  1. Just .. can't ... take ... it ... off ...
  2. For leather source, try Brettuns Village. Nice guys. Good prices and will sell smaller quantities. Hope that helps.
  3. My first Pam - a 212 flyback chrono. Just can't take it off. Probably going to get a fungus ...
  4. Screw the watches. I want a set of those Ping irons and Callaway woods ...
  5. Appreciate the compliment. I make my living with words.
  6. It's an OEM strap from the guy who traded with me. As for which one, etc., you gotta cut me some slack. I'm just easing into this whole Panerai thing.
  7. Try Don. I think he stocks straps for Breitling. Also, if you have the specs for the strap, I'm sure Don or Aaron) could build a beautiful one for you. Spend some time on the search function at the Old RWG to find lists of strap sources. There are a ton of vendors out there. I spent an hour or so one night bookmarking about 30 of them I found on the watch boards. As for Swiss, I would try Andrew's Web Site or Josh's Web Site I see Josh also stocks deployant straps for Breitling in brown and black. Happy hunting!
  8. Bigger Is Better: Confessions of a Panerai Convert I'll be honest. For years now, I have collected Rolex, Omega, Breitling and various other reps, but I just couldn't get excited about Pams. They're big and clunky - too big for my skinny wrists, I thought - and basically all look alike. What, I wondered, was all the damn fuss about? My path to enlightenment started innocently enough. I bought a Fiddy for my football player client / friend because I thought it was the perfect watch for his massive frame. He turned into an [censored], so I was stuck with the watch. What to do? Can't wear it myself, I thought. Much too big for me. But one evening, in a moment of reckless abandon, I took it from the nice box I bought from Homer and strapped it on. There was no turning back. Like a siren calling, I was under its spell. Even though I knew I couldn't handle the 47mm girth of this horological beauty, I was convinced of one thing: bigger was indeed better. No longer limited by my self-imposed 40mm maximum, I was now sure I could wear a 44mm Pam. It was as if the clouds parted and a light shone down from the heavens. I was liberated. Forty-four millimeters, I thought. Yeah, that's the ticket. I put the Fiddy box set up for trade and just received my new beauty - a 212 flyback chrono with two extra straps. Like an old friend, it's sitting comfortably on my wrist and I don't think it's coming off for awhile. I'm sure many of you have had similar conversion experiences. Anybody looking for some Rolex reps?
  9. Anybody have a good source for Rolex buckles? Thiking about modding my brown GMT II with a nice brown leather strap. Gold buckle would be sweet.
  10. Can't seem to get my YM bezel looking immaculate. Tried a couple different kinds of polish. Any ideas for tools / techniques for getting into the crevaces around the numbers and hash marks? Saw pics of Joe's mods on one and he got the bezel looking snappy. That's the kind of result I'm looking for. Thanks for any help.
  11. Trust 1000% But just so you get the right URL for the people we're talking about, don't forget the hyphen. www.silix-prime.com
  12. theres nothing more genuine than the love you feel for your kids. no rep for that. congrats.
  13. Enjoying my new beauty from Josh. All I need now is Pussy Galore.
  14. My experience is you get what you pay for. The cheaper Rollie reps are just that. They are not the same as the ETA watches. The quality in the ETA watches all the way around - dial, bracelet, case, plating, screws, etc. - is generally much better. Just my 2 cents.
  15. no soup for you, ceekay ...
  16. put my favorite vintage mili sub on his pickin' hand! stevie woulda liked that one ...
  17. Don't be foolish. First clue is when the time is set at 10:10, it's a picture of a gen not a rep. Translation - SCAM!!! Run away! Run away! Besides, everything you would want and more is available here on RWG. Why go there?
  18. I keep picturing myself walking into a room full of grizzled-looking chain smokers and saying, "Hello, my name is Paul and I'm a watchaholic ... " Within the six months since I found RWG, I've filled my large Steinhausen box with wonderful pieces from our dealers and run up a large tab in the process. One of our dealers bought a boat and another is putting a downpayment on a vacation condo. My wife and older kids think I'm freakin' nuts. (My 6-year-old daughter doesn't judge me cause she likes playing with the chronos and rotating the bezels on my watches. She thinks the lumes are really cool, too. She's the only one who understands me ...) Every time I feel like I'm hitting the end of the line - just one more watch, I tell myself - it pulls me back in. As soon as I order what I believe will be my last purchase for awhile, I'm already looking for my next acquisition. I'm hoarding money to buy watches. I cruise the dealers at work. I dream about watches. It's crazy. Already, many of my purchases are getting lonely sitting in my box, although I do enjoy admiring them - like when I turn on the light in my closet at night, then shut it off and admire all their little glowing faces. Does anyone else do this stuff? Am I nuts? Am I on the road to ruin? Am I going to hell? How much is enough? Will it ever stop? Will the watch monkey ever get off my back? How many watches do I need to sate my desire? Dozens? Hundreds? Will .. I ... ever ... be .. satisfied???
  19. Bling! Bling! Bling! Boing! Ouch!
  20. Real pp emails ALWAYS use your name. If it says "Dear pp Customer" or something to that effect, it's a spoof. If you follow the link, they'll ask you to resubmit your credit card info, and you know what happens next. Just hit DELETE.
  21. Northeast PA and Catskills mostly.
