  1. I read something about this before but just can't find it. I'm looking at an Ebel 1991 and the price difference ranges from $40 to $150. All the pics and descriptions look and read the same. I have a trusted dealer who I've purchased from beating all the dealers I've looked at. I figure I would go with the best price. Any input would be most welcome.

So what's holding you back from Buying from your "trusted dealer who I've purchased from beating all the dealers I've looked at." Maybe you could share his site so that we could get the same discount?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. HikeUSA,

    nice paint job.

    did you replace your pearl?

how did you get it centered?

    thanks

Thanks, and Nope! Pearl is AS/IS! Centered? on the triangle on the bezel? It was centered AS/IS! If you mean lined up with the 12 on the Dial,

the bezel insert fell off and I had to re-glue it, so I aligned it meself!

BTW: Does your DEEPSEA lume on the 2 and 4 don't emit as much luminosity as the rest of the markers? Mine seem to be less bright as the rest of them that it

    looks wierd in the dark!

    Cheers!

  3. Alright guys! I've seen so many post all over about painting jobs on their DSSD Bezels that I decided and do it......and I didn't even have to buy the paint (and BTW: this can of paint is like 2 years old :D) ....I just grab the only white spray paint I have in the garage and did it. I used an old watercolor paint brush and trimmed it doe to about 10 hairs and apply 3 coatings.....I mean, apply 1 coat, have it dry and then cleaned by slowly stripping the excess dry paint with a plastic scraper and then clean it up with a dab of mineral spirits on a cotton bud and then rinse it in soap and warm water with a very soft bristle tooth brush .....repeated 3 times. So here goes, tell me what you think!

    First, the before:

and After (I purposely left an arrow effect @ the 9 marker as my signature! :thumbsupsmileyanim: ):

  4. Watch Time April '09 have a review of the Sea Dweller.....I took some pictures of the cover with mine on top.....

with the insert out....it feel off! What a bummer  .........anyone tried putting this back on?

    dssdwt1.jpg

I mounted it back, but not glued yet:

Is the depth just right? I'm just wondering koz there was a thick layer of something plastic that I took out from inside of the bezel inself?

Any ideas/suggestions will be highly appreciated! Thanks!

  5. The bubbles from the case back could also be caused by the air trapped between the SS and Titanium part. This consruction leaves space for air which will escape when the air equalizes. I'm 99% sure this is where the bubbles came from and you watch is perfectly WP ;)

PS: Are you missing some movement holder scews?

Thanks! Nope, it came that way! I guess its too much for the China Man to install 2 more screws! :D

  6. You're absolutely right there, bro, my 004 would absolutely look the nuts with the clothing, but there're two small snags...

    1. The Suunto was the watch worn in the series, and I'm going for accuracy to wardrobe, rather than personal choice (which would be my DIYSub on NATO)

    2. The movement in said 004 is absolutely trashed and needs replacing. No point in wearing a watch if it can't even tell me the time

Either way, I'm hoping it'll be a good party :good:

Right on! First pint for me, pls!

  7. I'm wearing this today, to get myself accustomed to it for tomorrow evening.

My wife and I are going to a costume party in the evening, and I'm going to be wearing something like this:

    Stargate_Atlantis_Season_5_Cast.jpg

I didn't want to swap watches at the last minute, and then be fiddling with it all evening, so I figured best to 'break it in' before hand :)

Dude! I think you'd look cool in a PAM in that get up! IMHO!

  8. That's why it's important to use a gen bottle. DO NOT use a cheapie and have some respect for the possibility of it blowing up especialy the first time. Be warned, if these jiggers do blow they fragment into nasty sharp pieces due to the type of plastic used. It's very tough but also very hard so shatters not splits.

    Col.

I was also worried about it, so I tested it first empty and slowly pump it until it reached about 90psi! I held it there for about 5 mins and when nothing happened then I know I was good! One thing though, as the pressure goes up, air will start to come out at he cap, so you have to tighten as you go! I also wrap a few rounds of white water pipe tape (the one you use to join two water pipes at home) on the threaded mouth of the water bottle and that help seal it, but you still have to tighten as the pressure increase!

BTW: after the test, it would be very, very tight (and I think only Lani can open it at this point! :D ), so you have to pump the pressure up again until you feel the air coming out, then you very slowly start to untighten the top cover, when it's loose enough, then you turn off the pump!

Very nicely done. Love your ORLEX :p

    Wonder what my V3 says

    XELOR!!! ;)

  9. As long as we're talking about greasing things up, does it make sense to put a drop of machine oil on the edge of the rotating bezel, in a way that it would seep under? Just curious, could be a dumb question, or it could be one of those questions that most don't thing about asking....

I do on all my watches with rotating bezels......I use All-in-1 oil! I put 2 drops in each lug side and rotate it until you fell it getting smooth, then let soak for 30 mins or so.....

Or you could deep fry in Chinese Sesame Seed Oil!..... :bleh::boxing:

  10. Hey 'F' ...

sounds good.. actually .. I will post this publiclly rather than pm since it is a "Need" we really need to "Boost" supporter upgrades at the same time as doing raffles ..

it would be a great day when "raffles" are done and the $$ can go to gift certificates .. for give away's .. we have the largest membership of forums .. PERIOD .. yet only a small portion choose to help support the froum .. I think the members that don't just need a little nudge and to be informed "where" the money goes and how it is used ..

We no longer have to "ask" for last minute donations or for lack of a better word.. "pan handle" donations .. to pay the usage for the month ... we need to form a "Team" to get members to Upgrade .. we really need to take this to another level and get it goin !! B)

    If I'm being repetitive..

    .

    .

    .

    yup !! I am .. :D

    Just let me know, Brahh!

This is a V3? The He valve looks thicker in this photo than mine...

    V3.jpg

    for comparison...

    Gen-He.jpg

I was under the impression that there was only one version of a V3, and if so, why are these different? Is mine something else? Now that I look at mine compared to the gen, I'd like to replace the pearl with a gen version. Pm sent to Tribal for more info... :)

    Strange.......those Chinese REPREICATS!

Wow, that was neat! So with a Nalgene Water bottle and a car tyre pump, you can make your own pressure gauge? Wont the bottle burst or the cap burst out or something? I dont use Nalgene Water bottle...

lol, Wont it be better if you use a clear bottle?

    Very nice work friend.

    I know, I know, Iknow.......but I have an old one that I don't use anymore! :D

GREAT, they spelled ROLEX correctly on this one. BUT THEN managed to engrave the wrong reference number. The correct reference number is 116660.

And he thinks he's got a GEN, ha.....got ya.......REPRECATS AT THEIR BEST! :D

...c'mon guys.... you're looking at the evolution of POLEX :D

    :band1:
