  1. Absolutely fantastic photos, amigo :good: As before, utterly kills that myth about not getting reps wet ;) I bet after six weeks of wear, the watch has now aquired 'beater' status and doesn't come off :tu:

Thanks for sharing the adventure :good:

Thanks Dude! I have to give it a mini vacation....hehehe!

    HikeUSA,

if you dont mind me asking,

Does it cost a lot to go there for vacation? That place is absolutely stunning and I'd love to go there when I have a chance

How does it compare to other beaches in asia? do you know?

    Hi Arrow!

Depends where your coming from, but the major expense portion of the trip is the airfare.......from US Midwest, about $1200-$1600! Cheaper from the west coast!

In the Philippines, Flts from Island to Island is about $50 round trip! Most Islands I've been to are just an hour boat (outriggers)ride away. They cost about $25/person for

a whole day of service. Most of the cost is for diving....about $10/dive....cheaper if you buy like a 10 dive package which is about $75! The cost of lodging depends on

how comfy you wanna be......if your the backpacker type, $15-$20! $50 will get a nice room with private bath, AC and sometimes free breakfast....depends on where you

are and how much gaijin (tourist) flock in the area! Entertainment is cheap, and sometimes free if you get lucky (if you know what mean!), enough said!

For 5 weeks in the Phillipines, I only spent around $6000 including my airfare (upgraded to busines with United Mileage Plus - you have to fly business for these long haul flights!).

Hope that helps! PM me if you need more details~!

O, I forgot about the beach.........truly grea and awesomet! Clean and most of them are secluded accessible only by boat!

These pics are soooo beautiful, love them.

And thank you for convincing me to let my babies into the water :D

    Theo

Thanks & your welcome! jsut make sure you water seal them!

    lovely pictures

    Thanks!

    AWESOME ... Thanks for sharing!

Out of curiosity...what kind of camera did you use?

    Hi DuDro!

Thanks! for underwater, I used the Olympus Stylus 1030SW! And the rest, Nikon DSLR D90.....best there is in this price range ($900-1200!) IMHO~!

  2. Nonsense - a fully serviced Asian movement , even if done by a professional would never give you a gen quality movement.

These are Chinese made with many middle men in between taking their cut of profits. QC at levels in Swiss factories simply do not exist there. The cost base is so much less

Speak for yourself! Obviously you don't know the experts here! And please don't insult them! Servicing these Asian movements don't make them into Gens, but at least in performance, they are close after the servicing! I wonder if you actually have your rep watch serviced! I have and I could vouched for their performance~!

  3. I'm in Canada and don't want to have to deal with customs.

I've been trying to reach The Zigmeisterzumba but I guess he changed his @yahoo.com address.

    Anyone else?

I want a full servicing and even though my dial and hands have been superlumed, I feel the color is a little greenish to my taste. So probably a nice lume job too!

    :-)

The Zigmeister is your Choice if you wanna stay inside Canada, otherwise, Vacume is our US version of The Zigmeister! I dont see any problem shipping across the border! Plus your

watch will get a badly needed Vit D!!!! Florida Sunshine!

  4. But I think the sentiments of this forum is that at best , if you don't go out and get it serviced immediately which is very expensive, there is a high risk of failure. At worst, taking the other contrubutors view - the movement is badly designed in the first place and is doomed to break

Whichever way, will they live beyond 5 years?

Endorsement.......is it?..............hmm...... sort of, but very high caveats

Why not go for a 9 o'clock seconds - more reliable and easier to replace movement when the unthinkable happens? Don't these one look as good?

    R

Only if the watch you like is in that configuration! AP ROOS are not....that's why the sec@12~!

  5. As usual, excellent report from the ZiggMiester! Thanks RG! Based on my experience with my AP ROO Safari, having worn it for more than six weeks in the worst conditions you could think of, I for one is impressed with the quality of this watch and the movement inside! As I have stated before, it only gained about a minute and a-half since I put it on, and for me, that's good enough! I have to give it a rest pretty soon and wear something else!

    Bravo! :1a:

  6. Vacation is over - now back to the Cold, Snowy and Windy place called home! These pictures where taken mostly in several Islands in the Philippines in the vicinity or area called Palawan.

Beautiful place and I think much better and cleaner compared to some parts or coastal towns of Thailand!

This area is called the Last Frontier of the Philippines.

We dove in several areas, some are coral reefs and some are Japanese Ship wrecks! We also dove in two inland lakes where sea water meets fresh water thru a big whole in the mountain.

The underwater pictures were taken around 10 to 35ft depth due to the limitation of my camera.

One thing about the watch, this is the only watch I brought...which means I wore it for six weeks straight! Very impressive performance! It gained about a minute and a half and just keep

on ticking after all the sand, salt water, sweat, alcohol (oooops, I think that was me!) humidity it encountered during the trip! Enjoy the pictures:

  7. Forgive me but this watch does have a screw down crown. The problem is that it does not work on my watch! When I ordered this watch I communicated with the seller, one of our trusted ones that I required this to be serviced and waterproofed. I was planning on having it done on my side also but wanted the movement oiled etc first. Well, I am guessing that even though I was told these checks were done they could not have been completed. The watch would not have passed any test with the crown in its current state. I have been in contact with the seller and am rather frustrated. I am getting the old, send it to a watchmaker, then I will send the parts out if you order another watch and finally I need to send extra money for airmail! Right now I am out of pocket $500, then watchsmith fee's here in the US for a crown check and soon another amount to have the crown replaced. I have asked that they send a tube also in case the problem is there and I am meeting problems with that request. Finally today I just sent an email stating that I will send the watch back for a full refund. So I wait.

    Very discouraged!!

Wow! I just got back from a long vacation and this is what I read the first day......I'm so sorry to hear about your problems....but looking at your member # and no. of post I would think that you have done your research here at RWG........"NEVER ORDER YOUR WATCH FROM THE DEALERS WITH SERVICE AND WATERPROOFING!" It's a waste of money!

You should return this watch.....sounds like you're getting the typical run around! If this is the 1:1 model for $500 or so, it should not have these issues! Good luck!

  8. You went to MBK and couldn't find MBW shop on the ground floor? That's truly sad...

I know! One member here and over at RWI told me where to find them, but maybe they were close that day.....or maybe permanently!

That is a watch that looks at home in the water.

Hey Mate! You got that right!

Very nice pics mate....I have to say...I am not brave enuff to take a $500 rep for diving :p

    Hey! Very nice pics!

I'm not brave enough either, but perhaps this'll change my mind... :)

    Have a great trip!!

@donpedro & Samurai, last Dec. I tested 6 watches and the ROO Safari was one of them that passed the 10ATM test,

you can read it here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Year-s-Eve-Water...023#entry588023

From what i know, HikeUSA always makes sure his watches are water-tight before diving! :p

Hey Cool! I having a blast, Dude! 3 more weeks to go! Still plenty of water dippings to do! I'll update!

Thanks all for reading! I thought all the ROO lovers would appreciate the info! This watch is definitely my new all around watch!

Hala Bira! as the Filipinos would say!

  9. Finally got a chance to set down on an Internet Cafe in the Philippines, and checked in with you guys! It has been a blast so far! Been to Bangkok (forget MBK, all they have are crappy clones....spent a couple of hours scouting the place, but can't find anything descent! My Tuktuk driver even brought me to a supposedly "the best" dealer he knows, but it was crap!) and Pattaya (not real much of a beach resort anymore!) then Palau Island and now here in the Phil. and in one of their Island (Palawan) known for beautiful coral reefs and wreck diving and beautiful amazing beaches.......this place is HEAVEN!!! I have three more Islands to visit, all known as good dive sites, so we'll see..........anyways, to the watch:

I picked my AP ROO Safari for this trip to see how good it really is to withstand the rigors of Island Life, constant traveling, being in the water (diving/snorkling/body boarding) most of the time or just bumming out on the beach! These watch is AMAZING........it's still ticking, keeps good time (haven't touch the crown since I left the US) and loves the water! SO, some pictures to share:
