  1. You got your answer. Gently press the release while inserting/turning the stem.

If that doesn't work or if you tried to jam the stem in, you may have knocked the lever out of it's seat.

removal of the hands, dial and date disc will be needed to re-set it.

Or send it to a qualified watchmaker to fix.

    Best,

    kurt

Sorry but turn stem clockwise or counter clockwise?

  2. For a 551x/1680/1665, click here

    For a 168xx, try this

You would do well to avoid wholesaleoutletxx & Mr. Slimeball's various aliases.

Thanks much This one will do for now. If the watch was a super rep it would be a little different. I might use him or yuki on my dw 6263 rehab though. Im needing end links, spring bars, and a gasket for the case back.

  3. How do this without destroying watch? Ive searched the net far and wide and just got more confused. This statment on a watch forum really confused me.

"I made the mistake of removing the stem while the watch was in the hand-setting position, rather than in the winding position. Subsequently, the stem would not fit back into the keyless works"

Im very confused.. Should I press the release lever while inserting stem? Is there a trick to this? I would also like to know what to avoid doing too. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  4. Did DW say why he couldn't (wouldn't?) provide you with those parts? But, yes, you should be able to transplant the guts of the cartel rep into a DW case with no issue. There've been a few guys who have done this before, though I think DW has the best 7750 dials available.

It seems he cant find the dials for the 7750 anymore. The spacing it slightly wrong on these watches. I dont want to spend 1500 on a movement. I worry that if I cant find the 37mm watches Im out of luck. My watch is 36mm but I think the 37mm watches dial may fit? I dont think the dials on the 39mm watches will fit my watch.

  5. My 7750 based 6263 finally died. This is a 7750 based DW 6263 with gen crystal. I tried to remove the dial and basically destroyed it.. It was welded with glue to the movement. Ive contacted DW and it seems he is unable to supply a dial, movement, hands, feet, ect. Then I noticed on joshes site these http://www.1-pc8838.com/rldv10017-paul-newman-whiteredblack-asia-7750-chronograph-p-650.html I was wondering if it would be possible to transplant movement dial ect to my DW watch?

  6. This guy known affectionately as "Mr Slimeball" has a long history of being difficult to deal with, wrong items, stuff not as described, problems with returning items. personally, if i could find anyone else, i would stay away from him. Lots of GMT bezel inserts around. What watch are you looking to replace the insert on?

My 1665 great white. The damage is done already as I already ordered the insert.. At least it was cheap! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180434809349

  7. About this "new" 1680: gen crown DOESN'T fit the original tube. You'll have to change them both.

And even if the gen crown is smaller than the one coming with the watch, the CG are still too small so it looks too big...

    :(

True this is a just photoshop and a amateur attempt but you get the idea. The gen crown is a little smaller but the reps cgs are too small. Still I'm happy with the watch. It has the charisma of a 1680. It feels like the gen. The PT 1680 I had some time ago didn't. I'm not sure what it was about the PT 1680 but it just didn't have the presence this watch does. That said I'm going to a buy anther PT 1680 for its silver date wheel lol.

  8. The 1680 was the only gen Ive ever owned. So I was greatly excited to see joshes white 1680. Funny thing is it was so long ago that I owned the gen I cant remember much about it. I didn't hang out on the forums back then and didn't really study the watch. Just wore it and thought it was cool. One thing thats not right on this rep is the crown. Its too big. The pictures make the crown look much larger than it actually is. Especially in close up shots. The bracelet feels a lot lighter than I remember my gen. But that was 10 years ago. lol Anyways here are the pics. All in all for $200 a pretty decent rep. The crystal is super nice on these reps the date mag is nice to.

  9. Not trying to rant here. Just wondering how long before my vendor comes to the rationalization that the package is LOST.

No updates for 40 days... I know he is not wanting to send a another watch and have two watches show up but damn.

Your item left GUANGZHOU EMS, CHINA PEOPLES REP on December 09, 2010. No further information is available for this item.

  10. If you want accuracy, you may have to build your own. I have not come across any rep 'Birds with the correct 36mm case like the gens. This is a gen 1625 (made between 1959 - 1977 & powered by either 1565 or 1575)

Thanks for clarifying that. I would have kept searching lol.
