdial spacing, it's a Ebel, a rare luxury brand... who really cares?

    2. TAG Link Chronograph (brushed version)

    TAG-034-3.jpgTAG-041-1.jpg

The one and only reason I traded my extremely accurate Link Chrono was the highly reflective dial. I've heard the brushed version doesn't have this problem. I absolutely love the bracelet on this watch. Alternatively I could even consider the white Link GMT. I've been leaning towards white dials lately, but I'm a bit worried about the small size on the GMT.

    3. BCE Ultimate

    BREITLING-098-4.jpg

I don't know why I still don't own this. I'd buy it, if I found a good EU-based member deal. ETA datefont and double AR are essential on this one. I wish it had brushed case and bracelet though... never liked the bling ss bands on the Breits.

    4. Omega Aqua Terra

    OMEGA-074.jpg

This is a bit of an "old man" watch, like Rolex DateJust but hey... I'm in my mid-thirties and it's only natural that my tastes start to move towards classic lines. There's something very basic, very classy on the AT. I love Explorer I too, but it's way too small... while AT would be perfect size. The white version w/ gold hands is a beauty!

    5. Breguet Transatlantic

    BREGUET-017-6.jpg

Wow, this is nice. Yeah it has wrong subdial spacing but again: who cares... The only problem is that when you're wearing a Breguet you should drive a Bentley. I only drive a Mercedes E200 Kompressor and it's not even my own. :D This in rose gold is the sh*t. For Christ's sake... someone should purchase one already, so I could at least enjoy the pictures.

These are on top of my list. Post yours, and please don't just make a list... please add some reasoning, and let's have some WATCH TALK here. :)
