  1. Thanks mate. I used white "blanco" paper to diffuse the lighting. That prevents the reflections from the bracelet nicely... and brings up the details of the satin finish. Capturing the bracelet properly... while keeping the overall lighting balanced is always tough for me.
  2. @Stephane: That Sub has some fundamental flaws. bklm listed most of them accurately. The cyclops is too right on the crystal... which means the datewheel is positioned too right. Pearl is horrible (but it's always the case with reps) Crown guards aren't bad but they look too short and thick... and wrong from the front. Rehaut is shiny and deep but again... the watch looks weird from the front. Conical? Yes I think so. The crystal is too low. The dial is ok. "L" in Rolex is wrong and the 1000m/300ft font is a bit off but it's probably impossible to see without magnification. When it comes to accuracy a $95 Noobmariner runs circles around this watch. It's far from perfect... it looks like a newbie bait to sell an average rep with huge profit. But then again you posted very good and HUGE pictures which always exaggerate the flaws... and there's not even single Submariner rep out there which looks right. It would be better to see this one in person... perhaps it has good "feel"... zoomed pictures don't always tell the whole truth. Either way... selling that watch for $458 and calling it "perfect" is laughable. This info is indeed valuable. You asked why so few people have commented... I always try refrain from posting negative comments to threads where people are enthusiastic about their new watch. Sorry mate.
  3. ...to take watch photos. Sometimes natural light works just as well.
  4. Thanks for the tip mkuhl. I've heard a lot of good about Neal Morse... will check this one out. PS: Saw your avatar... I love Peter Gabriel-era Genesis... Wind and Wuthering, Selling England, Lamb, etc. "Seconds Out" is one of the best live albums I have. They're touring this summer and come to my hometown... but I'm not sure if I'll go. I've never been a huge fan of Collins... although he's a great musician. "Home by the sea" is the only magnificient song the Collins-powered Genesis ever did (just imho). But maybe I go... they can always play 2-3 old songs there. Cheers!!!
  5. This is what I've been saying all along. These people who take their high end reps to AD... and publicly inform people at TZ about them... it's bound to hurt our hobby eventually. I see a lot of posts like that nowadays... "I showed my watch to the AD and he couldn't tell, etc. blah blah". I think every newbie who comes here and brags about this... or posts his reps to gen watch forums should be IP banned instantly. It's UTTERLY PATHETIC.
  6. Here's my MBW Daytona from the same factory. Zenith movement. PS: Watch is not for sale.
  7. Excellent review. This has to be linked to the Breitling Guide.
  8. Wore this today: And probably my SMP chrono tomorrow:
  9. Where can I find this MBW? Can someone confirm Luckyyy's contact information... I'm about to wire transfer some serious cash to Nigeria.
  10. Lots of replica scam sites advertise their POS watches with "Zenith movement". It's all bs. El Primero is very fine chronograph movement, and it's used in expensive watches like Zenith (obviously), Rolex Daytona, Ebel 1911 and TAG Calibre 36. The movement itself is probably worth around $1K (preowned) alone. I seriously doubt any rep advertised has this movement... unless it's a hardcore frankenwatch a'la Ubi. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...&hl=primero Here's Ziggy's review (I wish people read his section more): http://www.rwg.cc/members/Movement-Review-...aph-t18835.html
  11. @blkm: That really looks amazing. GMT is such a cool watch.
  12. Cool!!! So am I. 29th of October... same tour. Best concert I ever saw... during my NY trip. (Actually it was Roll The Bones tour but same venue).
  13. Yeah... the age-old dilemma... which one to get? I like all GMT's as long as they have half-red bezel. Here's my solution (2 inserts and bezels). The Pepsi is my favourite these days... but the black/red is much dressier. It's a "gentleman's choice".
  14. Thanks Steve. Good post... and good Rush lyrics.
  15. Because they're Chinese? Don't they even read backwards? Seriously... this is business as usual with reps. One step ahead, two steps backwards. Nothing surprising here.
  16. No, no... it's my old rep with wrong hand stack. Actually it's 2 years old next May. It's the same watch that has been reviewed here. I'm very satisfied with it. Wrong hand stack doesn't bother me at all (it's just similar with the old models and the movement is bullet-proof without those modifications).
  17. Nice one blkm. I see they have fixed the dial for the correct hand stack version, or has it been modded? Did you modify the cg's too? If I were you I'd change the insert. The numbers are a bit too thick. Not a big deal though...
  18. That rep is visually closer to 5513 though. If I were you I'd skip that rep.
  19. The crown guards and pearl are horrendous. Actually small children shouldn't see those cg's as they're so freakin' ugly. But if you have skills to modify them it's not all bad.
  20. ... classy Black/Burgundy. It's two (or actually three watches in one).
  21. Yeah, or alternatively enjoy what we already have. That's the human nature... we always want more, better, cheaper... and we want it now! And after we finally get it we're still not satisfied: the hour marker is 0.1mm crooked to the left. Life sucks in every possible way: When we're barchelors we complain about it. And when we get married it's even worse.
  22. I've said it before: It's because you have all the watches you ever wanted. I'm pretty much in the same position myself.
