  1. Im not a big fan of American cars, never have been, but its hard to argue that some of the old classics dont look good ('65 Chevy Impala, '73 Dodge Challenger). The thing ive never understood about American cars is how such big engines produce so little power. Ive seen massive 7 & 8 Litre engines producing around 300 bhp yet here in europe its pretty normal to see a modified 2 litre turbo with more than 400 bhp. I also think that solid rear axle's and the over use of leaf spring suspension gives American cars a bad rep for handling but i guess you guys have many more straight roads than us. The thing for me is that a car is not just about getting you from A-B and its not just about how fast it goes round a track. A car should be part of a whole experience to be fully imersed in. If you want to zip around the Italian hills then a Lambo Gallardo cant be beaten, but if you want to cruise along the coast roads of the Western US then a '66 Mustang convertible (in red) might just be perfect.
  2. Judging by all this im guessing this is not the best time to start buying reps if you live in the UK. Just out of interest, the packages that are being seized, are they all from China or does country of origin not make a difference? This is killing me. I finally got my dads inheritance money through (almost a year after his death) and am desperate to buy something nice to remember him by (after loosing his Gen Dreyfus & Co, that i bought him for his 60th, in Singapore airport) but thats another story. I will shut up now!!!!!!! sorry.
  3. Thanks for the comments guys. I fully understand and agree with you that airport security have a far more improtant job than looking for replica goods. As im new to this, im just trying to cover all bases (whetether stupid or not) before i start with buying. As mentioned in the original post, i probably missread the whole situation and just jumped to the wrong conclusion, but all this doesnt change the fact that i simply dont have the money to spend and loose, and i just wanted the opinion of people far more experienced than me (which you have given and i am very grateful for). Thanks for taking the time to comment.
  4. On a recent trip through Frankfurt airport i was told my laptop needed further investigation. I was taken to a seperate room where my copmputer was swabbed and tested. The thing that caught my eye was on the next table. Two security guys were looking at a couple of watches (not sure what they where) both looked the same. They had some small watch tools such as drivers and case back remover and seemed to be comparing the two. after a while, one guy took one of the watches, placed it back in a case and took it to a locked cabinet with other small cases (possibly other watches but not sure). The owner of the other watch was called into the room where the two security guys looked sturnley at him and put his watch in a clear bag with some paper work. Before i could see any more of the situation i was told that my computer was fine and i could leave. I travel the world on business all the time and always wear my gen Longines Dolce Vita. Ok so its not an 'expensive' watch and not 'in your face', but ive never had any interest from security. Am i barking up the wrong tree here or is this regular practice at airports. As someone waiting to pull the trigger on a few reps, but also passes through Frankfurt airport around 40 times per year, i have to admit, its made me a bit paranoid. Of course i could have totaly missread the situation and someone here can tell me to stop being so stupid but i dont want to spend good money on a beautiful rep, to have it taken and destroyed. Coments from other frequent travellers and experience would be appreciated. Dan.
  5. Hi Everyone, As a total newbie to the replica watch sceene, i would relly appreciate some advice regarding the Roly DSSD. Firstly, thanks to everyone who has added information on this forum as it has helped me greatly. Everyone envolved should be proud as the help and friendlyness of people here has made this into a great place to spend time. After spending months repeatedly looking at different TD's and their selection i have decided to make the leap into the rep world and make my first purchse. I have decided that the first one for me will be the DSSD as mentioned. The problem for me is which dealer to go for. BK has a great version with his custom date wheel etc but the $450 is a little over budget ( i need to save some for my next purchse........but thats another story), so ive narrowed it down to the two bellow: Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA 116660 1:1 A3135 Best Edition (Correct 10) from Angus DSSD SS BLK ASIA 3135 ULT V from Josh There is adifference in price of $20 (Josh been the more expensive). Please could someone tell me the main difference between these two watches and is the extra $20 worth spending. Thanks in advance, Dan.
  6. Great help tutupuli, thanks very much.
  7. Can anyone provide any information about Trusty's site, i cant find anymore. I asume its been shut down again and will re-open soon but any information would be appreciated. Meanwhile im looking for AP Safari ultimate version on stainless brace. (with silver number outlines etc) Anybody know another trusted dealer that stocks this. Many thanks Dan.
  8. Hi, Im looking at buying my first rep sometime soon and have been looking for advice on this forum about recomended sellers, servicing etc. I have read that if you really like a rep you have recieved and plan on keeping it, it would be a good idea to get it properly serviced. Im looking at a few different reps all with Asia 7750's and am looking for someone who can be trusted to service them properly. Its nice to see people commending Tom on the work he's doing ( well done mate) but i would like to know if any body can recomend someone in the North (Sheffield preferably). Thanks in advance for any info. Cheers, Dan.
