Observe the cg's on the gen too. Spiky and they have the "chops" look... not like MBW's bulky and clumsy... so it appears that my original "hunch" was correct. Repainted dial then...?

Exactly my thoughts. I didn't like the shape. The cg's curve down too excessively as well... a'la MBW. But damn... if this is rep I want to know where did he get such dial.

I'm not questioning the shape and spacing of the ROLEX... it's the letters that look almost hand-written and sloppy. The crown symbol on the dial looks good though. But that being said... I think you're right. I changed my mind. This is way too nice to be a rep. I guess it's impossible to source rep/aftermarket dials with that low, red SUBMARINER text. Though it would be nice to see the cg's from straight ahead angle, crown screwed in. There's something I don't like about those cg's... but I could be seeing things.

A while back I got a PM from the fellow forum friend Relaxman, and he said that he wanted to send me something Omega-related... and asked my shipping address. I had no idea what it might be. The package arrived today and I picked it up today from the post office. It was a big package...it appeared to be a book: and what kind of book!!! "Antiquourum Omegamania"... over 600 pages of watch data. It contains huge pictures, model numbers, complete history and descriptions of all Omega models ever made. It also contains Antiquorum's estimated selling values of these watches, based on their previous sales. It contains lots of beautiful vintage Omega models that I have never seen before. Some of them are familiar, but this book reveals lots of new interesting details about these watches. All possible variations of the Broad Arrow: All different "Moon Watch" models: In-depth history of the Railmaster: Lots of very desirable vintages. Have you ever seen the "Big Blue" Seamaster? In-depth history of the Seamaster: Bling Seamaster Chronograph. Very dressy, not the usual rugged SMP look. Vintages (Ubi would like these): Complications and tourbillons: Some auctions: Pierce Brosnan's preowned SMP: Daniel Craig's "Ultimate PO" In short: This book has everything. Even the quartz-powered digital Omegas (not the highest moments of the brand history). If you're a Omega fan this book is a must-have. I'm amazed that fellow members keep sending me things. I got the Noobmariner from my mate Alextor... and now this! Can't say anything but HUGE THANKS to Relaxman, this was extremely generous of you... and really made my day! This is the greatest watch-related book I've ever seen... a real "Omega Bible".

This is difficult. My guess: the case isn't genuine... the cg's look wrongly shaped... especially the upper one. But I've never seen such dial on a replica red Sub... with correct low SUBMARINER font. But then again ROLEX and Swiss t<25 markings look suspect. Maybe they have been repainted or something? I say franken. But extremely nice.

I gotta admit that the Ferrari looks amazing... I shouldn't because I'm the official "anti-PAM" guy here. PS: Relaxman... I got something from you in the post office. Will pick it up today.

@Andreww: My Ultimate PO from PT requires 6 turns to both screw and unscrew. Definitely feels ok. Perhaps this can be some kind of indicator of the good/bad crown? I always feel that I'm the luckiest guy ever with these reps... I never get any kind of problems.

@Chris: The basic automatic movements in the reps are very, very reliable. ETAs and even Asian 21J automatics. It's extremely rare to hear anyone's ETA having any mechanical problems, even after years of use. Yes, even the reps. Asian 21J is much cheaper movement and they have some kind of (smallish) defect rate out-of-the-box. But if the movement runs well and keeps time for the first two, three months it will probably do so for years. So it would be rather stupid to replicate them in quartz... they wouldn't sell a lot. Who would want a quartz movement over good, reliable classic ETA? Perhaps the same people who would choose a Volkswagen over Audi? I wouldn't mind buying an accurate quartz rep of a chronograph watch, either. For example of TAG Aquaracer Chronograph. But the problem is... they usually make a quartz rep of the automatic model. Like this Ebel here. This watch had very high quality bracelet and good feel. But it's very inaccurate. I loved the watch though... but gave it to a friend due to lack of wrist time. They also made TAG Aquaracer chrono quartz rep. But unfortunately it's replication of the automatic model. It's both cheaply done and inaccurate. The 7750-powered chronographs are superior in overall quality too... they belong to different category. Why they didn't make "1:1" replica of the Aquaracer quartz model is a mystery. Perhaps they think it wouldn't have big sales potential in over $90 price range? Still... there ARE some rather nice quartz reps that I could recommend (mostly TAGs): TAG F1 TAG Indy TAG SLR and this TAG Link Ladies that I reviewed and bought for my girlfriend. The new Asian 7750 chronograph movement isn't superb, but I have two left... that get regular wrist time and they're ok after 8-9 months. Many noobs who bash them have never even owned one. It's the modified movements that are POS (seconds at 6' Daytona, etc.). The track record of 7750 isn't great, but if you take good care of them I guess they have potential to last for years, too... before they need to be serviced. Time will tell...

@Chief: Of course you know this already... but try a dark reflector card in front of the watch. But not all black because then the dial won't get enough light. Some kind of half-transparent dark piece of paper maybe? The bracelet details look excellent in that picture... and your first pic is superb. You can get rid of the green reflection on the grown guard and blue on the crown and bezel when you surround the area with lasso tool and reduce the saturation of those colors (with PS of course). You probably had a blue shirt on when you took the pic.

Selling reps is STEALING. It's illegal, counterfeit, piracy, whatever you want to call it... Those companies use tremendous amounts of money to marketing and quality control. Hublot is relatively small luxury watch brand (compared to Rolex and Omega anyway) and I suspect high end replicas are much bigger financial threat to them. If this weren't true, the guy wouldn't be surfing these forums now. I have absolutely no moral objections of buying a rep and "ripping" the rich major watch brands that way... but it doesn't change the facts. It's THEIR PROPERTY and THEIR DESIGN. Don't go to their house and rub your counterfeit item against their nose... like I said it's very rude and distasteful.

I always find it hilarious when the TZ people try to look rep community down their noses. Some members of this forum own ridiculously expensive collections of genuines. I'm also know for a fact that many TZ "purists" are closet rep buyers. That being said... the guy who posted the Big Bang rep to TZ should be ridiculed and IP banned here (if we can somehow find out who he was). It's completely distasteful and LAME to troll the gen watch groups (imho). We leave them alone...and maybe they'll leave us alone too. I repeat myself once again: Some people can't see the big picture... this hobby doesn't need any more mainstream attention than it already has. And especially not from the lawyers and bosses of the gen watch companies. I completely understand the Hublot guy's concern... for most of us collectors reps are just "harmless fun"... but not to those guys. High end reps HURT their business... and if the quality further improves it will only become worse... it's not a laughing matter. That's why I've been saying that we should make this forum less accessible in Google... and keep low profile... it's only a matter of time before something negative happens. People who take their reps to AD and post them to TZ hurt us all.

Yeah it looks like WM 1675. It's highly inaccurate though... this model uses the 1680 case and crystal. Because something is called "MBW" or "WM" it doesn't guarantee the accuracy. It's a nice looking watch and I wouldn't mind wearing it... but not very accurate. But I recall the gen 1675 doesn't have independently settable GMT hand, either. I could be wrong though...
