  1. I recently bought the same watch and sent it to rolexaddict for mods. He ads a flat case back from raffles, does a lot of case work, drills the lug holes, adds a clark plexi, ads a gen spec insert (clark, i think) and does aging and relume.

It should be here in two weeks, i certainly show the result!

I look forward to seeing it :)

  2. The plastic ring ensures that the retaining ring has a pressure fit with the crystal. It's compensating for poor crystal/retaining ring tolerances (you won't find it on a gen-spec assembly). The actual bezel clips on top of the retaining ring, the metal friction washer should sit between them.

I may upload a couple of photos of the whole assembly if I take it apart again.

  3. Okay guys, in line with my ignorantly destructive habits with reps I took the bezel off of my cartel 1675. There was no metal washer. What there was was a plastic ring that fit around the crystal over which a quite strange bezel mechanic pressure fit. It was certainly not gen like in construction. The bezel and the turning portion were one piece that were built into each other (I may take pictures but as I have put it back together not I'm not too eager to pull it apart again).

  4. Hi all,

I just bought a watch from a TD here and ordered the asian ETA movement. Since I have gotten the watch I decided to take the back off to check and unlike asian ETAs I've gotten in the past this one has ETA stamping. Do asian ETAs exist with the gen stamping and if so is it common for them to be in TD's watches or by some fluke have I gotten a swiss?

    Thanks all,

    HaydenM

  5. which particular rep was so unattainable ?

Just got a 1675 but my old TD could only source one with a downright shocking bezel insert and a GMT hand that almost scraped the rehaut and when I rejected it I got an immediate refund as they said that was all there was. I messaged Josh the next day and I write this with my 1675 on my wrist. Far from perfect but better than what the other TD had.

  6. almost all TDs will take it once you set a proper precedent

except kB, because he's dealing with leather goods and it doesn't quite compute

I was meaning for first timers as I had to swap to another TD as my old one couldn't source me the watch I needed. So I'll just confirm that Josh takes PP

  7. Joined eight months ago (almost 9) and you've only made 2 posts? Seriously do some reading. There's asking silly questions and then there is just downright laziness. If I point you to the best 1680 then what if you want a 5512, or a 5513, a 5514 a 6538 a 5508. I hope you can understand that the question isn't understandable and 99% of the time is asked by people who make an account, want their watch now (that they have too high expectations for) and then will leave and not contribute anything. Read around the forum, get to know everybody and you will catch the addiction and be able to answer the question "Who has the best sub?" with "me".

  8. Vintage 1675 bezels didn't click. Design was like the 5512. You press down on it to turn it and when pressure is released it locks into place. At least on a gen. Most reps the bezel is too loose.

Okay, this one pretty much turns completely freely, no downward pressure needed and definitely no locking in place.
