  1. I agree.  I have a 7" wrist on a large day, and I have not been able to size the bracelet comfortably.  IF THIS IS A 1:1 REP of the REAL GEN BRACELET - This has to be the WORST design in Rolex/Tudor history.  The rigidity of the clasp connectors, only 3 micro-adjustment holes simply SUCKS!   I contemplated drilling another set of micro-adjutment holes in the clasp, but really, the damn thing is too heavy.

I have the above photoed bomber leather & Nato's now.  I have to wonder, if the GEN bracelet is as bad-- if that is why they more or less sell most of these with Leather + Nato.  Hmmmmmm......  Rolex needs to take a page from Omega and utilize half links near the clasp if they are going to be stingy on micro-adjustments.

The problem for me is slightly to to with the micro-adjustments but more to do with how wide the clasp is on the inside of my wrist which causes the watch to sit in a weird way. It would be interesting to see if more micro-adjustment holes would work if drilled.

  2. Hi, congrats on the Blackbay and the lumeshot - beautiful. Once I took off the SS bracelet I never put it on again, it feels/looks good on different straps. Both options $30 to $40 shipped:

a fabric strap that contains the springbars: Bradystraps sailcloath with gold stitching 22mm (just google Bradystraps): it comes with in-built lugbars and You can remove it/put it on without tools (but will need a Sping Bar tool to take off the bracelet for the first time

a normal 22mm Bomberjacket strap (they ship with 2 reinforced springbars) is here in 3 colours pictured is the brown: http://www.strappedfortime.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=248

Defending the bracelet it is one of the most sturdy and weighty watch bracelets I have ever felt. My weedy 6 and a bit inch wrist just doesn't deal will with the size of the clasp. I am sure I will experiment with a whole variety of different straps but at the moment I would love to possibly get my hands on the gen fabric strap or something similar (in design and quality).

I recently purchased a tudor black bay rep from Andrew and I have loved it but the problem that I have encountered is that due to by very small wrist I have a great amount of difficulty getting the bracelet of the watch to sit correctly on my wrist. I have ordered a few nato styled straps to fix this problem but I am wondering if anybody knows if it is at all possible to get a Gen fabric strap that is sold with the watch from anywhere (and approximately how much it would cost). If this isn't possible does anywhere sell something similar (a fabric strap that isn't a "one piece watch strap" that slides through the springbars or a nato but a fabric strap that contains the springbars).

    Thank you all in advance

  4. Guys, please forgive me for posting here and not in the gen section however this is something I think you'll all enjoy.

This is a genuine 102 years old German Pilots Watch from 1912 as authenticated by the Omega Musuem (photo attached) and has been recased at some stage. It has a stunning dial, simply beautiful movement and for the price of a slightly modded rep it can be yours.

Measuring a cool 46mm and 14mm thick the watch wears really well and with its contemporary Nato strap must be quite a unique piece, where are you going to see another?

Consider some trades (nothing smaller than 44mm)

Price including fees and worldwide fully tracked $750, grab yourself a piece of History guys.

    Regards

    AJ

SOLD, Many thanks to a great member and to RWG

How was this advert okay? It's a blatant lie to say that the watch is genuine. The watch is not 102 years old, it's movement is and such a watch did not exist at the time and the omega museum would not have this watch in it as it never existed.

  5. Some of my doubts are contained in the sales thread for this watch: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/166642-1912-omega-big-pilot-sold/

    To quote myself:

Good to know I'm not alone. As a relative newbie to the forum I didn't want to go making a judgement in case I was wrong but I am all but certain.

The movement is of pocket watch origin, it's the same size as a pocket watch and wristwatches did not exist for men at the time, and ridiculously large watches are only a very recent trend. Imho the watch is not real at all.

  6. Silix sells these in his "economy watches" section. They are always powered by chinese 21j movements, and are aprox $90 each. These mid-size pieces will accept genuine dials. These gen dials make all the difference.

Which size is considered "mid-sized" on silix's website?

    Thanks :)

Also is there anywhere to buy the dials besides threegoldbrothers on ebay?

  7. Australia is expensive sadly but if you ask the US sellers to ship to Australia - many will do it but force you to pay for EMS shipping with tracking which can be $50. I have seen some go for around the $1.3K mark recently (no boxes or papers) but I have to admit, you should try to pick these up sooner rather than later - they are climbing in price.

I recall seeing these go for ~$900 about 5 years ago but they are now in the above price range.

The other problem being import charges when importing these watches to Australia which can unfortunately add a bit extra to the price. I will hopefully be able to get my hands of one sooner rather than later.

  8. You might have a PhD in arrogance for all I care, it clearly hasn't given you a very wide perspective on life nor the world at large, instead you appear only to see via the blinkers that came with your tussled mortar board; so just plain Arrogant is more fitting I believe. In any case only certified to practice doctors have any ethical or moral right to use such a term 'professionally' or otherwise, not a research grad upstart hoping to get a free room upgrade at some dingy hotel. Its you who inferred they're like two-a-penny now anyhow, so no - not impressed at all, mostly with this particular holder tho'.

And it most certainly is ALL related, both subjects - why? Because its ALL about fakery at the highest levels with intention to deceive and manipulate the masses for political ends and both at the public's expense.

    Kind Rgds

And is it not arrogant to think that you know more than somebody who has actually studied science? You're seriously a nutter.

  9. Well as much as I like the aroma of Havanas, it ain't those!

In fact I stopped that 25 years ago but do burn on something I suppose.... Desire, on pure oxygen... no other added ingredients.

    :peace:

    Kind Rgds

If you were in fact living off of pure oxygen this conversation would have been a lot quicker and we would have got silence far sooner.
