  1. Yeah, I really hope the new GMT won't follow the HBB path. I don't know much about that material. Is it really very expensive to maintain (or produce)?
  2. I wonder when the ceramic Rlx GMT is going to be released. Not sure if I ever buy one, but I'm curious to see it... and perhaps review it.
  3. Looks great Lani! I owned one of these vintage MBW's too, long time ago. 1680 really has the "spirit".
  4. Here's a review of the BTR-line (gen): http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=70916
  5. Found this review of this amazing watch series, which is going to be repped soon. Enjoy! QP21_30_36.pdf
  6. I can't wait for the new BTR. That's one of the reps I just have to get... it's a real ace. I wasn't going to buy new watches anymore, but just this one. I hope they'll make the bracelet version too.
  7. The stopwatch runs when the big center seconds hand is running. It starts and stops from the upper button, resets from the lower one. When reset, all chrono hands point at '12.
  8. I think Alphas use the same standard Asian 21J movements as the cheaper reps. The QC is probably a bit "so and so", but I have nothing but good to say about the Asian 21J. The watch in your picture has the Seagull ST-19 movement (Venus copy). Alphas are great watches for the money. Just go to the gen forums and see how popular they are.
  9. How on earth this great writeup didn't receive any replies? It was released March 13th... I have completely missed it! I'm both amazed and ashamed at the same time. Thanks again for your efforts...and for another great writeup Pix. I will link this to the TAG Guide.
  10. Paul was always saying that we only represent what... 10% of his complete sales. I seriously doubt that number... now that we have three fairly large forums with thousands of members. But maybe he's right. Speaking of mr. HotShot, I hope he's still happy with his Porche (sic).
  11. Archie, I didn't mean that we should arrange any kind of "organized" boycotts. It's just that everyone has their limit, and my limit is definitely somewhere between $350 and $400. Swiss 7750-based watches, frankens and real gold watches are different of course. I'm talking about those $700 and $900 Hublots and such. That's just insane!
  12. But then again, the quality of reps have increased DRAMATICALLY in the last 2 years. There have been some bad and disappointing reps, but there have been many which are almost indistinguishable from the gen... which was completely unheard of 2 years ago. The higher prices are almost justified when the end result is that good. Reps like Aquaracer, SFSO, BCE and SMP Chrono come to mind... IMHO: Anything that goes over 400$ should be boycotted. You have to draw the limit somewhere.
  13. Tudor Tiger or the Prince Date chronograph would be amazing. I've been complaining about the lack of reps for YEARS. Same with the Zenith El Primero Flyback/Rainbow and Ebel 1911 series. All three are great, great chronograph series, and it's a CRIME that we don't have reps of them. Tudors would be very easy to rep, even... due to the natural 7750 layout. I once tried on that blue Tiger Chrono (gen of course) and I swear, it's a beauty. Grey dial ain't bad, either.
  14. Most reps are waterproof and good enough for swimming. Many of them have screwdown crowns and tight cases & crystals, just like genuines. But there's no GUARANTEE at all. Treat rep like a rep. That means don't take it to the water.
  15. The factories can obviously afford that attitude... and frankly it doesn't surprise me. Well, as long as people are buying "super reps" for $400 and more...
  16. I was thinking the same. I wouldn't mind a good rep a Tudor Chronograph. Why is it always the blue dial that attracts me?
  17. That GMT II in your picture is simply dreadful, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the watches I have reviewed. Please, get that "thing" out of my sight! The one you want to get is the same one that comes from the MBK. I think Andrew sells the good version as well. TTK and bklm1234 too. The Noobfactory Rolexes are: GMT II Explorer II Noobmariner Yacht-Master TT Noobmariner ETA (comes in 2 gold "grades") I'm not sure, but I think the secs at '6 Daytona comes from this same factory as well. And as far as I know the good GMT and ExpII are only available in ETA. The correct hand stack versions are out of production. GMT needs various mods, mainly crown guards and new bezel. The crown is oversized too, and the GMT hand is a bit too thick. The "base" watch is brilliant though. Hope this helps.
  18. I reviewed one of these year ago. Read it here. I agree that TW Best watches are nice. Not always super accurate without mods, but they have a good "feel".
  19. That's extremely rare, and I believe it's very sought after model among the collectors. I don't even want to think much much it's worth these days... some of those vintage rare prices are just ridiculous.
  20. For today: Some Pepsi power.
  21. My my, has it really been over a year since I started this thread. Here's another bump... I also edited my initial post with more pics. Let's keep this nice one going, so post away guys!
  22. Nice. Did you replace the GMT hand, and if you did... where did you find this thinner one?
