  1. I love them all! Great work and superb taste.
  2. Good thing thing my wife is in the other room with the baby Nice pictorial!
  3. oh... the dial font. Ok I'll just change my faces around then
  4. High cannon pin Superlume Thick crown C1 (70) C3(30) sandwich and several other upgrades over my current 177 It's a huge difference that I'm gonna be happy with Chad What's the terrible thing that you can see?
  5. Been to HK a few times in the past 2 years. Noticed something last time I was at Rolex AD. Picked up the ladies Rolex and flipped it around to see the cheap butterfly lug holders holding the bracelet. Not the only reason I wanted to see this was because the friend I was staying with...her fiance bought her one of these $5,000 lady datejust and that's the first thign I noticed. Cuz it screams REP. Went all over the internet yesterday night looking for pics of the casebacks (Lady Rolex) and sure enough, the lug holder to bracelet is flush with just a teeny little crescent piece that sticks out over the caseback body. I'll continue when I get home. But I have a feeling that this whole phenom of great buys in HK are attributed to the fact that these places rip off every other tourist that visits that city. Got a true story coming up about my wife's TAG that she bought in HK years ago with papers, box, etc. Will show the photo evidence and the story of her disgust when I told her it was a REP, yesterday.
  6. I'm gonna ask a question about Asian AD's....but I think it needs a New Topic High Flying Clive.
  7. lol, I could have used the 5 to compare. Oh well, too lazy to compare with the Perfect SUB I am currently wearing. Yea thicker font = GEN.
  8. Went back and looked at the link. I'm gonna have to call this a GEN. Looking at the font of the Number 2 in the picture....and comparing with all other REP numbers I've seen. (Based on that 2) It's a ever so slightly thicker black FONT.
  9. I agree with tenacious b. Most of them are stunned as soon as you start talking the language spoke here.
  10. Jimmyzfu is a part dealer on EBAY. But he hasn't had any new stuff posted recently. Did a search and only found Gen Crowns listed. Good luck. BSAK
  11. Playing the usual $20 buy in home game tonight and the $100 tourney tomorrow at the Casino. So I'll be wearing the B1. To time the blinds and adjust to the "loose-ness" aka Kill Phil technique.
  12. My experience, most of the salespeople are idiots themselves. In any country. I equate them to luxury car salespeople working the commision and knowing squat about even the most general of crown function operation. You either play the part that you can afford something or they want nothing to do with you. Now the watchmaker, service people and technicians. That's a different breed and I don't try to pull anything (not like I ever have) over them in a Licenced Dealer or Jeweller.
  13. Maybe it's because I have a kid and a second on the way?? My wife and I always call each other "tart". "You're such a TART hun!" Mind you, it's probably a Canadian thing.
  14. I think I'm kind of reading that the Gen 24 engraved are not supposed to have the screw in's? All four of my buckles engraved have screw-in and my 24 GPF from DON is a spring buckle. On that note, I have found one local place in town that is able to do hand engraving of any design on my DON buckle. As no Machine engraving place will take on normal lettering. This is because of the shape(s) of the various Panerai buckles that cannot sit steady in the vice grip. Still working on modifying the OP logo to my initials and having that design put on.
  15. Many moons ago I bought this "quartz" Breilting for $60 usd on Canal Street NY After a few months the battery stopped and the crown screw became stripped. Luckily I sold it for $40 cdn. Getting a PAM from rwg and then going back to NYC Canal Street. All I had to do was walk up and into every stall and ask if they had anything comparable to what I was wearing. Most of the displayed watches are gawd awful and the PAM rubber straps come in every colour of the rainbow! I'm assuming the sellers are like in Shanghai market. They will display all the $20-$30 crap and try to hit all the tourist marks for $60 to $100. Meanwhile their quaility reps (if any) are suitcased away in the back of the store and are only up for the serious Rep collectors that knwo their stuff and can instantly point out the Grades. bsak
  16. I offered this one up for $20 (cdn) on Craigslist. No takers. But I sold this one for $35!
  17. Got mine in 2005 and it has lugholes and is Y series as well. I've had it been taken apart several times and is confirmed gen. Three years ago they didn't have a Ex rep when I was collecting and looking specifically for gen to buy. So again, the pictures of this rep or gen on ebay is virtually impossible to tell. Tough to call out with pics. Even Macro ones. Spa: I guess it would be down to the superlume, gently rolling the movement to your ear, winding the crown, exposing the movement, or feeling the bracelet's "looseness".
  18. "Doh" I got home to check and I was wrong. Got them mixed up. The 26mm buckle is off centered just like Deltahoe mentioned about his Eddie Lee one too. No taper 26 to 26mm. All my rephause buckles are 24 * 24 straps and these buckles have the centered Panerai.
  19. Unsure about the topic. But my 217 from Eddie is the 26mm strap and buckle and I have the PANERAI engraved centered on the buckle. I also have three 24 mm buckles all engraved PANERAI but offset to the right of the buckle from a :embarrassed: website that ends in hause. BSAK
  20. Wow I guess that is a conversation tidbit! I always pointed out the Daytona split second scene in Kill BIll and thought it was cool...until now. Other Daytona sightings: Danny Devito and Martin Lawrence film. Where the "stolen" Daytona plays a starring role. The Tv Series LOST. The Korean guy plays with hsi white Daytona alot and also beats up Michael who scavanged his Father in Law's Movado Museum watch. Pretty safe to assume that the IWC MarkXVI in Harrison Ford's film is a gen.
  21. Yep that's LIKE the watch I have owned since 2005. Mentioned in the General Board that I was so happy as the ExplorerII never showed up on any replica website (only Datejust, Daytonas, Subs, YMasters, etc) Y series (same as mine) but it didn't come in a box like that? Looking at it, you won't be able to pick anything apart. The back, Reps have solved the flush lug situation that was around for many years. Feeling it in your hand and winding it yes. That will be the only tell. The brecelets no matter how perfect the look still feel "cheap" and jingly. Trying to dissect from the photos won't help for this watch Unless you can get the person (fat chance) do to a Superlume shot. Mine is freaking dayglow. I'll post up a pic soon.

  23. Awesome looking strap! edit <<my bad, i always mistake SMasters with SWorks>>
  24. Great stuff (watches and ideas). I flip through the WATCHTIME 2007 Buying Annual and it's got everything from $100 watches and up to a Million $. I've definitely seen the amazing RGM movements in many ads. Good to know about the Seiko Monsters being replicated. I admit I have a Gen G-Shock and then bought 2 really good copies from the Chinese Night Market just for the cool straps and parts to use. I think I agree that the panaramic date on the GO Navigator is indeed tricky to copy. However there is a gen model w\o that unique date dial. Might be open for copying. After I buy a Davidsen PAm next, I think the MTM Black Hawk in PVD black is next. Hope everyone checks out Wrist Dreams .com that's where I find inspiring ideas for watch purchases (ie. Mp3, TV, Light, car ignition watches, etc) bsak
  25. http://www.specialopswatch.com/cart/produc...61&option=4 Well the BALL's are in the sub $1000 range, and this MTM is about $500 I'm really into the LED and Gas Light technology...ever since The Zigmeister burned my Retinas with his Lume work.
