If it's not something obvious, like a sticking crown or something else, then it's down to the set lever screw, fixing this is not a first timer job I am sorry to say, you need reamers and have to disassemble the movement to get it done... I am not sure what else I can add, really hard to diagnose from a distance. RG

Winding position works best. You have to push sometimes really hard on the stem release to get it to unlock. Remove the screws and case clamps, the pushers are not connected to anything... Fairly easy to do. RG

Asian Rep Losing Approx. 20 Minutes A Day
RWG Technical replied to jj69's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Not inapropriate at all to ask, there are no secrets... I have done these for a flat fee of $75, that includes a new Miyota 8215 and the installation, only extra is the shipping cost... RG -
Asian Rep Losing Approx. 20 Minutes A Day
RWG Technical replied to jj69's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Pull the crown out to the winding position to set the time, you can feel the tension on the cannon pin, if it feels very free and loose, that's your problem. Unlikely something mechanical, random time loss is normally the cannon pin, mechanical problems don't fix themselves and then break again, but slipping hands as a result of a loose cannon pin will vary... Probably not worth fixing, I am not familiar with this model, if it's a standard center seconds asian copy, a Miyota can normally be installed cheaply... RG -
As clearly stated in my capabilities list, after 90 days of non-payment, whatever you have with me, is considered abandoned. It doesnt' matter to me one way or another, if your not going to pay up, then simply have the decency to let me know, that's all. I don't ask for much beyond common courtesy, unless things take a turn for the better, I think I will be having a yard sale come mid-January. Everyone has been advised in person via email and on PM's, and now it's here in the open, I have done my part, the balls in your court... RG

Correct. Never noted any difference between a Gold or Nickel plate one, well except for cost, a Nickel ETA costs lets say $100 for a 2836, a Gold ETA is $200...so guess which ones I buy?? Right on, functionality, parts quality and fit and finish, timing, rate, accuracy, whatever, no noted differences between the Gold or the Nickel plated ones...they all work exactly the same...and the $30 Miyota 8215 is still the best value out there, workhorse, keeps amazing time, and is low cost... There is NO reason for me to ever buy a ETA Gold movement, not a twice the price of the Nickel plated ones...I'm the only one that knows what's inside the watch anyway (my own)... RG

What model of movement is in it. I have seem a few with the correct engraved bridges, where the bridge hole that the set lever screw goes through, is too tight for the screw. Hence the resistance, as the screw rotates in the hole. Or there could be some misalignment between the case and movement stem hole... RG

Asian Rep Losing Approx. 20 Minutes A Day
RWG Technical replied to jj69's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Your Cannon pin is loose, it needs to be tightened and your problem will be fixed. What type of movement is in the watch? any idea? If a watch INDICATES a time loss, but the seconds are right on, then it's because the cannon pin is slipping and the hands are slipping. PLSE read my basics in my sig, dont' slap the watch, not a good idea. Easy fix, but it required disassembly and possible replacement of the cannon pin... RG -
Yes please do everyone a favor and do as you said... Well it's still running strong, got all the chrono parts and bridges on, and lots of pics...chrono is on now so I can test it and see how it works... All that's left is the dial side junk I have to install, if I can remember where it goes... RG

Since you posted this before I came along, I guess everone above this post is also a jerk, so please do us all a favor, and keep your word, " ADIEU " and don't let the door hit ya! RG

No question who the smartass troll is...you got the same responses on TRC as well, from everyone. Your wacked out, and from the replies of the others, I am not the only one that thinks that way. We answered your questions, even with your over use of bold letters, rude comments, and so on, and with an attitude to go with it...what the hell else do you want? You just can't please some people I guess...you can certainly forget about ever getting any help from me, you are already on the ignored and blocked list, on both forums. Find somewhere else to vent your experience and false rumours, and for gods sake, take your medicine... While you may not like it, I do contribute to the forum and put hours and hours of my own time into helping others. What have you done? other than [censored] everyone off, because of your attitude, nothing else. Spreading false rumours based on some bone head and his comments on a web page...and then pissing everyone off that tried to respond. Lets see you ante up and post something helpful, or a review of a watch, or anything to help or inform everyone here...up for a challenge? I though not... RG

Well good, actually great news, got it all cleaned up in the ultrasonic machine, inspected the parts, no damage noted... Assembled the basic movement parts, wound it up, and it's running like a top, even managed to time it and adjust the beat on my timer, using the 18K setting... You should hear this thing going, if you think 28.8 is fast, 36,000 is really fast, amazing... So the hard stuff is done, tomorrow I will assemble the rest of it, including all the chrono parts. I have been taking detailed close up pics of each stage of assembly, should make for an interesting post when I finish it up. Amazing and complex movement, my nerves are shot for tonight, I have hung the loup up, 2 hours of this is enough... RG

Go to the RCMP web site, search on copyright infringement and you will find the answer... No one can be in trouble for buying fake stuff, it's the sellers that are at risk, not the buyers... RG

ETA has plants in Asia, it's on their web site, www.eta.ch... RG

It is nice once you get one done, and see how cool it looks...I am still amazed that it's a one time deal. Much better than Tritium that wears down. Glad to hear you like them. RG

That was tourbillon that said that, I quoted him and his name in in the quote... sorry if there was confusion... I have 2 TWO watches with the copy movement, both sold and advertised as having ETA2892's in them, your not alone as being mislead... Mine both quit, like yours did, they are crap. On my 007 original version (which came with the Seagull), I replaced it with a ETA 2892, the other one is scrapped out. Even today, looking at the offerings, I still see the Seagull advertized as ETA, it isn't and isn't even close...I'll got two paperweight ones if anyone wants to see them...even a Miyota is better than this one... For what it's worth, after 3 pages of arguments and comments... I went to the web site quoted in the first post, read the comments, and what struck me are two things...well three if you consider that this bozo is simply that - a bozo... 1. These comments are from ONE person, who has admittely only examined a few watches, big deal, why put any value into what he says, is he an expert? Admittely no. Has he handled many reps, again no, so who cares what he says...I could put a website up saying whatever...so what... 2. In one paragraph he says "DO NOT BUY Fake watches..." then the next paragraph, he says "...many fakes pass my desk, and I pass them on (read=SELL) to clients who know what they are getting" Two faced polly wog or what? So he actually sells reps... Our only concern is what do we buy from our dealers, and from my perspective on the Bench, and probably seeing more watches in a month than this yo-yo sees in a year, if it's sold as an ETA - then it's an ETA...no question about it. Where it's made? who cares and what does it matter, Swiss made or not, if it's an ETA that is all that matters... No further comments, this is one of the most ridiculous threads I have ever seen, too much emotion and serioiusness for my taste... (2892's Seagul copies excepted for the above comments) RG

So funny how there so much information that is opposite... My supplier, in business since 1929, official everything dealer (including Rolex when you could get the parts), sells two types of ETA movements, 1. non Swiss 2. Genuine From the ETA Factory Swiss in sealed packages. Guess what colour the Genuine ETA sealed package from Swiss are? If you guessed GOLD, your right...and this is directly opposite of your comments, so who really knows... My supplier says to me all Nickel ETA are from HK... Go figure. Other than this one measly comment, I think TVT did a fantastic job, kept his composure and covered it all in wonderful detail. I have seen and continue to see 2892's that are Seagull ones, but I also get SW200's in watches for service (looks like ETA 2836), and older ETA models, some discontinued for 30 years... Bottom line, it's a clone watch, you get what they can get on the surplus market... RG

Thanks for the kind words. I am also glad that your wife likes the results of the Longines service, it was a challenge due to it's small size. Jen and I are planning a trip to the big Fruit (or is it Apple, I can't remember) in the new year/spring, we will get together for sure... All the best in 2007 from both of us. RG

Excellent, let me know if you find one... On the El Primero, I have been giving it the "Evil" eye for the past 10 days, and studying it, just like a boxer psyching himself up before the big fight, I think I am going to be ready to tear this one down over the weekend... and you thought the new Rocky was good... "...it ain't over till it's over"... RG

New Omega Seamaster Missing Hour Marker By Date Windows?
RWG Technical replied to ChrisUCF99's topic in The Omega Area
... and the bezel suffers from the problem they all have, it's misaligned... RG -
So was I... Given the condition, the neglect, the age, and the fact it was not running at all, and then I saw the gouge in the caseback, and on the winder bridge, I thought I had thrown a lot of money away... Pay your money, take your chances, worked out this time, but the bracelet is not going to come cheap...so I still have a ways to go before it's complete. Wearing it as I type this, and not being a big rollie fan, I am warming up to it... RG
